Chapter 189
One night six years ago, Brett had an ident and fell into the water. He had a fatal weakness - he
was born with a fear of water and couldn''t swim.
That night, he thought he would die in the water until a blurry figure jumped into the water, pulling
him up and saved him.
It was winter, and there was a thinyer of ice on theke. His felt his body had been scraped by a
knife, and it seemed like there were ice chips in his blood.
Thinking of what happened six years ago, Brett''s expression was incrediblyplex. Inside the
room, only a tablemp was shining a soft orange light, illuminating every corner.
Tears streamed down Izabe''s face unnoticed as she stiffly turned her back to Brett, not wanting
him to see her face.
"When exactly six years ago?"
"Around midnight on December 25th, in N City," Brett replied, and her once blurry memories
suddenly became clear.
Izabe''s voice was hoarse, "Brett, why would you think it was Kaley who saved you back then?"
It was the first time that Izabe asked so many questions about an event. Brett answered, "I saw
her when I woke up in the hospital, and Kaley said it was her who saved me."
"She said she saved you?" Izabe scoffed.
"Her words are one thing, but also her pearl earrings." That night in the water, he saw a pair of pearl
earrings. He remembered reaching out and touching them. When he woke up from the hospital,
Kaley''s earrings were the same pearl earrings he saw in the water.
"Brett, have you ever thought that many people have pearl earrings like that? Have you ever
thought that Kaley lied to you?" The tears in Izabe''s eyes disappeared, leaving only mockery.

Brett''s face changed. After hearing what Izabe said, his felt his heart had been grasped by
something. He fiercely propped himself up and looked down at her side profile, "What do you
mean?"
Izabe turned her head to meet his gaze, her eyes sending chills down his spine.
"It doesn''t mean anything, just saying." Izabe finished speaking and couldn''t help butugh softly,
curling up into the nkets with her frail shoulders trembling slightly.
"So that''s how it is..." It turned out that the person she saved six years ago was Brett. So, it seemed
she didn''t owe Brett anything anymore.
Brett had a natural fear of water, while she was born to be afraid of the cold. After saving someone
ashore, she passed out. She was taken to the hospital andy there for a whole week with a fever.
Izabe lifted her head slightly, staring at Brett. Finally, she asked faintly, "Brett, what if I said the
person who saved you was me?"
Brett frowned and said impatiently, "Izabe, don''t lie. I believe my own judgment. You''re saying this
now just to make me not use you to save Kaley."
"Your judgment? Hahaha..." Izabe couldn''t help but burst intoughter.
Watching her fall into a fit ofughter, Brett suddenly felt a chill in his heart. "Izabe, what are you
laughing at?"
Reaching out to wipe the tears from the corner of her eye, Izabe pped his hand away.
"Nothing, I just didn''t expect you to be so deeply in love. You and Kaley are such a perfect match.
Now I realize how foolish my mistake was."
Brett heard her sarcasm, but he might never have mentioned what happened six years ago if
Izabe hadn''t brought it up suddenly. Changing the subject, Brett asked, "Are you thirsty? I''ll get
you some water."
There was a water dispenser in the living room outside the bedroom. As Izabe watched Brett''s
retreating figure, she sat back on the bed and pinched her earring, feeling the faint scar there.
At the time in the water, Brett had desperately reached out and grabbed her earring. Her ear had
been stitched up, and now the wound was healed, and the scar had faded. It was hard to notice
unless you looked closely.
By the time Brett returned with water, Izabe was stillughing, tears streaming down her face.
The most abominable feeling in the world is when someone who has been bad to you is suddenly
gentle to you for a moment. Brett, I gave you a chance, but you didn''t believe me. So, I guess you''ll
live in a lie forever.
