    The security guards were utterly bewildered. They had merely responded to a call from the front desk about someone causing trouble. How had they lost their jobs so abruptly?


    Working as a security guard in the Cosmic Tower was an entirely different leaguepared to other locations. For many, it was the ultimate dream job of their lives.


    Now, inexplicably, they were about to lose that dream job, a reality they found hard to ept.


    “It’s not that we were ipetent, sir. This young man is truly exceptional. Even if it weren’t us, anyone else would also likely be no match for him,” the guards desperately tried to justify their actions.


    Charlie, their boss, simply ignored them and continued walking. The guards wanted to catch up and continue their exnations, but Charlie’s secretary stopped them in their tracks.


    “Are you all really this stupid? Can’t you see that this gentleman is actually helping our boss?” said the secretary, his voice dripping with disdain.


    “He’s here to report progress, and you blind fools stopped him at the entrance.


    The fact that the boss is letting you off so lightly is already the utmost mercy. Had you dyed his work, even offering your lives would not make amends.”


    Realizing the gravity of whom they had offended, the guards finally understood their mistake. But it was toote. Along with the front desk staff, they were all fired. Luo Feng then followed Charlie to his office.


    “I’ll get straight to the point. Does yourpany employ someone named An?” Luo Feng asked.


    Charlie had no way of remembering every employee in such argepany. He searched hisputer before answering, “Yes, there is an An. He’s a business manager who just startedst week.”


    As he spoke, Charlie turned theputer screen to show Luo Feng. An’s detailed information was disyed, including a photograph. Luo Feng recognized him as the man he had dealt with regarding the sale of a cultural artifact.


    “I need to meet this person,” Luo Feng said.


    “Of course you can meet him, but first, could you give me a brief report of what’s going on?” Charlie queried.


    He then sent a message to his secretary to bring An to the office, and sat back, waiting for Luo Feng’s exnation.


    Luo Feng recounted the events in full. Charlie frowned upon hearing it all.


    “So, you’re working on a hunch?” he asked.


    “Although it’s a hunch, it’s highly credible. A meeting with him should reveal more.” Luo Feng resDonded.


    While they were speaking, An was brought to the office door. After a brief report from the secretary, Charlie nodded, and the secretary ushered An inside.


    Charlie remained seated, but Luo Feng greeted An with a smile, “We meet again, Mr. An.”


    Luo Feng had expected An, who must have been acting out of guilty conscience, to betray some sign of nervousness. Any sign of fear would make it easier for Luo Feng to deal with him.


    However, An remained unfazed, as if nothing had happened.


    “Yes, we meet again. However, the deal on that painting is not yet finalized. We’ll have to wait a few more days,” An feigned ignorance.


    Tired of An’s act, Luo Feng cut to the chase, “Who sent you?”


    “What do you mean? I acquired that painting and wanted to sell it. It’s just a normal business transaction. You can’t use me like that, ” An said, still unfazed.


    “An, don’t think you have many chances left. The fact that you’re still standing here is already the greatest mercy I can offer,” Luo Feng warned, his patience wearing thin.


    Just as Luo Feng was about to take action, Charlie had seen enough.


    “Why are you wasting time talking to him? Guards!” Charlie shouted, and immediately, two security guards rushed in.


    “Boss!” The guards looked menacing as they entered.


    Without wasting time, Charlie waved his hand, signaling them to take An away.


    Luo Feng was puzzled. “Aren’t you going to continue interrogating him?”


    “For uncooperative people like him, a taste of hardship is needed first. Otherwise, our words will fall on deaf ears,” Charlie said, his actions suggesting this was routine for him.


    Luo Feng said nothing more, and they waited in the office.
