The Touch of Souls

The Inferno Demon watched with glee as the black mist surged into its body, the remnants of its dark flames flickering around it. The air around it shimmered with heat, and the eerie silence of the battlefield declared its victory.

Just as the Inferno Demon reveled in its triumph, Aurion emerged from the shadows. His claws tapped rhythmically against each other, the eerie sound of applause echoing across the desolate battlefield. His gaze settled on the Inferno Demon, a faint smile playing on his lips.

"What a spectacular fight," he murmured, his voice calm but laced with barely contained excitement.

The Inferno Demon’s eyes burned with murderous intent. Its chest heaved, its strength nearly spent, yet it stood defiant, energy pulsing weakly within it. Its gaze locked onto Aurion, unyielding.

Aurion’s smile remained unshaken, as if the Inferno Demon’s hostility meant nothing to him. The air around them warped from the intense heat of the demon’s flames, but Aurion seemed to relish the tension and killing intent. His lips curled slightly, a hint of amusement in his expression.

"Out of thousands of demons, only the two of us remain standing," Aurion said, his voice low and drawn out. He didn’t care if the Inferno Demon understood him; it felt more like a soliloquy. "I admire your strength. And to show my respect…" He paused, his eyes glinting with a bloodthirsty light, his tone tinged with excitement, "I’ll make your death elegant."

With that, Aurion lunged forward, closing the distance between them in an instant. The Inferno Demon, despite its exhaustion, summoned the last of its strength. Black fireballs erupted from its claws, hurtling toward Aurion with searing heat, as if to reduce him to ash.

But Aurion moved like a phantom, weaving effortlessly between the flames. Each time a fireball neared, he vanished, reappearing in the gaps between them, only to disappear again in a blur of shadow.

He danced through the barrage of fire with grace and precision, his movements swift and deliberate. As he drew closer, the Inferno Demon’s eyes grew increasingly frantic.

When Aurion appeared at the demon’s side, the Inferno Demon unleashed its final attack. Its arms spread wide, and a torrent of black flames erupted from its body, forming a blazing ring of fire that expanded outward with explosive force.

Aurion leapt into the air, his body twisting gracefully as he flipped upside down. Hanging in mid-air, he looked down at the Inferno Demon, his sharp gaze meeting its furious eyes. The ring of fire surged past beneath him, unable to reach him.

Aurion’s lips curved into a faint smile. His claw tapped lightly on the Inferno Demon’s forehead. "Abyssal Touch," he whispered, his voice cold and resonant, like a murmur from the depths of the Abyss.

In that moment, the soul energy Aurion had gathered erupted from his fingertips, piercing the Inferno Demon’s mind like a blade. The force tore through its soul core, shattering it completely.

The Inferno Demon’s body stiffened, its fiery rage extinguished in an instant. Its muscles twitched violently before it collapsed to the ground with a heavy thud.

The black flames flickered and died, and the demon’s massive form disintegrated into nothingness, leaving no trace behind.

"How beautiful," Aurion murmured, standing alone at the center of the battlefield. Black mist swirled around him, and the crimson earth and darkened sky seemed to mourn the end of the slaughter. Silence reigned once more.

After defeating all his enemies, the Abyssal Rift began to change. A more intense wave of Abyssal energy surged from the rift, enveloping him like a tidal wave. Aurion stood before the rift, calming his excitement, and stepped into it.

Once inside, the world around him vanished. He was surrounded by endless darkness, with no sense of direction or passage of time.

In this void, the Abyssal energy continuously washed over his body. The black stone in his mind released a faint, high-tier energy, like an invisible hand shaping and transforming him.

At the same time, the vast reserves of soul energy stored in his mind were awakened by the Abyssal energy. Like flowing water, the soul energy coursed through his body, merging with him.

Finally, Aurion evolved from a juvenile demon into a unique lesser demon.

In his evolved form, Aurion’s appearance was almost indistinguishable from a human’s. His facial features were sharp, with a straight, high nose and a handsome, coldly refined face. His short black hair was smooth and glossy, and his deep red eyes glowed like crimson gemstones.

His body was lean and muscular. Smooth skin covered his well-defined muscles, with hard scales hidden beneath. His physique was both powerful and elegant.

On his back, a pair of massive demon wings unfolded. The black membranes were intricately textured, with sharp, rigid bone spikes along the edges. His long, flexible tail swayed gently behind him, ending in a sharp, blade-like tip.

Aurion’s limbs retained a human shape but were still covered in scales that seamlessly blended with his form. His fingers were slender and elongated, their tips gleaming like razor-sharp blades.

He had completely shed the crude form of a demon spawn, now resembling a noble from the Abyss. His beauty was striking, yet there was an eerie, unapproachable aura about him.

With the help of the faint energy, Aurion’s abilities underwent a dramatic transformation. Now, anywhere his gaze fell, Shadow Step could instantly take him.

The evolved Abyssal Touch became even more insidious. It could now plant a seed of power silently in an enemy’s mind, lying dormant until Aurion willed it to erupt.

Additionally, he gained new, powerful, and bizarre abilities—even a sliver of the Authority of the Abyss.

Suddenly, an unfamiliar ripple emerged from the depths of his mind. The presence behind it seemed to have been hidden deep within him, only now activated. It tugged at his soul, slowly pulling his consciousness deeper.

"What is this…?" Aurion frowned, a flicker of wariness rising in him. He could clearly sense that this presence had been lurking in the depths of his mind, concealed until now.

"Something hidden in my mind…" Aurion took a slow breath, focusing on the mysterious force. His consciousness seemed to pass through an invisible corridor, instantly drawn into another space.
