When the light was finally switched on, the two men realized that the person they had been arguing with over an unequal share of the loot was not one of their own. Rather, he was the owner of the room!
In other words, they had been making fools of themselves.
Although they were irate, they knew they could not afford to linger in this ce. They needed to leave immediately.
Unfortunately for them, Luo Feng had no intention of letting them go.
Just as they were about to bolt out of the door, Luo Feng shut it with a foot and stood blocking the exit, eyeing them both.
“You went to great lengths to sneak in here. Leaving so soon would be a waste, wouldn’t it?”
As Luo Feng spoke, the two men realized they were likely doomed.
Nevertheless, they had no intention of giving up. They lunged at Luo Feng from both sides.
But what chance did these petty thieves have against Luo Feng?
With two swift chops of his hand, one to the left and one to the right, Luo Feng knocked them down almost simultaneously.
Lying on the ground, they looked up at Luo Feng who seemed to have already thought of tomorrow’s news headline:
“Thievese to blows over a dispute in sharing the loot with the owner of the property. ”
That headline sounded very much like something out of Florida.
Luo Feng then handed the two thieves over to the hotel staff and returned to his room to sleep.
The next morning, as Luo Feng was just waking up, he heard a bustlingmotion downstairs.
Curiosity getting the better of him, he quickly got dressed and went to investigate the source of the noise.
Upon arriving, he learned that many of the hotel’s guests had been robbed the previous night.
Among the guests were not only the dignitaries attending the auction but also some ordinary people who were merely staying there by chance.
Not wealthy by any means, these people were furious that all the money they had with them had been stolen.
The crowd gathered, demanding an exnation from the hotel, which was caughtpletely off guard. They had never encountered such a situation before—neither suchrge-scale theft nor such widespread protests.
The front desk staff were bewildered and didn’t know how to handle the situation. All they could do was apologize profusely while waiting for their manager.
However, if apologies were enough, there wouldn’t be such arge protest.
The manager, equally clueless, had no choice but to escte the matter further up the chain. For now, the front desk staff bore the brunt of the pressure.
After gathering the basic details, Luo Feng lost interest in the matter. He turned to leave but was stopped at the door by two burly men. “Sorry, no one is allowed to leave the hotel at the moment.” The men appeared to be bodyguards. Luo Feng frowned.
“What do you mean?”
“Our employer’s ck card is missing. Until it’s found, no one is allowed to leave.”
Hearing about the ck card, Luo Feng surmised it was likely the entry ticket to the auction.
He nced at the wall clock; there were still three hours until the auction began. Deciding it wasn’t worth making a fuss, he retreated back into the hotel.
He was curious to see how the hotel would handle the situation.
Amid escting protests, the hotel manager finally appeared before the crowd. His opening words were an exceedingly formal apology.
“Ladies and gentlemen, this situation is unfortunate and something none of us wished for. Nevertheless, it has urred, and it is indeed due to our hotel’sck of security for which we are deeply sorry!”
His apology was textbook, but the crowd wantedpensation, not empty words.
“What good is talking? Who will make up for our losses?”
“That’s right! I came here with all my savings to do business, and now it’s all stolen. If your hotel doesn’t provide a proper exnation, I’ll risk my life fighting you to the end!”
The crowd was increasingly agitated. The manager knew that unless they produced something tangible, the situation wouldn’t calm down.
“Our leadership is still discussing thepensation n. In the meantime, please register your losses. As soon as the n is finalized, we’ll notify you.”
The manager signaled, and the front desk staff hurriedly brought out notebooks for registration.
“Don’t worry, everyone. Our hotel takes responsibility very seriously. If you face any issues while staying with us, rest assured we will resolve them. We will not shirk our responsibilities!”
The manager’s promise seemed to mollify the agitated guests to some extent.
However, just when the crowd’s anger seemed to have subsided, a discordant voice rang out from among them..
