Chapter 1487 I Couldn''t Go Against Her Openly
Sheryl replied without looking back, "I won''t be able to eat with some people." She walked out.
She got what she had wanted; she didn''t want to stay any longer than necessary.
From what had happened, Sheryl could clearly see that Le feared Holley for some reason, and
Holley couldn''t dare offend her because of her business with Charles''pany.
But why was Le afraid of Holley? Was it because she had to throw herself into Holley''sp after she
had been kicked out of the Lu Family?
But Holley was an atrociously ambitious woman. Why would she take in a useless woman like Le?
Did Holley want to use her to aplish some dirty n?
What was their agenda?
All those questions churned inside Sheryl''s mind. She couldn''t figure out even as she walked back to
her private dining room.
When Sheryl finally left, Le let her anger out. She kicked the leg of the table and let out a painful
scream. Holley remained calm.
"Why did you stop me? Why didn''t you let me tear that woman''s mouth to pieces? You heard all the
bullshit she said!" Le swore, her eyes glowering.
Holley slowly put a piece of meat into her mouth and chewed on it. She said, "What do you know about
Sheryl? I can''t go against her openly. It''s not the right time yet."
"Why not? Don''t tell me you''re afraid of her!" Le snorted.
"Of course not. But you should think before you jump. She is Charles'' wife. If you fight her in public,
would Charles not intervene in? And I am right here with you. Even if I did nothing wrong, I would still
be treated as your aplice. If Charlesunches an attack, his first target would be me. Even though
you don''t care for my well-being, I would appreciate it if you wouldn''t bring me harm."
Le listened to her reasoning.
Holley was a scheming woman. No wonder she could suppress her temper even while she was being
mocked by Sheryl.
Le restrained herself and decided to be nicer to Holley because she knew that she would need
Holley''s help in the future.
When Sheryl returned to the private dining room, I and the other two were eating in full swing.
"Sheryl, is everything okay? What took you so long?" I asked as she chewed on her food. Since her
mouth was full, her words were not at all clear.
"Sheryl,e sit here," Cassie said, pointing to the seat beside her.
Sheryl had lost her appetite, but when she saw the three of them eating happily, she didn''t feel like
spoiling the good atmosphere. So, she sat down to eat.
"Sheryl, try this mushroom. It''s really fresh," Nick said, handing a spoonful to Sheryl.
When Sheryl saw the boiled mushrooms in the spoon, she couldn''t help smiling and extended her bowl
to take the mushrooms. "Thank you. I''ll take some."
I, who was sitting next to Nick, felt jealous and shouted, "Hey! Don''t you see that there is a patient
right next to you? Why don''t you take care of me first? Don''t you know how much I care about you all
the time?"
I''s words made Nick flush with embarrassment. Cassie chuckled because she seldom saw Nick
being snubbed so openly by someone. Only I could do that to him.
Nick immediately put some mushrooms into the hotpot soup which didn''t have chilies. He then smiled
at her and said, "I, you can''t eat spicy food. That''s why I didn''t give you those spicy mushrooms."
"Oh, okay. Since you''re so diligent, I will forgive you this time." I curled her lips slightly, but
pretended to be angry and cast him a re.
Nick rubbed his head and smiled weakly.
Sheryl and Cassie burst intoughter. They talked andughed like a family.
After almost two hours, they finally finished eating. I was so full that she rubbed her belly and burped
rudely.
"Sheryl, Nick drove me here. So, you drive me back home," I said, turning to Sheryl.
Sheryl looked confused because her house was in the opposite direction to I''s. It would take an
extra hour for her to get home. Since Nick''s house was near I''s, it was more practical for him to drop
her on the way. Just then, I winked at her, quickly ncing between Nick and Cassie.
Sheryl immediately understood.
I wanted to give the couple some private time.
This is property ? of N?velDrama.Org.
Sheryl nodded in agreement. "No problem. But we''ll have to leave soon. Otherwise Aron would get
mad at me."
"I, we''re headed in the same direction. Why don''t—"
I interrupted, "Nick, you drive Cassie home. I need to talk to Sheryl about something."
Nick sighed and gave up.
Cassie was a little nervous when she thought about being alone with Nick.
She recalled the days when she was with Nick. They went everywhere together; they cooked together,
they watched TV together. They were inseparable.
But now, she was a changed woman. She knew that she couldn''t lose her own identity andpletely
devote herself to another person. She needed to be independent—mentally and financially. As long as
she took care of herself, she would be cherished and respected by others as well.
As soon as she had realized that, she thought it was necessary to change the way she was with Nick.
A few minutester, the four of them walked out the restaurant. Sheryl then drove her car to the
entrance. After bidding goodbye to Nick and Cassie, I got into Sheryl''s car.
When the car was out of his sight, Nick turned to look at Cassie. Under the bright lights of the hotel,
Cassie''s face looked especially beautiful.
"Cassie," Nick murmured her name. He was stunned by her beauty.
''I must have a screw loose in my head. If not, why would I let go of such an amazing woman?''
He was filled with regrets. He looked at her, with pain and remorse. If she would forgive him, he was
ready to punish himself right in front of her eyes, at that very moment.
"Let''s go," Cassie said, keeping her head low. She couldn''t dare meet Nick''s burning gaze. She walked
towards the nearby park.
Nick sighed as he longingly gazed at Cassie''s back. He knew that she hadn''t forgiven him yet. He had
no choice but to follow her quietly.
