Chapter 610 Her Secret (Part Two)
Lawrence continued to stare out the window as he thought of his Mother''s words the night before. What
she''d said moved him, and he decided that it was time for he to face some things on his own.
During the morning session at school, Lawrence didn''t talk to Reba, not even to tell her why he
hadn''t picked her up that morning. Usually, he would exin why he hadn''t, but, today he didn''t want to
talk to her at all.
The bell rang, letting the students and staff know it was end of the morning sessions, and time for
lunch. All the students tidied their desks before leaving.
After cleaning up his space, Mike walked over to Lawrence, as usual, and patted his arm, saying,"Let''s
go to lunch."
"Okay," Lawrence replied as he stood up ready to leave the room with Mike.
The boys heard Reba suddenly shout,"Lawrence!"
Lawrence stopped walking when he heard her calling. Mike stopped, looking at Lawrence, who
appeared calm. Looking over at Reba, Mike could see she was very nervous. Therefore, he wasn''t
sure what to do.
"Lawrence, I''ll go ahead to the canteen. Do you want me to get lunch for you?" asked Mike. Since Mike
knew Lawrence so well, he guessed afterst night''s conversation, Lawrence didn''t pick Reba up

"Sure, buy lunch for me. Thank you." replied Lawrence.
"All right, I will," Mike said as he ducked outta the room.
Aside from Lawrence and Reba, there were two boys in the room, not too far off, doing homework.
As soon as Reba was close enough to Lawrence, she tugged at his school uniform and asked in a
hushed tone,"What''s wrong? Are you having trouble at home? Why didn''t you pick me up this
morning?"
"I didn''t pick you up because I had something else to do," Lawrence casually said. Not wanting to
exin any further he added,"I''m going to lunch now."
He left the ssroom quickly.
Watching his back until he waspletely out of sight, Reba finally gave into the tears as she
wondered if Lawrence didn''t want to be with her anymore. Had he found something out about her?
Reba Lin''s fingers clenched into a tight fist, and her eyes were full of resolve as she stared ahead at
nothing and reminded herself, ''No, I won''t allow him to dump me. Without him, I won''t get into an elite
high school. I know Lawrence will study at a premier high school like a majority of my ssmates.
Since I don''t want to be the minority, I have to be epted into an elite high school, and that means, I
must hold onto Lawrence. As long as I''m with him, I will be able to alter my life. He is the man who can
change my future.''
There were two self-study sses after lunch. After students finished their lessons, they were permitted
to do as they wanted freely. Everywhere one looked there was activity. Whether at the library, on the
the atmosphere for learning was satisfying, while over at the conservatory, sounds of dancing and the
piano being yed were heard.
Lawrence sat at his desk preparing for the exams scheduled for next week. He wasn''t as familiar with
some of the information and needed to go over what they were learning.
Over at his desk, Mike quietly read a big, bulky novel, carefully. Huddled around an iPad, Jason and
some other friends were watching a scary movie.
Reba was over in her seat as well. asionally she would bend over and scribble several words
on paper, and steal a nce over at Lawrence studying hard. Reba wanted to walk over there and
talk to him, but, there hadn''t been a chance to so far. Lawrence was the type of person who didn''t want
to be bothered while studying, and she knew that. At that moment, Reba suddenly realized there
was a sort of person, who was so dignified that she would have no chance of approaching him, no
matter what was tried, because, he was outside her world.
Suddenly, her phone made a shrill sound that made her jump. It was a notification of a text, so it
stopped making noise within seconds.
The sharp noise attracted the attention of Mike, Jason and other boys sitting nearby, and they realized
even before shooting a nce over that it had been her cell.
Automatically, Reba reached for her phone, looking down as she read the text.
''Come to the rehearsal room on the fifth floor. I''ll be waiting there for you, '' the message read.
After reading the message, Reba swiped the screen to lock it. The text had been from Dan Huo,
and as she thought about his message, she peeked over at Lawrence again, who was engrossed in his
studies.
She wasn''t sure why Lawrence was mad at her or ignoring her, but, Reba was too busy dwelling on
that to consider meeting Dan. Maybe, something she did upset him. Perhaps, Lawrence had
discovered something about her. Either way, until she discerned the reason she had no time to deal
with other things.
Reba lowered her head pretending to read a book.
Peering over at Reba, Mike saw she had settled into reading a book, so, he determined the text
was nothing special, and he went back to reading his novel too.
Five minutester, Reba''s cell red again. She was in a mess, fumbling to shut it up and read the
text.
This time her face turned red as she read, ''I''ll give you ten minutes, and if you don''t meet me, I''lle
find you in your ssroom.''
It was a second text from Dan Huo asking her to meet him.
Looking up at Lawrence in a panic, Reba wondered if he had even heard her phone because he
was still studying as hard as before.
She didn''t know what to do. If Dan came here, Lawrence would know everything about her. But, she
didn''t really want to see Dan Huo just then. She was confused at Lawrence''s strange behavior and
there was no room for her to entertain ideas about meeting up with Dan.
Reba lowered her head, looking at the text again, mulling the options over. Finally, she decided to
go meet up with Dan, so, Lawrence wouldn''t discover anything.
She packed her school bag, and grasping her phone, she got up and left the room.
