Chapter 33 - Accepting - Skeleton Ring Level Two

Archvel''s footsteps echoed through the corridors of the Dark Archive as he made his way towards the entrance.

He wondered why Leyla and Ezekiel had come to visit him.

As he reached the meeting spot, he noticed the familiar figures of the two young mages standing before him.

"Oh, so they are trustworthy, or are they just afraid?"

    Archvel commented.

With a polite nod, Ezekiel stepped forward and handed Archvel a small pouch containing thirty gold coins.

Archvel''s eyes glinted with satisfaction as he took hold of the pouch.

The coins clinked softly in his hand.

But there was something more that Ezekiel had for Archvel—a document from Jareth.

"This document was given to me by Master Jareth; he said that it belongs to you, Master Archvel."

Archvel nodded as he took the document from Ezekiel via Skeleton Servants.

Archvel''s curiosity heightened as he unfolded the parchment and began to read Jareth''s words.

The document detailed a mission, Jareth telling him that he would need him in this mission.

As Archvel read the words, his eyes widened in understanding.

Jareth had informed him of a dimensional rift, a gateway to unknown realms and hidden treasures. Archvel''s heart quickened with excitement at the prospect of such an adventure.

"This could prove to be interesting."

Archvel thought and smiled as he put his right hand on his chin.

The document outlined the importance of exploring the rift and the potential benefits it could bring to both the Tower of the Black Sun and Archvel himself.

“Of course, the mages always seek more knowledge and power. What is there in the best place to look for it?”

"It would also make my bonds with The Tower of the Black Sun more robust. It is easy to see that in these lands, without enough power, being alone is just a death wish."

Archvel folded the document and placed it securely in his robe.

He looked at Leyla and Ezekiel and said,

    "Thank you for delivering this."

Leyla and Ezekiel exchanged glances, smiling.

They had come to trust and respect Archvel, recognizing his power; the fact that their teacher, Jareth, who they respected a lot and a council member of their organization, respected Archvel, helped a lot for them to see Archvel in a good light.

After some time, Leyla and Ezekiel went on their way and left Archvel alone.

Archvel read in the document that he needs to give some sort of approval to travel to the Dimensional Rift in three days, but the real mission will start in one year.

So even if he accepts the dimensional rift mission, he will still have one year to prepare for everything.

Before Leyla and Ezekiel left, they left him a magical item named the Message Ring, or Ring of Contact, which can be used ten times. It is basically a phone with ten times the use of a short message.

Ezekiel said to himself that he could use this ring to send or receive messages from Jareth.

"If the travel time was in just three days, I would not like to accept this journey."You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

"But considering that I will have one year of time, it is just foolish to not accept an opportunity like this."

Archvel smiled. He went back to Dark Archive, put the document close to his bedside table, and then sat on his chair as one of the skeletons entered his room with a hot cup of tea.

Archvel took a sip of his tea and then nodded.

"I will accept the mission after two days and send them a message."

"Right now, the most important thing is to improve my abilities and magical knowledge to their fullest."

"For a fact, I did not know anything about Dimensional Rift, and it shows that I am not nearly enough for a mission like this."

"At the same time, my personal combat capabilities and my undead army, as well as their utility, should be more useful for a mission like this."

    -

For the time being, Archvel just kept on reading for more knowledge.

He has learned that the bone type used to create the skeleton has different kinds of effects on the skeleton. According to the tomes and books, the best part to use to create any kind of skeleton is the skull itself.

The more intact the skull, the more powerful and perfect the skeleton created will be.

It is something simple but important.

Archvel let out a deep breath and started eating the plate of meat in front of himself.

    One Day Later

Archvel took a deep breath and whispered.

    "Status."

    "Archvel Detriment"

    "Stage 4: Necromancer (Level 4)"

    "Magic: 9.5"

    "Physical Power: 6.5"

    Spells

"Conjure Skeleton Level 3 (Conjure six skeletons from the underground; the power of each skeleton increased by 15%, and the defensive power of each skeleton increased by 15%)."

"Decay Bolt (able to shoot up a dark energy filled with decay in the form of a bolt)

    "Dark Burst"

    "Predatory Eyes"

    Passive Ability

"Night Eyes (all necromancers have the ability to see better in the dark, around 50% to 70%)

"Basic Dark Magic Rune Understanding, Level 2"

"Basic Dark Magic Protection (Resistance against all magic spells is 10% and 20% against light magic spells)"

    "Ancient Language Mastery"

    "Human Body Mastery Level 2"

    "Death Investigation Level 2"

    "Cleaning Level 3"

    "Skeleton Creation, Level 2"

Archvel took a look at his status and smiled.

    "I improve slowly but surely."

If any dark mage or light mage heard what Archvel thought of his power increase levels, they would like to kill him and then make a skeleton slave out of his skeleton, even if the murderer is a light mage.

Archvel did not know that for ordinary mages, even the talented ones reaching his level would need five to seven years of constant study and battle practice.

Archvel closed off his status and then kept on creating skeletons.

In two days, his skeleton numbers have reached one hundred.

"I need a skeleton ring for myself."

    Archvel thought.

A skeleton ring is a magical object that was used to store skeletons that one himself created.

Even the simplest one costs more than twenty gold coins. But for the time being, Archvel had no problem buying it.

Archvel used the message ring and then sent his message.

In a sense, his first mission and target was to gather and find himself a skeleton ring in the first place.

The reason he first accepted the investigation of Elliot Ken was to earn gold coins to have resources to acquire the Skeleton Ring.

"I accept the mission and will show myself when the time is right, and I need a skeleton ring." I will be paying twenty gold coins for it."

After Archvel sent his message, he placed the ring on the table and started waiting.

Ten minutes later, the ring buzzed, and a message manifested in front of him.

"It is good to hear you accept the mission, Archvel. I will send you a skeleton ring with level 2 enhancements, which will let you fit more than one thousand skeletons inside of it."

"The real price for the skeleton ring level 2 is about three hundred gold coins, but it is my gift to you. You can pay it later or not pay it."

    Archvel said nothing.

"I am not sure this is a good thing or not."

"It is simple knowledge that accepting gifts from criminal organizations is never a good thing."

"Considering dark mages are not that different from criminals of this world and they are all evil in the simplest sense, it just does not make any sense."

"But there is no need for me to not accept it, as it would seem like I am not trusting them and have no future with them."

"If I don''t have a future with them, it will make them suspicious of me, and it would be better for them to just shut me off instead of letting me grow and have alliances with other organizations."

Archvel thought deeply and then sent his message.

"I got it; thank you for your gift."
