Chapter 1615 Do You Have Evidence

Nick was not here to have a casual talk with Le. Before she could answer him, he grabbed her arm

and angrily demanded, "Le, was it you who did it? What have you done to Cassie?"

"What do you mean? What have I supposedly done to Cassie? Are you insane? Mind your words!"

Le yelled back aggressively as she pulled her arm from Nick''s firm grip, without so much as a hint of

    panic in her eyes.

Her unlikely reaction confused Nick. He thought that Le was either an extremely merciless and

psychopathic woman who could maintain herposure despite what she had done, or an innocent

one who really knew nothing about what had happened; otherwise, she couldn''t have behaved so

    confidently.

"Did you go to the rooftopst night?" he challenged. Since Nick didn''t have any evidence to prove that

Le was the one who had hurt Cassie, he couldn''t take her to the police just yet. Therefore, he

    decided to question her thoroughly.

"Why should I tell you?" Le sneered as if teasing Nick. She unconsciously crossed her arms in front

of her chest as a sign of difort but looked at Nick indifferently.

Nick knitted his eyebrows and continued his interrogation. "You were thest one who saw Cassie

unharmed. If anything happened to her, you''re definitely involved!" As he spoke, his index finger

pointed directly at the tip of Le''s nose. He was so angered now that he almost lost his head.

His fury frightened Le. Then she remembered with regret, ''Damn it! How can I have forgotten that?

The CCTV probably recorded that Cassie followed me up to the rooftop. Nobody would now believe

that I didn''t meet herst night.''

Noticing her hesitation, Nick pressured Le to answer his question, "Tell me now! Was it you who hurt

    Cassie?"

Le couldn''t help but feel panicked as Nick questioned her relentlessly.

At that very moment, Melissa innocently came down from the second floor. She yawned as she

stretched her limbs and noticed that Le was talking to someone at the door, so she asked, "Le,

    who''s there?"

"Aunt Melissa, it''s Nick," Le replied in a snap, feeling relieved because of Melissa''s presence.

She knew that Melissa hated Sheryl, so Melissa would surely dislike all of her friends as well. Nick was

a very close friend of Sheryl''s, and Melissa could help her in dealing with him right now.

As Le expected, Melissa got irritated upon hearing Nick''s name. She quickly strode towards them

and asked in a hostile manner, "Why are you here?"

"I''m here for Le," Nick firmly answered. He wouldn''t have bothered to talk to Melissa if she hadn''t

    been Charles'' mother.

"Get out! You''re not wee here!" Melissa snapped coldly, about to make a scene. Even the thought

of Sheryl made Melissa feel sick, and Nick reminded her of her daughter-inw all the time.

Seeing Melissa''s irritated face, Nick knew that he wouldn''t be getting any more information at present.

He decided to leave Dream Garden, for now, but he wouldn''t let go of Le so easily. She would not get

    away with it!

After Nick left, Melissa keptining and cursing as she was triggered by his presence. After finally

calming down, she remembered to ask Le, "By the way, what did he want? Was he here to find out

about the trouble we caused Sheryl?"

Melissa couldn''t help thinking about what they had done to Sheryl, and though she felt frightened, she

didn''t feel the least bit guilty.

Le came closer andforted Melissa hastily, "Aunt Melissa, don''t worry. We did nothing wrong!

Sheryl deserved that! She betrayed Charles in the first ce..."

There was another worry in Le''s head right now—Cassie. If not for Melissa, she would have been

    lost in thought.

After hearing what Le had to say, Melissa felt a little relieved. They got everything ready and went to

the hospital immediately after having their breakfast.

As soon as they arrived at the hospital, Nick showed up again. Le knew that she had to solve this

problem today; otherwise, she wouldn''t have any peace for the rest of her life.

"Why are you here again?" Melissa confronted Nick in disbelief. She couldn''t figure out why this man

wouldn''t leave them alone and had even shown up for the second time in a day.

"I''m here for Le," Nick confidently answered, pointing his finger at Le.

Le looked at Nick in frustration, and then nced innocently at Melissa trying to hide what was up.

She whispered to Melissa, "Aunt Melissa, let me figure out what he wants. Could you stay here with

    Charles while we talk outside?"

"Fine. Be careful with him. If there are any problems, just call me!" Melissa told Le to assure her of

help as she was a little worried for her.

Le nodded sincerely and strutted away.

Nick led Le to the rooftop. She became more and more nervous as they retraced the path she had

walked yesterday. But she didn''t show any outwardly suspicious signs.

"Why did you bring me up here?" Le asked coldly, staring at Nick with sharp eyes.

Nick lit up a cigarette and took a drag. Then he turned around, looked at Le fiercely, and asked,

"Don''t you have even the slightest sense of guilt?"

"Just get straight to the point! What do you want to use me of? Don''t beat around the bush!" Le

snapped impatiently, sounding arrogant and self-assured.

Nick red at Le, studying her from head to toe. After a while he decided to speak frankly, "Even

though I don''t have concrete evidence, I know that you had something to do with Cassie''s injury. Le, I

warn you: you''d bettere clean. If I get even the slightest clue that I can use as evidence, I won''t let

    you slip away!"

Nick wasn''t a fool. He knew that since he didn''t have any evidence right now, the only thing he could do

was to threaten Le and let her show her weakness when pushed into a panicked situation. He

believed that purging the truth from Le wasn''t easy but possible.

Le stared at Nick calmly as if she knew nothing about what had happened to Cassie. She was able

to maintain herposure after processing her thoughts about the previous night. Nobody could see

    through her right now.

"Nick, it seems that something has happened to your beloved Cassie and you think that I''m involved,"

she said, and approached Nick, ted at his sorrowful expression. Then a grin crept over her lips.

"Don''t nder me with baseless usations. Do you have any evidence? Why don''t you call the police

and let them arrest me then?"

Le looked at Nick with a scoffing expression. Now that she had time to prepare herself, she was able

to resist Nick. She coldly turned her back and proceeded downstairs without hesitation.

However, once her back was turned to him, she focused on her steps down the stairs. A nervous

expression now dominated her face. She was still worried that Nick might figure out her crime.

After she left the rooftop, Le went to Charles'' room in the ICU while Nick rushed to Cassie''s ward.

When he arrived, Cassie''s operation was already finished, and she had been sent to a ward room to

    recover.

Fueled by worry, I and Sheryl also arrived at the hospital in a rush as soon as they were informed of

    Cassie''s injury.

"Nick, where have been just now? Why weren''t you with Cassie? Didn''t you know that she needed

you?" I dashed to Nick to ask as soon as she saw him.

Sadly, Cassie was still in aa, so Sheryl left to ask the doctor about Cassie''s current condition.

"How is Cassie doing now?" Nick yearned to know. Even though Cassie didn''t look as seriously injured

as Charles who was heavily outfitted with needles and an oxygen tank, Nick''s heart bled when he saw

Cassie''s pale face in an oxygen mask.

Looking at Nick''s wretched face, I couldn''t bear to me him anymore for not being there during the

operation. She had arrived with Sheryl not long ago, so they didn''t know how Cassie was doing either.

All they knew was that she had survived the operation and was in recovery.

I shook her head sadly while Nick decided to go to the doctor for more information. Sheryl suddenly

    returned from the doctor''s office.

Sheryl looked at the two of them, especially at Nick, without saying a word. I couldn''t wait to know

her friend''s condition, so she made them snap out of their sorrows, "Come back to reality, both of you!

Sheryl, tell us how Cassie is, right now!"
