The Depths Within

Aurion opened his eyes to a desolate, ruined landscape. The ground was fractured, cracks spreading in every direction. Collapsed buildings lay in pieces, with only a few precarious pillars still standing. In the distance, an endless void loomed, its edges blurred, as if ready to swallow what remained of the world.

"This seems like the vision I saw earlier," Aurion murmured, his eyes narrowing with intrigue. He felt a deep connection to the scene before him.

At the same time, he realized that the souls he had been unable to absorb had been stored here, preserved instead of dissipating naturally. His consciousness pressed forward, drawn to the center of the ruins.

There stood a peculiar structure. Its base was a deep, matte black, smooth yet slightly textured. Intricate runes were etched into its surface, glowing faintly with a dark red light. An ancient power seemed to stir within it.

Time had left fine cracks along the edges of the base. Rising from it was a towering metal pillar, wrapped in complex mechanical pipes and runic lines. The metal gleamed with a cold, unyielding sheen.

At the top of the pillar, a massive crystal hovered in the air. It emitted a soft blue-purple glow, like a reflection of the void. As it slowly rotated, streaks of bright purple light danced across its surface, flickering like starlight.

Several floating mechanical rings orbited the crystal, their surfaces pulsing with faint energy. They hummed softly, their movements synchronized with the crystal’s rhythm.

Within the metal pipes surrounding the pillar, a faint blue energy flowed, feeding into the crystal. The glow from the crystal grew brighter.

The moment Aurion’s consciousness touched the structure, a flood of information surged into his mind. He closed his eyes, absorbing the impact of the knowledge.

This space was once part of a powerful, complete world. But for unknown reasons, it had suffered a catastrophic blow. The world’s core had been shattered, its fragments scattered across countless dimensions, leaving only this broken remnant. To Aurion’s surprise, this shattered world had somehow fused with his soul, traveling with him to this place.

"Voidspire Tower," he whispered. That was the name of this structure. The Voidspire Tower had once been the heart of the world, a nexus connecting it to other planes and the forces of the void. It had possessed many abilities, including the power to link and control multiple spaces. But after the unknown disaster, only one function remained—the ability to create, launch, and activate Void Beacons.

"Void Beacons… capable of opening pathways to other worlds, bypassing all detection and barriers," Aurion mused, his eyes glinting. He immediately recognized this as a tool to help him escape the constraints of the Will of the Abyss.

Once launched into the void, these beacons could autonomously locate worlds where fragments of the shattered core had landed. They would then connect to the weak points of those worlds, opening hidden pathways. These pathways would not alert the "world consciousness" of the invaded worlds, nor would they be detected by other entities in the void.

"Helping this broken world recover its scattered core could restore more of its functions," Aurion thought, though a sense of unease lingered. The existence of this shattered world seemed designed to guide him onto a path opposing the Abyss.

After a moment of contemplation, Aurion tentatively channeled his soul energy into the Voidspire Tower. The tower’s glow intensified slightly. He could sense that it stored a considerable amount of energy, and the cost of creating a beacon was within his limits. Aurion increased the flow of soul energy, and the tower’s mechanisms activated, condensing the energy into a Void Beacon.

The beacon resembled a swirling vortex of pale purple and deep blue energy, with a faint, dark point at its center, like a star in the night sky. The edges of the vortex shimmered, tendrils of light extending outward like translucent ribbons, drifting in the air with an ethereal, mysterious aura.

The Void Beacon hovered above the tower. As the Voidspire Tower activated its launch function, the beacon was swiftly propelled into the intersection of the void and multidimensional space, vanishing from sight.

Aurion’s gaze swept across the top of the tower. Suddenly, his eyes widened. A line of familiar characters caught his attention—words from his original world.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    [Do not trust It]

In that moment, Aurion’s heart clenched. A wave of loneliness, the kind that only comes from being in an alien world, washed over him, leaving him stunned.

He could never have imagined finding words from his homeland in this shattered void. Even more bizarre was the fact that the characters had been carved later, standing out starkly against their surroundings.

His breath caught as he traced the familiar characters with trembling fingers.

"Who left this here?" he whispered to himself, his mind racing. Who else had come here before him? And who was "It"? The Will of the Abyss? Or some other powerful entity lurking in the shadows?

These questions flooded his mind, stirring a sense of unease. He felt as though this message had been left specifically for him, a warning that this world was far more complicated than it appeared.

He stood there, his gaze distant, but inside, a storm was raging.

An invisible pressure weighed on him. These words seemed to reveal a vast, hidden conspiracy, and he was being dragged into it against his will.

Before he could delve deeper, a powerful force yanked at his consciousness, pulling him back to reality. He opened his eyes to see the Abyssal Rift before him pulsing with red light. The teleportation was nearing its end. The aura of the Endless Abyss called to him, its true home awaiting his arrival.

The Will of the Abyss quietly surfaced. A stream of information flowed into his mind, and a set of coordinates within the Endless Abyss appeared clearly.

"Go here. You will grow stronger." The brief directive was as firm as a command, accompanied by a wave of goodwill from the Will. Moments later, it vanished into the darkness as if it had never been there.

Aurion was caught in an unprecedented conflict. The warning from the shattered world, the guidance from the Will of the Abyss—the clash between the two left him unable to discern truth from deception.

Faced with this dilemma, his expression tightened, and a complex mix of emotions surged within him.

He didn’t act immediately. Instead, he stood still, his eyes flickering with thought. He could feel the immense power and temptation offered by the Will of the Abyss, yet the warning from the shattered world made him acutely aware that he might be ensnared in a grand conspiracy.

"Why is the Abyss guiding me? If Its goal is to control me, why grant me even greater power after my evolution?" he pondered, a hint of wariness in his eyes.

“What’s your game?” he muttered, staring into the pulsing rift.

But the shattered world’s appearance was also too coincidental. The carved warning offered no clear path, only a cryptic message.

Aurion felt an indescribable sense of isolation. In this unfamiliar world, anything he might rely on had become unreliable. The tug-of-war between the two forces churned his thoughts, amplifying his feelings of helplessness and uncertainty.

"No one can tell me the truth, but I can rely on myself," he finally concluded, calming himself. He realized that neither the Will of the Abyss nor the shattered world should be fully trusted. His expression gradually returned to its usual composure.

Whatever lay ahead, Aurion knew he needed to use the interplay between these forces to grow stronger.

His turbulent emotions settled. As he gazed at the rift glowing with red light, a faint smile touched his lips. He spread his arms slightly, as if embracing fate, and took the final step toward the crimson-lit exit.
