    Chapter 1230

As he finished speaking, a noise came from the neighboring booth.

    Someone was there.

He slowly walked towards the booth, nudging the door open with his foot, only to find a sheepish-

    looking Ryan standing inside.

Ryan had never expected to bump into his elder cousin here.

His recent days had been pretty rough. Following his decision to pursue car racing with his friends,

Maureen had frozen all his bank ounts.

Though he still had the card Ian had given him, filled with a significant amount of money.

Still, he felt he shouldn''t be relying on his cousin''s money anymore.

Given his current lifestyle, he couldn''t afford toe to BlueSky Bar, but his business partner was

entertaining here tonight. He had to join since they co-owned the racing team, and he had to be

    present for drinks.

But he never imagined that he''d hear his elder cousin''s crazy talk from the adjacent booth.

There was clearly no one outside, and he had no idea who his cousin was talking to, his face full of

    ferocity.

Ryan retreated, not expecting the door to be kicked open.

He shed an awkward smile, even running his fingers through his hair in a nervous gesture.

    "Well, what a coincidence, Eric."Original from N?velDrama.Org.

Patric''s face darkened instantly. He''d nned to continue pretending to be gentle, but Ryan must have

heard what he''d just said. Should he kill this man?

As the thought crossed his mind, there was a knock on the bathroom door, followed by a casual voice.

"Ryan, did you fall into a shithole or what?"

This was Ryan''s current business partner, a ck sheep of the Haskins family, who had been ousted

from the family during high school due to certain reasons.

Ryan didn''t bother prying into other people''s secrets. They were just business partners after all.

When Patric noticed someone approaching, his ferocity faded instantly. After giving Ryan a deep look,

    he left.

Ryan let out a breath of relief, patting his chest lightly.

The casual guy leaned against the doorframe, raising an eyebrow as Patric walked past him.

He then saw Ryan emerge from the booth, looking terrified, and burst intoughter.

    "Are you serious?"

He put an arm around Ryan''s shoulder in a buddy-buddy fashion.

Ryan had been hanging out with him recently, sharing drinks and stories.

"Why wouldn''t I be serious? You don''t know how terrifying my cousin is."

As they walked out arm in arm, Ryan stopped abruptly upon seeing Maureen.

Maureen was here for a business engagement. Ever since Patric joined the Raymond Corporation, she

    had been summoned back.

Although she didn''t own any shares in the Raymond Corporation, she was drawing a high sry.

Seeing Ryan with a man not far down the hallway, her face turned sour. After bidding her business

    partners goodbye, she strode over.

Ryan brushed off the man''s arm.

    "You go ahead. My mom''sing."

The man left swiftly. By the time Maureen approached, he was nowhere to be seen.

"Ryan, who was that? Haven''t I told you not to hang out with shady characters? Why won''t you listen?

I''ve frozen your cards now. You better behave yourself. Once you apologize to me, I''ll give you money

    to spend."

Ryan wanted tough at her interrogative tone.

He''d been away from home for so long without making a single phone call. Now, on their first meeting,

all he got was a scolding.

He wanted to turn around and leave, but Maureen grabbed his wrist.

"Stop causing trouble. While Ian is dealing with his issues,e home with me. I''ll have Eric find

something for you to do at the Raymond Corporation. By the time Ian returns, you''ll already be on your

    feet. He won''t say anything."

    Ryan froze.

    "What happened to Ian?"

A mocking smile appeared on Maureen''s face.

"Maja disappeared. He''s been devastated ever since. I heard he''s been at home for several days now,

having people look for Maja. It''s quite strange. Three forces are looking for Maja, yet nobody has found

    her."

Ryan shook her hand off, instinctively wanting to rush to find Ian, but she added.

"There''s no point going to find him now. He''s not seeing anyone these days. Tsk, all for a woman, what

    a shame."

Maureen never liked Maja. Seeing Ian in such a pathetic state over a woman she disapproved of was

    irritating.

Ryan quickly left, not wanting to hear any more.

At some point, he felt irritated just by seeing his own mother.

As he walked out the front door, he saw his business partner waiting. The man casually slung an arm

    over his shoulder.

    "Your mother is quite fierce."

Ryan rolled his eyes at him, "Not everyone is as free and easy as you."

"If you don''t want to be controlled, just do like me and cut off ties with your family."

Ryan gave him a once-over at this remark.

"You sure did cut ties with the Haskins family, and I''ve always been curious about why you were kicked

out. As far as I know, you''re their only son, and with a cousin like Fitch, you had everything you wanted

in Greenfield. But you never returned after being kicked out of the Haskins family all those years ago."

"It''s due to some personal issues."

The casual voice turned serious, "You''ll find out eventually."

"I''d rather not. The Raymond family is chaotic enough. I don''t need to get involved in your family''s

    affairs."
