Max fought the urgency to get a beer. He fought to just ignore the voices and continue on walking....waiting.
What for though? It''s boring as hell in this town!
Suddenly, Max''s attention turned back to the tavern.
No, no! You heard what Zack said.
Wait, why does it matter to him what Zack thinks?
He was only trying to help. A voice in his mind said.
He groaned, as he rubbed his skull. The urgency was like someone scratching him underneath his skin. The itch was unbearable.
The tale has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"Fuck!" Max said, giving up the fight.
He walked into the tavern and bought himself the beer he wanted. All of a sudden, his attention was drawn to the bartender talking to one of his customers.
The bartender spoke. "Yeah, I''ve known that that ship was traveling to Venice just yesterday."
Max then found himself interrupting the conversation. "Pardon me, but what exactly was being carried on that ship?"
The bartender looked at him with interest as he answered the question. "Gold, jewelry...you name it. Why does this knowledge pertain to you?"
Max lowered his head as he faked his own disappointment. "I - uh, lost something of mine there." He lied. "I didn''t realize until it was too late. Did you say that it''s in Venice?"
This was when the customer spoke. "I have a boat you can borrow! Though it''ll take double time to get there."
Max nodded, and smiled with gratitude. "Thank you!"
