Chapter 685 Getting The Marriage Certificate (Part One)
"Get married?" Fred asked, astounded at what Greg just told him. His decision to marry Violet was not
a surprise. His decision to marry this fast surprised him the most. After all, Violet did not juste from
a simple Chinese family. She''s a member of the Chu Family. And they needed to get the Chu Family''s
blessing before they could get married.
"Yes, Dad," Greg assured Fred. He knew exactly what his father thought when he saw the expression
on Fred''s face. "The Chu Family already gave us their blessing, with Uncle Jackson, Auntie Cherry,
and the Yuwen family. They all approved our marriage."
"Are you sure about this, son?" Fred was still trying to grasp the information he just heard. He still
couldn''t believe Greg and Violet were getting married.
"Yes, Violet told me in person," Greg reported to his father.
"Okay, have you thought of your ns?" When Fred saw the determination in Greg''s eyes, he then
epted the fact.
"We''re going to get our marriage certificate first tomorrow. And then we''ll talk about the wedding
ceremony," Greg stated.
"Don''t you want a wedding ceremony first?" Fred questioned Greg. Usually, a wedding ceremony must
take ce before getting married. He wasn''t expecting that Greg and Violet wanted to get married first.
"That''ll take too long. We want to get married first," Greg answered.
Fred couldn''t think of how to respond to Greg.
Fred took his time before he said his next words. "You can go get the household register in the study.
And invite Violet for lunch here tomorrow."N?velDrama.Org content rights.
"Thanks, Dad, I''ll tell Violet," Greg replied with a smile. He was about to turn away when he
remembered one more thing he needed to request from Fred. "Uh, Dad?" Fred faced his son,"Yes,
Greg?"
Greg paused and eyed the kitchen door before he returned to Fred,"Please don''t tell Sharon anything
yet."
"Huh? But why?" Fred was confused. He knew they got along and they had a good time tonight. Why
was Greg asking him not to say anything?
"Just tell her after we get the marriage certificate. I just have a feeling she might interfere if she knew
before we got it," Greg exined. Greg knew his Stepmother''s mind. They had a good rtionship now
because he had always stopped her from learning more about Violet. If she knew they were getting the
marriage certificate tomorrow, she would definitely do something to stop it.
"I don''t know, son," Fred told Greg honestly. Fred knew his son also had mixed opinions about Sharon.
And he understood why Greg would want to keep this from her but she and Fred spent every day
together. It was going to be hard to keep this secret from her.
"Dad, please do this for me. Just this one, please," Greg begged. He couldn''t allow anyone to destroy
his happiness.
Fred pondered on his son''s words and finally agreed to it. "Okay, just this one. Remember to ask Violet
for lunch."
"Okay, thanks, Dad. I''ll go upstairs now," Greg remarked with a smile. He got up and pranced towards
the stairs.
The next morning, Greg stood outside the main entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau. He fidgeted in
ce while he kept looking at his watch, which now read 8:50 am.
Greg couldn''t wait any longer and took out his phone to dial Violet''s number. He had already been
waiting for 10 minutes at this point.
"Greg!" Violet answered on the first ring.
"Violet, where are you? Are you near?" Greg wanted to know.
"I''m on my way. Are you there already?" Violet asked.
"I have arrived for some time. Are you almost here?" Greg wanted to know.
"Maybe in ten minutes. There''s a lot of traffic," Violet reported while she stared at the traffic ahead.
"Okay, take care, I''m here, waiting for you," Greg told her. He tried to convince himself that he wasn''t in
a hurry but his heart wouldn''t listen. All sorts of worst case scenarios ran through his head, including
Violet never arriving and leaving him alone there, waiting.
"Okay, I''ll be there soon," Violet dered.
When she ended the call, she leaned over to the driver,"Please hurry up."
The driver scanned the streets before he answered Violet. "Are you getting your marriage certificate at
the bureau today?"
Violet nodded. "Yes, my fiance is already waiting for me there. We''re supposed to meet at nine."
The driver nced at the clock on the dashboard and smiled at Violet. "Don''t worry, miss, we''ll be there
in 10 minutes."
"Okay, yes, that''s great, thank you."
Violet saw Greg by the side of the main entrance as soon as she got off the car. She ran towards him.
"Greg!" Violet shouted his name as her high-heeled feet pounded on the pavement to get to him.
Greg turned to Violet when he heard her shout out his name. He went down to meet her halfway and
shouted,"Slow down, there''s no need to run."
Violet went to Greg and grabbed his hands,"Sorry, I''m sote."
"You''re just in time. And even if you werete for hours, I''d still wait for you," Greg dered to Violet. It
didn''t matter what time she came, the important part here was that she came. As long as she wanted to
Violet smiled at Greg. She took his hand and said,"Let''s get married."
"Let''s do it."
Together, they marched into the bureau, hand in hand. Twenty minutester, they came out, still hand
in hand, and their other free hand with a red booklet.
"Where are we off to now, Greg?" Violet asked, a grin stered on her face.
Greg stopped to face Violet,"Should we call each other husband and wife now?"
Violet knew Greg words were true. They were legally married now. And she should refer to Greg as her
husband. But she still felt shy about it.
