Chapter 605 An Unexpected Discovery (Part Three)


    Hearing his thoughtful words, Reba Lin beamed and yfully giggling remarked,"Well, I know that,"


    and tucked her arm into Lawrence''s as they continued walking down the sidewalk again.


    After taking only a few steps, Reba Lin unexpectedly asked,"Lawrence?"

    "Are we a couple?" asked Reba Lin hesitantly.

    "Lawrence! Are you teasing me?" she asked indignantly.

    He walked Reba Lin to her gate, and then looked at his watch thinking, ''It''s still early! If I meet Mike


    now, we can y basketball for two hours.


    Lawrence Chu took his phone out and called Mike Yu right away.


    "What can I do for you, Mr. Hero? Are you done with the pretty girl, and have some free time for your


    friends now?" The sarcastic words carried through the phone into Lawrence''s ear.


    "Hey, I have time to shoot some hoop now, where are you?" asked Lawrence Chu. He got straight to


    the point, to see if Mike Yu still wanted to y basketball.


    "Really?" The tone in his voice told Lawrence that even though Mike was delighted, he was also


    surprised and skeptical about whether the invite was real. "Tell me where you wanna meet, and I will be


    right there!"


    "How about we meet at the court near my ce in an hour?" asked Lawrence Chu.


    "Cool! It''ll be more fun if there are more of us, so, I''ll call Jason and Ben and let them know, okay?"


    Mike Yu suggested.


    "Yeah, whatever," replied Lawrence Chu, rolling his eyes at the receiver as he clicked to end the call.


    Half an hourter, carrying his backpack, Lawrence Chu got to the basketball court. He saw Mike Yu


    and two other boys waiting around. The four of them were acquainted with each other for they were


    studying in the same ss.


    "You''rete!" snapped Mike Yu.


    Lawrence tossed his bag under the basketball hoop as he shouted,"Geez, shut up and let''s y!"


    "Ooh, looks like Lawrence is about to kick Mike''s ass!" Jason taunted smirking.


    "Ha! It''s redundant how much Mike boasts!" Ben quipped yfully.


    "Ben! How dare you tease me? How about I let you see how good I am out on the court? That''ll shut


    you up!" Mike bit back. After hearing Mike, Ben threw in,"Right! I''m gonna block your shots, you''ll see!"


    "You wanna go? Hey, your funeral! It''s on, let''s go!" Mike confidently countered.


    The four paired off into two teams and chased the ball up and down the court blocking and dodging


    with agility to toss the ball into the hoop. All four loved ying basketball, and as sweaty and


    exhausted as they were getting, they wereughing and enjoying out maneuvering each other to score.


    They were having so much fun. It seemed to be dark in the blink of an eye.


    Panting in between words, Mike managed to say,"Guys, I need a break! I am wiped out! I quit,"


    inwardly heined, ''I can''t hold out any longer. This happens every time I y against Lawrence!


    He gives me such a hard time, and always beats me. I''m done with it.''


    "Okay," Lawrence agreed and said to the other guys,"That''s it for today. Let''s take a short break before


    we leave." He casually dribbling the ball a few times before letting it drop and bounce slower and


    slower, till it stopped as he spoke.


    "Okay," they replied.


    The four of them sat in a row, gulping down the bottled water they each had.


    "Lawrence, how did you get so good at basketball? I can''t take it. It''s not fair!" whined Mike dissatisfied


    with how the game went. The more he thought of how embarrassing it was out on the court, the more


    pissed he got at Lawrence. ''He didn''t let up on guarding the hoop against my shots for even a second!


    It was like he had it out for me! How could he treat me this way?'' he silentlyined.


    "Come on, Mike, you know Lawrence isn''t just a good student, but, an excellent athlete!" Jason teased.


    "Yeah, yeah, and don''t forget how popr he is with the girls," Mike sighed adding,"Why doesn''t


    anyone in the ss like me?"


    The smile vanished from Jason''s face at Mike''s revtion. He nced at Lawrence silently sitting


    silently next to him, and frowning thought, ''I want to tell him, but, should I? If I know him as well as I


    think, he will very likely get pissed at what I tell him.''


    "Jason, did you wanna say something?" Mike asked. Noticing Jason''s hesitant expression prompted


    Mike to ask.


    Jason''s face grew flushed,"N-o-no, n-nothing at a-all," he stammered.


    "Pssht! Stop acting like a girl and just say what''s on your mind!" urged Mike prodding Jason.


    Three sets of eyes stared expectantly at Jason as he sat there red-faced thinking a moment or so


    longer before finally deciding to share what he knew. Taking a deep breath, he faced Lawrence staring


    into his eyes and began,"I''m not sure if I should be telling you this."


    "Come on and spit it out, already!" Mike pushed. He asked himself, ''This isn''t like Jason. He isn''t


    secretive like this. I wonder what''s going on?'' Mike didn''t like people who kept secrets.


    "It''s.. ummm... It''s about Reba," Jason''s voice trembled as he spoke.


    A sudden silence fell over the basketball court.


    There was a perplexed expression on Lawrence''s shocked face and he asked himself, ''What''s wrong


    with Reba?''


    Looking at Jason and scowling, Lawrence demanded,"What about Reba? Tell me, now!"


    "Do you remember the day you and Mike went over to the canteen for lunch? It was two days ago, and


    I stayed behind? While I was sitting there, in the ssroom, I saw Reba and Dan Huo eat together,


    who was from the other ss," Jason warily imparted while reflecting, ''I have to be very cautious with


    my words. What if Lawrence gets annoyed? He could do anything if he was pissed off! The Chu family


    is so powerful and rich in the city. He could probably raze the city to the ground if he wanted.''
