Her eyes were like the full moon, I could stare into them forever.
Her pale white skin, dark hair and blue eyes left me mesmerized.
Many poets and authors tried to explain this feeling in new ways but it’s simply love.
“So, you’re telling me there is someone so beautiful that you stared at them for like an hour?”, Charles asked me. “Yeah”, I replied.
“And where did you meet this angel?”, he asked me while adjusting his table and chair next to me. “Long ago at the Bus stand”, I said trying to find excuses to change the topic. “Hey, you know what I saw this girl at the entrance today- “Is that why you missed today’s practice?”, he asked me.
“…. More or less, what did the coach say?”
“WHERE IS ALEXANDER? THIS IS THE SIXTH TIME HE MISSED THE MORNING PRACTICE THIS SEMESTER! CHARLES! TELL HIM HE WILL BE OFF THE TEAM IF HE DOES THIS AGAIN”
“You don’t have to mimic him” I replied. “Forget about the coach, tell me more about the girl, did you take a photo of her?” “No” “Guess so, you should’ve already looked creepy enough staring at her” “Hahaha, funny Charles” “No matter what you should not skip the practice, we got tournament next week and you are our only setter.”
“I know, but you know what the weirdest part is?” “What? Did the girl laugh at you? Don’t worry it’s because your face looks funny. I always laugh when I look at your face.” “Rude” “Truth” “No, the weirdest part is she looked familiar, but I can’t remember from where”. “Forget about her, did you do the homework yesterday? Mr. Smith is already looking for a way to give you detention due to the what you pulled last class.”
Crap.
As Charles said these words a tall figure walked into the class, it was Mr. Smith. He had this muscular figure with veins popping out of his arms. He was an ex-gymnast but after a serious injury settled as our Mathematics Teacher. Whole class feared this man.
“Who didn’t do the homework, standup” he said with his grumpy voice. Only I stood in the whole class. Everyone was silent in the class. All I could hear was the football team playing in the ground from the window next to me and my own heartbeat.
“Of course it’s our usual suspect. Mr. Alexander Cortes. Please tell the class reason this time.”
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“You won’t believe me if I said it sir.”
“Try me.”
“Periods.”
The whole class was still silent except from a snicker from Charles.
“5:30, in my office.”
The whole class went by without an event and soon it was lunch time.
Me and Charles walked to the cafeteria in the next floor. “Couldn’t you have found a better excuse to tell him?” He asked. “I am not a fast thinker.” I said. The crowd was full at the cafeteria. “Let’s wait for her” he said. “Sure” I said walking to an empty corridor just beside the cafeteria. As I looked towards our school gate, I saw the girl from the morning.
Blond hair, pale skin, a very thin frame. She was not wearing our uniform so she must be a visitor. “That’s the girl I was telling to you about this morning.” I said as I pointed to the girl.
Charles looked in the direction. “Where?” he asked. “There, by the gate” “Are you tripping? There is no one there” “What?”
“Dude unless this girl is the wind, she must be your imagination” he said.
I was confused. But she is right there. The girl with an adventurer kind of outfit. Black t-shirt with those green pants. How can’t he see her. Then a huge wind came by and she disappeared when I covered my eyes.
“Did the periods affected your brain?” Charles asked me.
“There you guys are, why are you standing here?” a sweet voice echoed through the hallway. I immediately recognized the voice.
It was …. her. Girl from my poem.
The dazzling white skin, dark hair and blue eyes. Those eyes.
“Emma, why are you late? “Charles said.
Elizabeth, she was our childhood friend. Me, her and Charles are best friends since childhood. We are so close and we know all of each other secrets. Except one.
We all took the food and sat at a table. The crowded cafeteria was filled with laughter, shouting and utensils sound. “You know what happened this morning?” Charles said. “I went to wake up Alex and I found him sleeping on the studying table”
Before you guys assume something inappropriate, me and Charles share a rented house. My parents and his parents are business partners and are always away. So, we came to this arrangement.
“I think the story can stop here” I said as I raise my hand to cover Charles hand. “No, no it can’t” Emma said taking my hand and pushing it away. While she did that, her face moved close to mine. I gazed into her eyes. But she didn’t notice it. I stopped and put my hand down.
“Anyway, I guess he must have slept while writing his diary. Look I am not an intruder so I read only the page that was open” “Still intruding” “There was a poem written on it” “what is the poem?”
“Her body was the starry night,
Her gaze was my sunlight.
In her eyes, I saw twilight,
For her heart, I’ll be the knight.”
Kill me right now.
“Wow, did you actually write that?” Emma asked. “She is one lucky girl”
“You know I’m going to kill myself after this right?” “Anyway, I kept asking him who’s the girl since morning but he’s not telling me.” Voices are drowning out of my ear and I could only my heart beat.
She’s sitting next to me. The girl for whom I wrote the poem. She heard it.
“Alex…Alex…ALEX!!” Charles shouted. “I was woken from my thoughts.
“What? “I asked. “I have a question” Charles asked. “Well, we have a question.” “What is it?” “Why did you describe her body as starry night?” “What”
“Does she have moles all over the body?”
Sometimes best answer to idiocy is ignorance.
We finished our lunches and decided to stroll around the campus.
“Then this guy said he had periods yesterday” Charles said while pointing at me. “What really?” Emma said while bursting out into laughter “Why did you say that?”.
“I don’t know.”
I looked up at the sun. It was so damn hot that day. But what I saw was another thing. A small, bright light.
A bright light in that bright morning. It was right above us. “What the hell is that?” I said pointing to it. Everybody looked up. “Star? In afternoon?” Charles said.
I think I am the only one that noticed it at that time but it wasn’t a star. It was moving…. towards us.
