Chapter 398 Rachel, You Were Ruthless And Cruel

Chapter 398 Rachel, You Were Ruthless And Cruel

Rachel rubbed her belly as she went out. She still felt hungry. She had some fish, but it wasn''t enough

    and she wasn''t full.

Rachel gazed at the seaside, far off into the horizon. The glow of the sunset colored the sky bright gold.

It was breath-taking. Mesmerized by the magnificent colors of the sunset, Rachel kept walking towards

that direction. She didn''t seem to know where exactly she was going.

The sunset had reminded Rachel of the days she spent with Hiram at the seaside vi and the one she

    had seen in Cliff Mountain.

But this time, Rachel had a different feeling. She felt sad and depressed as she felt the cold water

touch her toes. The sea breeze blew cold wind in her face and it depressed her more.

    "Rachel! Ra…"

Marlon was looking for Rachel, shouting her name. Suddenly, he saw a woman going towards the open

    sea.

The waves broke and spread swiftly over the shore, ready to swallow the woman. Somehow, this

woman and the sea looked like an idyllic canvas.

Marlon looked at the woman''s silhouette against the western sky. She was lonely, walking all alone

    under the golden sunset.

Her hair blew in the wind, and so did her thin jacket, which made her look slimmer and weaker. She

looked like she could easily be blown away by the wind. Marlon couldn''t help but feel sorry for her.

"I''m sorry, it''s my fault. I asked you toe here and have dinner with me. I didn''t know that it would

make you feel bad!" Marlon yelled out at Rachel.

Rachel who had been nkly staring at the water, lifted her head to look at the dimming sky. It seemed

like marvelous artwork slowly fading from light to dark.

However, Rachel didn''t listen to Marlon. She just kept walking into the sea. Her shoes and the bottom

of her trousers had gotten wet. And yet, she didn''t stop.

At that moment, Rachel felt like a moth. And the sunset was her memory. Right now, she didn''t want to

think about anything. All she wanted to do was to get into the water, to beforted by the swirling

    embrace of the waves.

During the past few days, she had tried to avoid those memories. She just wanted to be strong and live

    a happy life.

But now, the harder she tried to forget, the lonelier she felt.

"Are you insane? You know that you will die if you kept going, right? !" Marlon grabbed Rachel''s arms

as he caught up with her. She hadn''t stopped treading on and fighting the waves, even though she was

almost waist-deep in the water. The next wave could easily wipe her out.

Marlon''s words brought Rachel back to reality. She slowly turned around, mechanically, and looked at

him. "Marlon, thatdy loves you so much. Otherwise, she wouldn''t be so mad.

Don''t upset her again because of other women, or me. You should go back now. Just leave me alone,"

said Rachel. She broke away from his hands, which were holding her shoulders, turned around and

    walked ashore.

Marlon stared at Rachel''s back, thinking about what she said. He stood still for a while as the waves

pped on him, before he followed Rachel. "I can leave you alone. But I brought you here, and it''s my

responsibility to take you back. Get in the car,"

said Marlon grabbing Rachel''s arm. He pulled her towards his car and opened the car door.

But all Rachel wanted right now was a little space. She wanted to be alone.

"Hey! Your feet will go numb if you walk back. That would be crazy. Get in the car, please!" Marlon said

    angrily, seeing Rachel ignoring him.

But Rachel was stubborn and Marlon got tired of asking her. So he mmed the door and drove away.

Only after walking for about two hours, did Rachel feel what numb feet were like. She should have

    listened to Marlon.

The sea was very far away from where she lived. North Sea City was not as big as H City, only one

third of H City''s total area. However, it was still arge city and walking around was still a challenge.

Rachel didn''t bring any cash with her so she couldn''t call a cab.

She followed the GPS to walk back home. Rachel dragged along, feeling like her feet were weighed

down with sandbags, so heavy that she couldn''t even lift them up.

After what felt like an eternity, she finally arrived at her ce. Immediately, she got a pan of warm

water. She then sat on the sofa and gave herself a foot bath.

She leaned herself on the sofa as she read thetest news on her cell phone.

She couldn''t believe that the headline was still there.

Hiram must have paid a lot money to the newspaperpany.

    ''I''m sorry, Hiram.

I know you hate me so much now.

However, if I go back, my mother and I will have to face Gavin and his brutal coldness. And there will

be endless fights and quarrels. I hope that my absence can solve all these problems.

What happened to Lydia will always remind them of how much they hate me.'' She let out a sigh

imagining herself saying all of that to Hiram.

''Alright, forget about those things. Since I am gone now, I should try to stop thinking about them.''

Rachel scolded herself. She was afraid that she might go out of control if she continued thinking like

that. She turned off her cell phone and put it back on the table.

She wondered whether Hiram saw the divorce agreement yet.

If he did, he must be beyond furious.

When she decided to leave, Rachel didn''t know whether she could go back again, or when. So she

made up her mind to sign the divorce agreement and leave it at home.

    …

    In H City

    At the Tulip Pce

"Daddy, daddy! You''re back! Where is mommy? Has shee back yet?"

Jonny and Joyce ran to Hiram as soon as they heard the door open and close. They looked behind

    Hiram.

Hiram just came home from work. He furrowed his eyebrows as he saw his two children get upset, not

seeing their mommy. "Not yet. Mommy went on a business trip. She won''t be back until a few days

"What? Really? But I miss Mommy so much. Can I call her?" Joyce pouted.

It had been a few days since shest saw her mother. Joyce missed her so much. Her voice, her warm

    hugs and her smile.

"Me too. I miss mommy so much, daddy! I want to talk to her too. Can I? Please, please please?"

Jonny said. His bright round eyes were filled with hope.

Hiram suppressed his sadness and anxiety and just managed to smile at the twins. "Well, mommy is

busy now. I miss her too. When she is free a couple dayster, I''ll ask her to call you. I promise, okay?

Alright, let''s go to have dinner!"

Jonny and Joyce lowered their heads and followed him to the dining room, disappointed.

After dinner, Hiram stopped at the bedroom. He kept pacing back and forth in front of the door. He

didn''t have the courage to open it.

Suddenly, he stopped pacing. He stood there, leaning against the wall.

Hiram was afraid of seeing the empty room if he opened it.

He was afraid of seeing anything that would remind him of her, which would only break further his

    already broken heart.

Finally, Hiram gathered up his courage and opened the door. And therge poster caught his eyes as

soon as he walked in. There was the familiar sweet smile on Rachel''s face. It seemed like she was

    smiling at him.

Hiram frowned, shaking his head, feeling disappointed. He wanted to close the door but he felt like he

had lost all his strength. He stared at Rachel''s face. His boring and sad life lit up again. He had to

content himself with just a picture of his wife.

Only when Hiram faced Rachel, could the fire in his heart light up.

Otherwise, he was just a cold block of ice.

That was why, no matter how hard it was going to be, he would have to find her as soon as possible.

Then, he would make her stay with him 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. He wouldn''t let her leave

his side, for even one second. No way!

When he walked into the bedroom, Hiram sat on the bed. He was thinking about ying with the

children. But now that he was finally here, he found himselfcking the strength to get up.

He seldom went into this room since Rachel left.

Lying on the bed, Hiram slowly closed his eyes. He stretched out his hands out of habit, wanting to hold

Rachel in his arms. He touched nothing but the air. Instead, he found an envelope under her pillow.

Hiram sat up immediately and opened it. He hoped that it was letter, an exnation, any clue that could

    help him find his wife.

to suppress his anger in the past few days, but now, seeing the divorce papers, he sat up, seething

"What a ruthless and cruel woman you are, Rachel!"
