    Encouraged by Jardins, Alice finally decided to meet with Charlie.


    After all, Charlie was her father.


    As a daughter who had run away from home, she felt obliged to discuss her ns with him. At the very least, it would ease his worries about her future.


    “Since you’ve made up your mind, go ahead,” said Luo Feng, expressing his support for Alice.


    “However, we must prepare for the possibility that your father might forcibly take you back.”


    With that, Luo Feng began making preparations. Meanwhile, Alice sat nervously, fidgeting with her fingers, unsure of what to do.


    “Don’t worry,” assured Jardins. “Luo Feng is highly capable. With him around, your father won’t be able to do anything to you. I’ll apany you to see your father as well. Both Luo Feng and I will protect you.” Jardins’ reassurances helped calm Alice’s nerves.


    “Thank you, sister.”


    The meeting was set for the evening.


    After making the necessary preparations, Luo Feng led Jardins and Alice to the agreed-upon location. Charlie had already been waiting there for some time.


    It was unlike Charlie to be punctual. Usually, others waited for him. Yet, for his daughter, he had arrived early and waited.


    Upon seeing his daughter behind Luo Feng and Jardins, Charlie’s expression froze momentarily before returning to normal.


    Once they were seated, Charlie spoke first.


    “Alice,e back. I’ve already withdrawn you from all the management courses I signed you up for.”


    Charlie had a vast business empire that he intended to pass on to Alice. To groom her managerial skills, he had enrolled her in various courses from a young age.


    But Alice had fled, overwhelmed by the weight of those expectations.


    “Dad, I’ve found what I want to do in life. I don’t want to take over yourpany. Can you ept that?” Alice asked.


    Upon hearing this, Charlie became agitated.


    “If you don’t inherit the family business, who will I pass it on to? Strangers?”


    Luo Feng had never seen Charlie, who had always beenposed, so unsettled before.


    Facing his daughter, Charlie struggled to maintain hisposure.


    “I’ve already made significant concessions. Can’t you understand my position?” Charlie pleaded.


    “I’ve arranged trustworthy people to assist you. You can even continue to do whatever you want for another ten or twenty years before taking over thepany. Isn’t that enough?”


    Luo Feng was astonished to see Charlie humbling himself so much before his young daughter.


    “Dad, I understand how much you want me to take over yourpany,” Alice began. “But I genuinely have no interest in managing it. Even if you give it to me, I’m afraid I won’t do well.”


    “Dad, you know I’ve never lied for my own benefit. If I’m saying this, it means I truly believe it.”


    “Can’t you consider my feelings?”


    “Over the years, apart from our disagreements on the business, have I ever denied you anything?”


    Seeing Charlie bing increasingly agitated, Alice fell silent, knowing that further talk would only escte into endless arguments.


    “Alice, let me ask you one more time. Are you truly unwilling to help me out?


    Even if it’s just a nominal position in thepany?”


    Alice remained silent, her face twisted in inner conflict.


    “Mr. Charlie, perhaps you could give her some time to think, ” suggested Luo Feng. “She’s still so young. A hasty decision on such a critical matter could lead to even greater problems in the future..”
