Chapter 354

    Chapter 354

Marian emerged from the living room of the Ronan'' household, heading towards the yard. Just then,

Janice appeared from the storeroom, struggling with a heavy cardboard box.

Marian froze at the sight. She recognized it. It was the package she had bought for Cordelia.

Janice seemed to have difficulty carrying it, indicating that there was still something inside. Moreover,

the box was still sealed, suggesting that its contents had not been used.

Marian gritted her teeth in frustration. She had gone through so much trouble to pick out the perfect gift

for Cordelia, only for her kindness to be thrown back in her face. She had assured Cordelia that she

had no ulterior motives, unlike Samantha, but Cordelia had refused to believe her.

"Mr. Colby, wait a moment. I''ve forgotten my lipstick," Marian said. With that, she returned to the living

    room.

The housekeeper opened the door for Marian. Upon entering, she immediately spotted Cordelia and

Ronan entwined on the couch, lost in a moment of intimacy.

Ronan had one arm wrapped around Cordelia''s waist, a knowing smile ying on his lips as he

whispered something to her. Cordelia was disgustingly ying the role of the doting girlfriend. The

ne that had once adorned Cordelia''s neck was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh, Mr. and Mrs. Evans," Marian began. "I can''t find my lipstick. I think I might have left it on the

couch." She then started searching in the crevices of the couch. All the while, Ronan watched her

    intently.

Unable to find it, she said, "I''m sorry for the interruption, Mr. and Mrs. Evans. I should have been more

    careful. Goodbye."

With that, she exited the residence, seething with anger. She had only been trying to win the favor of

Ronan and Cordelia. What was so wrong about that? Why did Cordelia have to be so disrespectful?

"Is our little angel awake?" Olen''s voice echoed from the doorway of his room.

Cordelia''s face fell instantly. She had nned to visit the child once he woke up, but...

"I''m tired. I''ll head upstairs," she said, turning to ascend to the second floor. She suspected that Olen

and Amanda were nting roots here and building a rtionship with the child that would be difficult to

    sever once established.

Ronan was about to follow her upstairs when the doorbell rang. It was Edwin. He looked utterly

despondent, as if he had found a ce to vent his troubles upon seeing Ronan. "Mr. Evans," he began,

his eyes welling up with tears.

"You are a grown man. What are you doing looking so pitiful?" Ronan asked, retaking his seat on the

    couch.

"Mr. Evans, you don''t understand..." Edwin began, his head hanging low. "It was a done deal that Pulse

    N?velDrama.Org holds ? this.

Technologies would sponsor The High Society. But now, The High Society has abruptly terminated its

coboration with Pulse Technologies. My new game, which was supposed to be featured in The High

Society, is now in jeopardy. Your investment..."

"The folks at Pulse Technologies are probably even more anxious than you. Just wait and see," Ronan

replied, unfazed by the news. A $10 million investment was pocket change to him.

"I was so sure this game would be a hit, but now I''m not even sure if we can break even," Edwin

confessed, clutching his head in despair. "I''m sorry, Mr. Evans. I''ve dragged you into this mess."

"It''s no big deal," Ronan replied, puzzled by the sudden turn of events after years of sessful

business ventures. How could he have lost money without any warning signs?
