When Maja stirred for the second time, she was once again enveloped in darkness.
She fumbled her way around the room, attempting to rise, but was stopped by the voice of a maid.
"Ms. Pennyfeather, do you need to use the restroom?"
Maja nodded, and was gently helped to the bathroom.
The bathroom was well-equipped with soft padding to prevent any idents. Clearly, during her rest, it
had been carefully prepared for her.
She located the faucet, turned on the water, and used the cold stream to jolt herself awake.
She could feel the presence of someone by her side.
"Ms. Pennyfeather, please let me know if you need anything."
"Where am I?"
When could she go home?
The maid remained silent for a few seconds before replying, "I''m afraid I can''t answer that."
Maja wasn''t naive. She remembered escaping Dn''s mansion and faintly seeing a figure in front of
her after she fell.
The man was tall, holding a ck umbre, appearing like a god from her perspective.
However, she felt uneasy.
After being helped back to her bed and having had something to eat, she stood by the window.
The breeze carried the scent of flowers. It seemed she was in a standalone vi, surrounded by
tranquility.
Could it be that she was no longer in Greenfield?
Before she could ask anymore questions, the door was pushed open and the maid greeted, "Mr. K."
"You may leave."
"Yes, sir."
After the maid left, the man slowly closed the door and walked towards Maja.

"Who are you?"
Maja could see nothing. She just stared nkly with listless eyes.
In the man''s eyes, she looked frail in her thin nightgown, cheeks wet with droplets of water, damp hair
clinging to her forehead. Her pallor and weariness evoked sympathy.
"You''ll know who I am once your sight returns."
Maja, her hand resting on the window sill, asked indifferently, "Why did you bring me here? Are you
trading with me or using me to threaten Ian?"
"Threaten Ian?"
The man chuckled, "He''s barely holding up as it is. Why would I threaten him?"
Maja''s heart skipped a beat. What happened to Ian?
Before she could ask, the man continued.
"Ian''s in a tough spot because of your disappearance. He''s been cooped up in Rosewood Manor for
days, and it''s been Eric dealing with their partners. The support within the Raymond family is all for
Eric."
Maja''s grip tightened on the window frame, a sense of suffocation overwhelming her.
She was well aware of Ian''s insecurities and now that she was missing, he would be ming himself
and feeling lost.
She hadn''t realized how important she was to Ian until she heard about him taking the statue after
getting drunk. She sensed that Ian cared for her more than she had initially thought.
Although he never voiced it, she could feel it.
"Maja, Ian is surrounded by enemies. Your blindness is a weakness, potentially his deadliest."
Maja remained silent. The man was right.
Ian had made too many enemies in Greenfield. Now that she was missing, his condition was known by
many of his acquaintances, and it was likely the subject of gossip over tea and dinner.
People would realize how much he cared for this woman and if she returned, those who wanted to
harm him wouldn''t let her off the hook.
What''s more, the attitude of those higher up was unclear.
Maja was anxious and once again felt her own vulnerability.
If only she had more power.
Her fingertips curled in, her face turning solemn.
The man observed her yearning for power, a smirk tugged at his lips.
But he didn''t reveal his intentions, instead he turned to leave.
"Rest for now. If you want to know about Ian, I''lle by daily to update you."
Maja didn''t believe this man was acting out of kindness, but what could she do as a blind woman? All
she could do was wait.
Wait for an opportunity.
