    “This matter has nothing to do with you, but you’re helping me overturn my conviction. I’m crying, but


    it’s not because I’m sad. It’s because this matter has been haunting me for too long that I lost control


    when I realized my dream isn’t all that impossible to achieve,” exined Serenity.


    Jackson pursed his lips. Instead of speaking, he merely pulled her into his arms.


    She still didn’t know why he had apologized to her just now.


    He felt guilty because she had been forced to go through so much due to his indifference and conniving


    attitude. All he could do was give her a clean te to start her life anew.


    As for the truth that she sought, he had to make sure she never discovered it!


    Jackson hugged Serenity in his arms tightly


    The next day, Serenity requested a day off from ra in order to meet her attorney together with


    Jackson. Because it was her case, she felt especially nervous


    What surprised her that day was Jackson’s decision to visit the firm that she used to work at before the


    incident.


    Serenity gave him a surprised look. This.. wasn’t a coincidence, was it?


    “I know you used to work here. After the incident, some of your colleaguesughed at you. That’s why I


    chose this firm today. I’d like to restore the dignity that you lost here. Those who looked down on you,


    I’ll make sure they never do that again. After today, they’ll ept that you were a victim, not the


    perpetrator,” said Jackson.


    He wanted her to stand taller among her ex–colleagues.


    Serenity’s eyes welled up with tears. To be honest, after having gone through so much, she had


    graduallye to terms with her past.


    However, she knew that he was doing this for her sake. He didn’t want anyone to take her lightly.


    Serenity followed Jackson into the elevator which brought them up to the flour where she used to work


    The moment she stepped out, Serenity realized how sweaty her palms had be


    She was still nervous! Despite being told that he had found critical evidence in her favor and that they


    had grounds to file an appeal, she was still….


    Perhaps it was because this case was extremely important to her.


    “I need to go to the bathroom to wash my hands,” she told Jackson. “Give me a minute.”


    “Alright,” replied Jackson


    Serenity entered the bathroom and rinsed her hands under the sink. There, she stood silently to allow


    her restless heart to


    calm down.


    Compared to all those years ago, her hands no longer looked the same. Some of her joints looked odd


    as her tingers had been broken before. At one point, she was extremely close to losing her hands.


    Today, although her hands appeared to have fully healed from House injuries, it was still extremely


    difficult for her to do tasks that required a little more dexterity. In fact, whenever the weather was cold


    and wet, her joints would re up with pain.


    Though, because of the medication she had been talong these days, the pain in her joints had gone


    away significantly to the point she barely felt any pain.
