Chapter 624 Discharging Violet From Hospital (Part One)
A Month Later
Standing at the hospital''s gate, dressed in casual loose clothes, Violet cheerfully held Alice''s hand.
"I was finally free of that hospital!" Violet eximed, as she heaved a great sigh of relief, and looked up
at the clear blue sky.
"Yes, and tomorrow we can go to school together," Alice said delightedly, thrilled to see Violet so lively
and happy. All of a sudden, a shadow came over her face as she thought of Violet''s scars. Everyone
knew how much pain Violet felt.
Jackson and Cherry nced at each other, and then at their daughter. Seeing the radiant smile return
to Violet''s face again, gave them each a great sense of joy and made them smile.
"Violet looks so happy!" Amy said relieved, as she held Derek''s arm. She was thrilled that Violet was
recovering from the tremendous blow she took and looking happy again.
"Yes, her bright smile must be a big relief for Jackson and Cherry," Derek added.
Standing behind everyone, Lawrence and Mike watched Violet intently.
"Violet, Violet!" Greg called abruptly, as he ran towards Violet with a small gift box in his hand.
Everyone, including Violet, turned and looked at Greg. Standing still with a face full of mingled surprise
and joy, Violet watched Greg rush up to her.
"Greg, why are you here?" asked Violet smiling readily.
A little out of breath, Greg gasped and held onto his knees. He took a few deep breaths and
exined,"When my dad told me you were going home from the hospital today, I wanted toe meet
you here." Greg presented a box to Violet in his outstretched hand and said,"I have a gift here for you!"
Intrigued by the small box, Violet stared at it and asked,"What is it?" Gingerly taking the box, smiling at
Greg, she blushed. As Violet opened the box she saw an exquisite ne, in the shape of the
famous "the Heart of the Ocean".
"Wow, that''s so beautiful, Violet!" Alice eximed excitedly when she saw the ne. Her eyes were
gleaming with enthusiasm as she thought, ''I have seen a great many jewels, but none of them were as
unique as this.''
The unexpected precious gift brought Violet much pleasure.
"Thank you, Greg," she sighed dreamily.
"You''re wee. I hope you like it and wear it," Greg replied cordially.
"Oh yes! Of course I will!" Violet giggled, staring into Greg''s eyes. She didn''t dislike Greg, but only saw
him as a friend. He was also the son of her father''s friend, which was the only other thing the two of
them shared.
Staring at Violet''s brilliant smile made Greg happy. He thought, ''I''m exhrated that Violet is finally back
to the lively, optimistic girl I know. If not for the scars she must have, no one would know something
terrible happened to her. The ne represents my heart, so, now my heart is hers. I have no idea
how deep my love for her runs, but, I know that at the very least, I have a crush on her.''
Soon, Jackson and his family were back home. When Lily and Bill caught sight of Violet, they greeted
her excitedly,"Wee home, Miss Violet!"
"Lily, I missed your noodles with soybean paste so much! You must cook them for me this afternoon!"
Violet demanded while making a mischievous face.
"Yes, of course. I will prepare some for you right now!" replied Lily smiling warmly. ''I''m delighted to see
Violet back to her cheerful self again. Now that she''s recovered from that blow, Jackson, Cherry, and
Lawrence must be ted too. Since Violet''s injury, I have watched them. I feared the family might fall
into misery. But, now Violet is smiling again, which tells me the family is as harmonious and happy as it
used to be, '' she mused contentedly.
Later in the evening, after dinner, Violet went up to bed. Cherry went upstairs with Violet to sit with her
until she was fast asleep, then Cherry tucked her in and left the room.

Standing in the doorway to his room, Lawrence waited nervously. He wanted to talk to his parents
though. He heard the soft sound of his sister''s door opening and then saw his mothere out and
close the door quietly.
Cherry turned and went straight to Lawrence when she saw him.
"Lawrence, why aren''t you asleep?" she asked.
Having made up his mind, Lawrence stated bluntly,"I have something to tell you and Dad, Mom."
When she saw Lawrence was preupied, Cherry nodded,"Your dad is in our room. Let''s go in there
to talk," she suggested.
Cherry took his hand as they went to her bedroom.
Jackson sat in bed reading thetest financial magazine. When he heard the door opening, he figured
it was Cherry. But when he raised his head, it was Lawrence standing in front of him.
"Lawrence?" Jackson asked surprised.
From behind Lawrence, Cherry stated tly,"Our son said that he had something to tell us." She led
him over to the couch.
Lawrence remained silent and sat down on the sofa with Cherry. Jackson noticed the seriousness of
Lawrence''s expression, and got out of bed to sit beside him.
"What''s up, Lawrence?" asked Cherry.
Lawrence shot Jackson a nce before looking over at his Mom and decisively announcing,"I want to
go abroad."
"Go abroad?" echoed Cherry dumbfounded. She was shocked at Lawrence''s announcement and
wondered, ''Why does Lawrence suddenly want to go overseas?''
An equally confused Jackson stared at Lawrence thoughtfully as he analyzed what he knew, ''I don''t
know why he wants to go abroad. But, if he intends to study abroad, I won''t oppose it. I just want to
know the reason.''
"Yeah," Lawrence nodded.
"Lawrence, I want to know your thoughts. The honest reason you want to go," Cherry said tenderly.
''After I know his reason, I can determine whether I support his decision or not, '' she thought.
