Chapter 190
Brett poured a ss of water, and Izabe took it, giggling again after taking a sip.
"Was what I said that funny?" he didn''t understand why Izabe had beenughing for so long, even
to the point of tears.
Izabe put down her ss, "It''s not that what you said is funny, I find myself ridiculous, ughing at
myself as a joke."
She had always loved Brett carefully, she donated her blood to save Kaley''s life, only to realize
today that she wasn''t the only one who couldn''t see the true faces of others, Brett was the same.
"I''d like to be alone tonight." Izabe''s red, swollen eyes startled Brett, but he didn''t think too much
about it, just assuming Izabe felt wronged that he was using her in exchange for Kaley.
He wanted to hold Izabe like usual, tofort her, but looking at Izabe''s cold expression, he
began to feel fear deep in his heart.
"Izabe, I know you''re scared, but I have to save Kaley. Don''t worry, I won''t let anything happen to
you..."
Izabe quietly said, "I''m not scared, I''m particrly satisfied with the eight hundred million alimony
I''ll receive from divorcing you. I just want to be quiet tonight. Don''t worry, I won''t back out, I will get
Kaley back for you tomorrow." Thest sentence was particrly emphasized by her.
Izabe''s eyes were as cold as ever, but he could clearly feel something had disappeared from
them.
Brett could distinctly feel that he had lost something very important, and by the time he wanted to
desperately salvage it, he was powerless.Belongs to N?velDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
Brett left the bedroom, leaving the space to Izabe.
After he left, Izabe pulled the covers over her head and curled up quietly inside.
Brett turned on hisputer to watch the surveince video, he was just too worried about Izabe.
He thought Izabe would go straight to sleep after he left, but instead she pulled up the covers, her
body trembling.
Was she crying?
Watching the surveince video, Brett felt his heart ache more and more.
He shifted his gaze, took a few deep breaths to suppress the strange pain. Why would Izabe cry
after hearing about his near-drowning incident six years ago? It wasn''t fear, could it be because she
still cared about him?
The rain outside kept pouring down, and with this weather, it probably wouldn''t stop by tomorrow.
He called the kidnappers, but they didn''t answer. After a while, a call from an unknown number
came in.
"President Windham, you are calling sote, have you made up your mind?"
"Send the time and address over." Brett didn''t want to waste words.
"So, you''ve decided to trade your wife for your lover." The voice taunted, "The time is 6pm, as for
the address, someone will bring it over then. Remember to bring the money."
"Okay, I''ll have Izabe bring the money. But tell Heckter if he dares to harm Izabe, I''ll kill all of
you!" Brett''s tone was grim.
"President Windham, since you''ve decided to save your lover, your wife is ours. Since you''re giving
up on Izabe, seeing what Kaley''s been through in the video, you should know what''s waiting for
her. Telling me not to harm anyone now, isn''t that funny?"
Everyone knew this, and Izabe understood too.
There was no saving Kaley, it was clearly sacrificing another woman.
"Lastly, let me remind you not to try and investigate our background. Kaley is still in our hands, you
should have already found out that Heckter isn''t the only one above us."
"Our boss said he won''t take Izabe''s life, he just wants to borrow her for a couple of days, we''ll
return her to you alive."
Brett felt the man''s way of talking was familiar, but unfortunately he used a voice changer, so he
couldn''t figure out who it was.
Seeing Brett didn''t respond, the other party directly hung up the call.
A wave of indescribable fatigue washed over him, and Brett stood by the window, gripping his
phone tightly.
Brett didn''t sleep all night, and neither did Izabe. As soon as the sky lightened, the two of them
ate breakfast and went to apply for a divorce.
Nowadays, there were more people getting divorced than getting married, and they had to wait in
line for a while before it was their turn.
Both of their faces were unusually calm, neither quarreling nor causing a scene.
Divorce procedures weren''t simpler than marriage ones, but both of them had already signed the
paperworkst night, and after they signed again this morning, it marked the end of their
rtionship as husband and wife.
Their wedding had been simple, and their divorce was the same. Apart from the process being
troublesome, the beginning and the end were both quite in.
When they got married, Izabe didn''t feel like it, and now that she was divorced from Brett, it still
felt like a dream. She stood in a daze for a good twenty seconds before she came back to her
senses.
She said lightly, "Brett, I am finally free."
As Izabe finished speaking, Brett felt as if a part of his heart was missing, a pain so intense that
he couldn''t breathe.
