Chapter 1698 We Didnt Get A Divorce

    Chapter 1698 We Didn''t Get A Divorce

Divorce may seem easy. You signed a piece of paper and just like that you were done. But that wasn''t

true. There were a lot of things to deal with after. You needed to move out of the house, figure out how

to co-parent, and so much more. Sheryl knew this was going to wear her out. But what other option did

    she have?

Sheryl''s phone rang, and she thought it was Nancy again. But it was Ferry this time.

Sheryl hesitated, wondering whether she should take this call. Whatever happens, happens. Sheryl

    decided to answer the phone.

She remained silent when she answered her phone, waiting for Ferry to say something.

"I heard that you and Charles went to court today?" Ferry teased Sheryl.

Even though Sheryl couldn''t see Ferry right now, she could tell from his voice how happy he was.

Sheryl wouldn''t have been able to control herself if she saw him right now. She would certainly have

    pped him across the face.

"Wow, you really do know everything. Then you should know that we didn''t get the divorce today."

Sheryl was over it, and her patience towards Ferry was wearing thin. The only reason why she still put

up with Ferry''s nonsense was that she cared about her family, and was worried that Ferry might do

something to hurt them if she crossed him.

When people were preupied with their personal affairs, they were often stuck, and more often than

not, couldn''t do much. Ferry knew this, and he was going to use this to take advantage of Sheryl.

"So you''re not getting divorced?" Ferry sneered at Sheryl, threatening her.

"I assure you that we''ll never be together. I''m still getting a divorce. You said you would give me time.

Just keep your promise and stop bugging me!" Sheryl snapped at Ferry. She hated how Ferry kept

    harassing her.

"I''m d you''re doing this." Ferry smiled, seemingly satisfied. Sheryl didn''t reply so he continued,

"Sheryl, your time is running out. You''d better get it done as soon as possible. You know what I''m

    capable of."

    "I know!" Sheryl said coldly.

"Don''t you even think about trying to y dirty. I''ve got people watching you." Every time Ferry

threatened Sheryl, he always used a light tone, as if he was just joking around with his buddies.

"I hear that your kids are in kindergarten now. How time flies! You know how much I love kids…"

"Don''t you dare threaten my children!" Sheryl interrupted Ferry. Sheryl had very little tolerance when it

came to threats to her children. She would do anything Ferry asked, and take anything he said as long

as he left her children alone. Her children were her limit.

"What? Why are you getting angry?" Ferry burst intoughter.

"I''m getting divorced!" Sheryl hung up on Ferry after she finished speaking.

Ferry had intended to get on Sheryl''s nerves. He smiled viciously when he looked at his phone screen.

He murmured to himself, "Sheryl, I''d love to see how long you''re going to stretch this out!"

Sheryl felt angry and worried at the same time once she hung up. Ferry''s call had ruined her day, and it

irritated her. She knew that she needed to get the divorce done as soon as possible. And the sooner,

the better. The clock was ticking. Otherwise, Ferry might really do something to hurt the children.

    In the Dream Garden

Le was sitting in the living room. Suddenly, something urred to her. She took a deep breath,

looked at Melissa and said, "Aunt Melissa, I''vee up with a n. But I need to sacrifice something,

and I don''t know if you''ll agree," Le said, biting her lower lip.

Le seemed to have already made up her mind.

Melissa was surprised to hear this. She rxed her face. She was d that Le was taking matters

into her own hands and trying toe up with a solution, so she asked, "What do you have in mind?"

Le looked around, then asked Melissa to sit closer to her. She leaned against her and whispered in

    her ear.

A smile appeared on Melissa''s face as she listened to Le. She nodded her head at Le in

satisfaction, and said, "Le, I''m sorry that you have to make such a sacrifice. But I''m sure it''s going to

pay off. You can finally be with Charles if your n works. We can kill two birds with one stone if this

    works!"

"I''ll take that as a yes then, Aunt Melissa. Now we only need to figure out a way for Sheryl to see it,

then our n''s going to work for sure," Le said to Melissa excitedly.

"Yes, I know what you mean. We can always find an opportunity, but we need to work out the details

first. We can''t afford another failure," Melissa said to Le.

Melissa and Le were in good spirits after they finished their discussion. They knew that even though

Charles didn''t want a divorce, as long as Sheryl was determined to get one, there wasn''t much Charles

could do. He had no other option but to agree to the divorce.

Nancy had just finished cooking. She walked out of the kitchen and saw Melissa and Le in the living

room. Nancy could tell from their faces that they were nning something shady, and it worried her.

She said to them, "Mrs. Lu, Ms. Zhang, dinner is ready. I''m going upstairs to tell Mr. Lu." Nancy then

    went upstairs.

Melissa and Le exchanged nces and smiled at each other. They walked to the dining table and sat

down, waiting for Charles toe down.

On the second floor, Charles had only unlocked his bedroom door when Melissa had finally stopped

    bothering him.

"Mr. Lu, can Ie in?" Nancy asked carefully as she knocked on the door.

Charles was lost in thought, sitting on a chair on the balcony. When he heard Nancy, he turned around

    and said, "Sure,e on in."

Nancy pushed the door open, walked inside and saw Charles sitting on the balcony.

Even though Nancy could just see the side of his face, she could still tell how upset he was.

And she instantly felt sorry for Charles. She furrowed her brows and said to Charles, "Mr. Lu, dinner is

ready. Would youe downstairs and eat something?"

"I know. Thank you, Nancy. You can go first. I''ming in a minute," Charles replied indifferently.

Nancy couldn''t help but sigh. She wanted to say something tofort Charles. She opened her mouth,

    but nothing came out.

"Alright, see you at the dining room, Mr. Lu. Remember toe downstairs. Skipping dinner is bad for

your health," Nancy reminded Charles and left.

Melissa and Le got worried when they saw Nancying downstairs by herself.

Thankfully, Charles showed up just a few momentster.

Charles walked to the dining table. He remained silent the entire time they had dinner. He lowered his

    head, focusing on his meal.

Melissa and Le focused on eating their dinner too. Every now and then, they would exchange

nces. Finally, Melissa broke the silence. She said, "Charles, are you okay?"

"Yes." Charles didn''t even lift his head when he answered Melissa.

Melissa was quiet for a moment. She put a fresh piece of fish into Charles'' bowl and said, "Isn''t this

    your favorite? Try it!"

    "Uh-huh."

Charles was too upset to talk to anyone. So whenever Melissa tried to talk to him, he just shrugged or

mumbled a few words or nodded his head. Melissa felt like he was isting himself from her, from the

    family, from everyone.

"Charles, would you want to go for a ride after dinner?" Le put down her chopsticks and asked

    sincerely.

"No, I''m going to the bar with my friends after dinner."

Charles still didn''t lift his head. When he spoke to Melissa, his voice was cold and indifferent. But when

he spoke to Le, he was harsh and impatient. And Le was able to tell the difference, so she shut her

mouth, not daring to say anything else.
