Chapter 1231

    Chapter 1231

Ryan made a little detour to grab some stuff from the local store before nning to head over to check

    on his cousin, Ian.

He had a mere $300 left in his wallet. It was money that he had earned himself, a significant change

from his previous lifestyle of being a trust fund kid. This was the only money he had ever made.

He spent $200 to buy a bottle of wine for Ian. He knew that it was not a brand that Ian would typically

prefer, but it was the best he could afford at the moment.

His partner''s voice echoed from the side, "Weren''t you nning to use that $300 to rent a ce? You

won''t find something in Greenfield for less than $100 a month. And you don''t want to share, so you''re

looking at least at $300 for a ce in the outskirts."

Ryan, clutching the wine bottle, had already slid into his car.

"I have to spend it. Ian has always been good to me. He''s always been the best to me ever since we

    were kids."

His partner, dressed in a ck leather jacket with several piercings adorning his ear, looked rebellious

and cool as he joined Ryan in the car.

"People say Ian is a bit of a wild card. I didn''t expect that."

Rolling his eyes, Ryan retorted, "Only those who know him well can appreciate his goodness."

The car pulled up outside the vi. Ryan got out and quickly approached the entrance.

Once he exined his intentions, the staff let him in.

    Ryan was a little dumbfounded.

But as he pushed open the door to the sitting room, and saw Ian sitting on the couch, he suddenly

    didn''t know what to say.

There was a movie ying in front of Ian. He probably hadn''t expected any visitors.

He was holding a cigarette between his fingers, and the ashtray on the coffee table was filled with

butts. It was hard to tell how many he had smoked.

    "Ian."

Ryan called out, cing the bottle of wine on the coffee table.

"I brought you a gift. Heard you''ve been feeling downtely."

Ian''s eyes were bloodshot. He nced at the wine bottle and seemed to guess what was going on.

"Did you earn this money yourself?"

Ryan tensed up, unsure how Ian had figured it out. He slowly nodded.

Ian leaned back, exhaustion written all over him. He had just returned home after spending time

    chasing Maja outside.

The movie had been paused. It was a ssic romance movie that had been out for many years.

Ryan thought to himself that Ian probably wasn''t watching the movie for enjoyment, but to fill the

silence in the room to make it feel less lonely.

Ian remained silent, and Ryan didn''t know what to say.

After a long while, Ian finally managed to speak up with a hoarse voice.

    "Go home."

Ryan immediately stood up, "Ian, take care of yourself. Maja will be okay."

It was then that Ian noticed how much Ryan had grown. The boy who used to be a spoiled brat was

now a mature young man. His time in the outside world had changed him.

Ian tried to muster a smile, but it was too hard. He simply hummed in acknowledgment.

As Ryan left, he saw his partner leaning against the car, his legs casually swinging, the studs in his

ears shining brightly under the sun.

He frowned, got into the car, and started worrying about his housing situation. He couldn''t rely on the

Raymond family''s resources or use Ian''s money now that he had decided to strike out on his own.

In the midst of his worries, he heard a voice from the side.

"Why don''t you live with me? I''ll charge you $100 a month. Can you cook?"

Ryan was taken aback. He hadn''t known his partner for long, but everyone said the guy had a bad

temper and didn''t like to share living space.

"Uh, I can make instant noodles."

"That''ll do. We''re roommates from now on."

Looking at his partner''s face, thinking about the mere $100 left in his wallet, Ryan nodded in

    agreement.
