I moved along the corridors to the gunnery decks of the ship. While I couldn''t steal one of the primary guns of the ship I could likely figure out all I needed to about them. Freshki was going to the armory to aquire an example of everything they had.
It has been two weeks. We have nicked things here and there, and she has gotten more comfortable with me. It''s just like I predicted, communication, sympathy, and understanding do wonders for interpersonal relationships.
Hell, it''s not even one way! I''m beginning to appreciate certain aspects of her. For example, she tends towards introspection far more often then most. I consider this a good thing. I do it too after all.
Her first project I set her on was getting examples of technology from her barracks. A simple in and out, where she knew the land and people. I gave her one of my labyrinths and sent her off. It worked as predicted.
I needed to check the labyrinths stability, but it was well within tolerances. By the end though I will likely have to stop... Eh, not a large issue. But anyhow, back to my monolog.
I know it''s a tad scummy to rob your employer of everything of personal interest in the name of science, however, I don''t care about them. I fucked up by leaving the tombworlds. And it''s due to a problem I''ve always had.
You see, if a matter holds my interest, I will focus on it to the neglect of other things. And if I lose interest, I ignore and distance myself from said matter. Due to what I perceive as my failure, boredom, tedium, and a few other things, I left. That is unacceptable. At least I caught myself before I made an irreparable mistake.
Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
So, I will take what I can, and then outfit my Dynasty for a new future of war. It is right, it is just, it is tedium incarnate. But, I must. For I, am an overlord, ruler of my dynasty! AND I AM NO FATHER WHO NEVER RETURNED WITH THE MILK!
...Wow, I should talk more with others. sigh. Anyhow, I''m here. I have asked to look around and they have granted permission. A junior enlisted is here to guide me, and I promptly follow.
I walk behind him on autopilot, and give token responses. I''m focused on my sensors and images of anything of interest.
The first thing to catch my eye is a secondary battery to a weapon of some sort. It is receiving maintenance in a room to my left. It''s energy storage is low, but it is a small battery. As we move along, I make sure to record it as well as I could.
We walk down the corridors as he tells me bits of knowledge. Like how fast the gun that battery connects to fires and so on. He also tells me we can''t go to one of the primary guns, but we can see a secondary and some tertiary ones. I tell him that''s acceptable.
I didn''t need the biggest. While size can factor into power, it can also be more beneficial to look at lesser weaponry. The likelihood that they are just as advanced is high, so in reality there is no loss.
The secondary weapon we visit is a railgun. It''s charge was light, and the crewman was telling me of its purpose, which was to target light ships. From what I saw that was accurate. In reality it looked like the railgun I had, only scaled up.
Did those fools just port a CIWS type gun to ground without trial or something? No wonder it had issues. But anyhow, I got the weapons information and we went onwards.
When we were done, I had seen lasers, railguns, but no plasma weaponry. Apparently that was the main gun. Now I AM mildly disappointed. I will have to get a good look at one later. Or... perhaps steal a ship. He did say that plasma weaponry was the goto.
Hmmm. A plan for later. I message Freshki, inquiring as to her status. A few seconds later I get the all clear. Good, good. Step whatever is complete. Now to debrief and the like.
