A weekter,
Reba’s head and leg wounds had significantly improved; at least she could walk without severe pain. She stood in front of the mirror, straightening the white shirt she wore. She was sure she had lost a considerable amount of weight, as her cheeks had be more defined and her waist much slimmer.
A knock on the wide–open door made her turn. Nichs stood there in his gray suit, smiling broadly while holding a coffee. “Ready?”
Reba nodded.
“Do 1 look pathetic?” she asked, turning again to look at the mirror, unsure about showing up in front of Harvey like this. Nichs raised an eyebrow, “Does it matter? I mean, you just want him to sign the divorce papers, right?”
Reba sighed deeply, uncertain of what she really wanted. “I want to leave an unforgettable impression, to show him I’m not broken even though they tried to destroy me…
Suddenly, Nichs pped his hands once, “I got it! We’ll stop by my friend’s boutique for a bit; she’ll know what outfit suits you best! Here, take your coffee first, you’ll feel better.”
Fifteen minutester, they were at Nichs‘ friend’s boutique, where rows of designer dresses hung neatly.
“This dress is perfect for you, not too shy but assertive!” eximed Nichs‘ friend, handing over a maroon midi dress. Reba nodded in agreement, touching the dress and suddenly feeling a tightness in her chest, still unable to let go of what Alicia and Harvey had done to her.
“I’ll change now.”
She didn’t talk much with Nichs during the drive from the boutique to Harvey’s office building. Her mind was filled with wild imaginations about her life post–divorce. “Becky, we’re here,” Nichs said, stopping the car right in front of Harvey’s office lobby. Reba turned in surprise, nervously fixing her hair. “Um, I should go in alone, it’ll be casier.”

Nichs frowned, “Are you sure? What if…”
“I won’t let anyone hurt me again, don’t worry,” Reba interrupted, reassuring Nichs.
“Alright, I’ll wait here, so call me if anything happens, okay?”
Reba nodded, got out of the car, and gave a small nod to Nichs, who watched her until she disappeared behind the automatic ss doors. Walking through the bustling lobby made Reba’s adrenaline surge. All the staff who recognized her as Reba Specter nodded politely to her. She was so respected there; should she let go of all that and end up alone?
“Ma’am? Are you here to see Mrs. Specter?” asked a security officer.
“Yes, do I need an appointment to see my own husband?” she replied tly, staring at the security officer sharply, not epting rejection.
“No, ma’am, my apologies,” the security officer responded, pressing the elevator button. and letting Reba in.
The elevator dinged open on the 72nd floor. Reba walked elegantly on her 4–inch. ck stilettos. Her usual loose hair was styled into a messy bun that suited her face. Some staff looked at her in awe, while others whispered to each other, seemingly aware, that something big was about to happen.
She walked past the secretary’s desk and directly opened the CEO’s office door without knocking, and what she saw made her even more certain of her decision. Right in front of her, Alicia was sitting on the sofa, reading a magazine, as if she was purposely there to wait for Harvey.
“Reba?” Harvey said, looking up from the documents he was reading, while Alicia immediately stood up, ring in surprise, not expecting the visit.
“Harvey, can we talk for a moment?” Reba asked firmly.
“You ignored my calls and suddenly showed up after disappearing for a week?” Harvey responded coldly.
Reba scoffed, “Does it matter? Aren’t you happy if I didn’te back and ruin your passionate affair with that snake woman?” she retorted sharply.
“Stop calling me a snake woman!” Alicia snapped angrily.

Reba waved her hand dismissively, “I’m not in the mood to argue with you,” she replied tly, making Alicia clench her fists in frustration. Without waiting for Harvey’s response, Reba pulled out a chair in front of Harvey’s table and sat down heavily. She ced her documents on the table and folded her arms across her chest.
“So, how does it feel to be the bad guy?” she asked, staring at Harvey intensely.
Harvey’s face turned red instantly, “Reba, I don’t understand your point, but I think you know me well enough that my attitude towards others depends on how they treat me,” he replied coldly.
“What did I ever do to you?” Reba didn’t even blink when she asked this basic. question.
Harvey opened his mouth, then closed it again.
Rebaughed, herughter growing louder and filling the soundproof room. “Isn’t it funny? Your harsh treatment towards me is solely based on what that snake woman tells you!”
“Stop calling me a snake woman!” Alicia shouted, walking closer, but both Reba and Harvey ignored her.
“I’ve lost a lot in my life, so losing you means nothing to me. I don’t know why you wouldn’t sign our divorce papers from the start, but I’m here to force you to do it. I’m done with this sick marriage so…” Reba pulled the divorce papers from the envelope and handed them to Harvey.
Alicia stopped in her tracks, silently cheering,
Harvey snorted,
“Why are you in a hurry? You’re probably demanding a huge settlement from this divorce, right? I could smell it from the start, I knew it was always about money. Maybe the rumors are true that you conspired with myte grandfather to trap me in that hotel room that night.”
Rebaughed, “Ah, you probably haven’t read the divorce papers, have you? I’m not asking for a single penny from you! I remember well that three years ago I came to your mansion in Long Ind with just one yellow suitcase, so I’ll leave with just that. Just sign the divorce papers, and I promise we’ll never see each other again until the world ends,” her voice choked as she said that. Her chest felt tight, and tears seemed to
