    stop crying. I gathered all this evidence to help you overturn your conviction, not to see you cry.”


    Seeing her in tears made his heart ache.

    “I told them to go away,” replied Jackson. “I can’t let them stare if you’re crying like this.”


    All of a sudden, Serenity felt embarrassed. She had never expected that she could lose control of her


    emotions like that.


    “But there were so many customers..” She remembered seeing the restaurant filled with customers.


    “It’s just an hour,” said Jackson as he wiped off her tears with his fingers. “Are you done crying?”


    Serenity bit her lip and nodded silently.


    He then pulled out a napkin and gently wiped the tear stains off her cheeks. “I’m sorry,” he whispered to


    her.


    It was something he had never said to anyone in his life, yet he uttered it so effortlessly to her.
