Chapter 910 The One I Cherish (Part One)

When Mike and Greg stepped into the VIP lounge, they found Lawrence and Tim already seated on the

    sofa.

"Wow, what a surprise! I didn''t expect you two to be here so early," Mike gushed, as he came over to

Lawrence and sat next to him. Greg made his way to the sofa near Tim and took a seat.

"Who is your femalepanion, Mike? Do we know her?" Tim asked Mike wickedly. His lips were

curved slightly as if he was hiding his amusement.

"Mike is bringing a big shot. They was the talk of the party when they appeared in the lobby. One is the

son of the big boss of the underworld and the other is the daughter of the chief of the Public Security

Bureau. It created a stir," Greg disclosed with a casual smile as he sat cross-legged on the sofa.

"Amanda Wang?" Lawrence questioned in amazement as he gave Mike a sidelong nce.

Mike did not answer Lawrence. Resting his eyes on Greg, he snapped, "How about you, Greg? You are

bringing the daughter of the Director of Finance to the party. Your hospital makes a considerable profit

daily. Now you have chosen the daughter of the Director as your femalepanion. What''s your n?

Are you trying to control the economy of the city?"

"You know me so well Mike," Greg jested right back. As he caught a glimpse of Lawrence''s expression,

Greg hastily sat up straight and exined, "I''m just kidding, Lawrence."

Tim burst intoughter and ced his hand around Greg''s shoulder. "Be careful, Greg. You are Violet''s

husband. If you dare cheat on her, Lawrence will not spare you."

"Stop making fun of him. He has no guts to do that," Mike chimed in. He drank some wine and

continued, "We all know Greg is an affectionate man and only cares about Violet. Besides, with

Lawrence around, he will not dare to flirt with his femalepanion..." He shifted his gaze from Tim to

Lawrence and went on, "We can rece her father with our man if we wish. What do you say to this,

    Lawrence?"

    Lawrence remained silent.

"But how did you persuade her to partner you, Greg? I heard that she seldom parties," Tim fixed his

eyes on Greg as he asked curiously.

"I just asked if she would be my dance partner and she agreed. It was as simple as that," Greg replied

casually enjoying himself. He just wanted to make Tim envious.

"Oh, I see. I am not jealous of you. I have my Alice and that''s enough," Tim said earnestly. At the

thought of Alice, he was overwhelmed with happiness.

"Looks like only Greg and I are single now. Lawrence has Aria, and you have Alice. Greg and I are the

poor guys," Mike said to Tim.

"Mike, don''t forget that Greg has Violet," Tim corrected Mike.

"But Violet isn''t here. Lawrence can''t keep Gregpany throughout the whole party, can he?" Mike

argued as he looked at Lawrence for a reaction.

"Can''t you just shut up for some time?" Lawrence snapped as he frowned at Mike.

    "Okay," Mike shrugged.

"How is your business going on, Tim?" Lawrence asked abruptly as he tried to change the topic.

When speaking of work, Tim changed his demeanor immediately. He replied with assurance, "It is

going well. I have acquired ownership of all the four-star hotels and above."

"So does that mean you even own all the JC Group hotels?" Mike asked with wide eyes. Lawrence was

so generous that he had even transferred all his hotels to Tim, he thought.

"Yes, all of them," Tim replied confidently. "Otherwise my dear parents-inw wouldn''t have agreed to

my marriage with their loving daughter," he added derisively.

"Well, I see. Looks like a good match is very important to all parents," Mike remarked. As he finished

his words, the atmosphere in the room changed and an eerie silence followed.

Tim and Greg nced at each other and then looked meaningfully at Mike. The three finally looked at

Lawrence. This very topic had long troubled Violet''s brother.

At the moment, someone knocked on the door. They all looked up to see Ivy who was standing there

with her hand still on the door.

"Mr. Lawrence," Ivy called out politely.

"Ivy babe, you look gorgeous today," Mike osted her andplimented her as she came in.

"Thank you, Mr. Mike," Ivy nced at him and replied with a small smile. She then switched her eyes

    back to Lawrence.

    "What''s up?" Lawrence asked coldly.

Ivy swept her gaze through the other three before settling on her boss. "The charity event is about to

start shortly. I wanted to remind you that it is time to go down and join the party," she replied carefully.

Hearing this, Greg nced at his wristwatch. He got up and said, "Yes, it is almost time. We should

head down the stairs. Thank you Ivy."

Mike and Tim also got to their feet and followed Greg out.

When Lawrence stood up, Ivy walked to his side and held his arm. They left the lounge together.

All the guests were seated in the lobby. The auctioneer was standing on the stage. He made the

opening remarks and introduced the flows.

Lawrence looked at the auctioneer absentmindedly. The speech the auctioneer was giving was dull.

His attention wandered and he nced around. He spotted someone whose back was to him but still

looked familiar. He stared hard trying to ce the person.

Ivy saw Lawrence''s attention was focused elsewhere. She followed his gaze and saw Anna Dou whom

she had met earlier at the party.

"What are you looking at, Lawrence?" whispered Alice who was sitting next to Lawrence.

Even though she spoke in a low voice, Mike and the rest heard her as they were all seated at the same

    table.

Lawrence didn''t take his eyes off that figure sitting ahead. After a long time, he said, "She looks

familiar. I think she is one of my friends."

Ivy got rattled on hearing this.

"Who? Where? Do I know her?" Mike asked with interest.
