Chapter 4

The cabin was warm, safe, and empty. It looked like the inhabitants left it. It felt abandoned, but why would they leave just like that? She didn’t know. There was not a trace of anything that belonged to anyone inside that cabin. How long has it been abandoned? She didn’t know. Based on the old and weathered looked of it, it may have been a while. Will the inhabitants ever come back? She didn’t know. Free decided to stay in that cabin until she found a more suitable place.

The snow poured in like heavy frozen rain. It was quiet but it was cold. Free felt a sense of peace and calm despite the gloomy weather that she witnessed. Inside, it was warm and safe. Outside, it was cold and dangerous. She forgot that she was just an egg looking for her parents. The snow distracted her. It was so white, beautiful, quiet, and serene. From inside the cabin, she was able to watch the outside while staying warm. She didn’t have to do anything at all but watch from the window right across the ashes. What were they for? They looked like they used to be alive, but not anymore.Unauthorized use: this story is on Amazon without permission from the author. Report any sightings.

It was so quiet and peaceful inside that she felt sleepy. She chose a corner to sleep on. When she woke up, the weather was still the same. The snow continued to pour in, the sky was still gray and overcast. It was still safe and warm inside the cabin. Free thought the seagulls were her parents but she was wrong.
