Chapter 237

    Chapter 237

Ronan''s car arrived at the hospital. When he entered Cordelia''s room, she was still asleep. In her

advanced stage of pregnancy, she could only sleep on her side, her hand cradling her belly. Tears were

streaming down her face, her lips silently mouthing the word "Mom."

She must have been missing her mother again.

Ronan wiped away the tears from her cheeks. Just a light touch was enough to wake her up. She

shrank back as if avoiding a gue.

"Why are you here? Have you given the files to Brenda?" Cordelia asked Ronan. Her eyebrows tightly

    furrowed.

"I did. Is the project all you care about?" Ronan asked casually, pulling up a chair to sit down.

"All the people I could care about in this world are gone." Cordelia said mournfully. In other words,

Ronan was not on her list of people to care about. Whether he lived or died didn''t matter to her.

Being pregnant, Cordelia had to sleep on her side, but she didn''t want to be rude to Ronan, who had

    conversation with him.

"Cordelia, how are you?" A worried voice came from the door.

Cordelia opened her eyes to see Jamie standing at her bedside.

"How are you?" Jamie instinctively grabbed one of Cordelia''s hands. "Why didn''t you tell me that

    something so big happened?"

He had been out of town on a business trip and had rushed to the hospital straight from the airport.

    Jamie looked petrified.

"I''m fine," Cordelia said with a smile.

"What would I do if something happened to you? And the babies? You shouldn''t work anymore. I''ll take

care of you," Jamie said, looking fretful.

"You don''t need to. The project I got will keep our firm busy for a year. I''ll be careful in the future,"

Cordelia said, ughing. Shepletely ignored Ronan''s expression.

Ronan sat silently, his face ashen. At least from Cordelia and Jamie''s conversation, Ronan had learned

a few things. Firstly, the children were indeed Jamie''s. Secondly, Cordelia had gone to great lengths to

get the project from him. They were all for Jamie.

And she had used a very harsh term, "us." She and Jamie were an "us."

"Cordelia, don''t live alone in a rented ce anymore. Move in with me, my parents and the housemaid

will take care of you. You''re so far along in your pregnancy, and I''m really worried about you living

    alone." Jamie said.

If it had been before, Cordelia would have definitely refused, but after what happened with Manda,

Cordelia realized she had to be more cautious. Manda would definitely n another attack until she

managed to harm Cordelia''s babies. Living alone was indeed unsafe. Moreover, she was carrying

twins, which was riskier than a normal pregnancy. She really needed someone to take care of her.

Cordelia thought for a moment, then said, "Okay." She did it on purpose, in front of Ronan.

"I gave you two houses for you to live in, not to look at." Ronan said, looking rather annoyed at

    Cordelia.

"I don''t n on epting your billion dors or the two houses. I haven''t touched the money, and I

    Belonging ? N?velDram/a.Org.

haven''t seen the houses, I don''t even know where they are," Cordelia said, looking at Ronan with a

cold expression, her attitude contrasting greatly with the one she had towards Jamie.

Ronan turned around and left, returning home. Ever since Barney left, his home had be quiet and

empty. Before Barney came to Birchwood, his home had always been like this, and he had always lived

alone. But having experienced such liveliness and then a sudden return to solitude was a big change.

He called out De, and the ck cat jumped onto hisp. This "De" was so obedient, not like

    Cordelia.

A few dayster, when Cordelia''s health improved, Jamie helped her terminate her lease and she

moved into Jamie''s house. Jamie''s house was also a vi, not asrge as Pearl Palms, but it was

cozier with more people. There were three maids in the house, as well as Jamie''s parents. Jamie had

arranged for Cordelia to stay in thergest, sunniest room on the first floor.

On Cordelia''s first day, the maids prepared delicious chicken soup for her. Compared to the cold

solitude of living alone, this was much warmer.

The person most nervous about her arrival was Jamie''s father, Thomas.
