Chapter 538 Sweet Call (Part One)

When Sally looked into the cold depths of Mond''s eyes and knew he wasn''t joking, she kept quiet.

After a long pause, Sally opened her mouth,"Fine, I agree. I will leave tomorrow."

"You''ve made a wise choice," finally getting what he wanted, Mond nodded his approval as he

    responded.

"But, you need to know something before I go," Sally said frowning. Since seeing that woman

yesterday, Sally hadn''t been able to stop thinking of the woman''s face, nor shake off the bad feeling

    she had.

    "What is it?" asked Mond.

Sally was entangled in her thoughts, stuck in the events of the day before rey over and over again.

She stated,"You remember the woman who took Jackson away? That woman knows what happened to

    our families years ago."

Mond was taken by surprise at Sally''s utterance, and left his mind in a flurry with questions, ''Sally must

be referring to what happened to the He and An Families. But?? Who could she be though? And, how

could this woman, whoever she is, know anything about what happened?''

Since Mond didn''t respond, Sally gave a stern look as she said,"Look, Mond, as far as I know, you are

the only one aside from my family, the An and the Chu Families who know what happened, okay? But I

am telling you that woman knows too!"

Mond shrugged, asking the most obvious question,"Well, did she live in the military residential

learned, Mond decided, ''The only exnation for this would be, that she grew up in the military

residentialpound, and she heard about it as a child, from the grown-ups. After all, the older

generation at thepound would have known what punishment the He and An Families had

    received.''

Having thought of all scenarios, Sally shook her head. "No, I''m sure she wasn''t from the residential

"Then how could she know?" Mond''s mind was still reying the possible ways this mysterious woman

could know. ''How could anyone know about what happened if they weren''t living on the residential

here a while, and no one gave her a hard time, it stands to reason, she would have had to be there,

right? What on earth is going on now?''

"I have no idea," said Sally, with a troubled expression on her face. She thought, ''That''s what bewilders

me the most. My family, the An Family and Stephen never shared the details with anyone else. I don''t

think Jackson would have told anyone either. That just leaves Andrew, but he''s more meticulous than I

am. Would he have let the cat out of the bag?''

"Sally, think, are you sure you never met that woman?" Mond asked.

"I''m quite sure about this," Sally firmly stated, while thinking about Andrew, and reminding herself that

he had nothing to do with it.

There was a look of confusion on Mond''s face as he murmured,"Then, how would she have known? It

makes no sense." After contemting, he continued,"Who on earth is she?"

Instead of spending anymore time dwelling on who the mysterious woman was, Sally gave Mond a

serious look and told him,"Mond, l''m going to leave like I was told, but, keep an eye out for that woman.

If she knows what happened to my family, I''m worried about what else she knows. She might know

your true identity. Please, be careful."

Mond nodded while mulling over the information, ''Well, if she''s able to acquire knowledge of

confidential events that happened on the military residentialpound, she would most likely figure out

what my rtionship with the Chu Family is.''

"Oh, and one more thing," she went on. "The woman looked like a professional killer. I think she''s

dangerous, even more than Jackson. She scared me."

Mond didn''t tell Sally, but, he had some idea of who the woman''s real identity was. ''She might have

something to do with the events back then. I don''t want to let Sally know though. She''s leaving and I

don''t want to involve more people, '' he decided.

"Don''t give it too much thought. You''ll be out of the city tomorrow, and she won''t be able to hurt you. As

for me..." Mond paused, and then went on,"I''m not associated with her, and I don''t know her, so it''ll be

impossible for her to get her hands on me. So don''t worry."

Looking at Mond''s calm expression, Sally didn''t say anything more.

The next morning, Sally arrived at the airport. She wore a khaki trench coat, and strolled up to the

security checkpoint carrying her luggage. An advertisement on the wall caught her attention.

The ad was for infant form. The picture was of a mother carrying her baby and depicted motherly

    love, which broke Sally''s heart.

She stopped and stood in front of the oversized picture. Her sunsses hid her reddened eyes as

tears trickled from under the rims and down her cheeks.

Sally thought about her parents. Years ago, she was too young to understand her parents had
