Chapter 126

    Chapter 126

Brett didn''t ask any more questions, as he''d already heard about her past memory from the

    psychologist.

It was a good thing that Izabe didn''t want to bring it up. He was worried that if she kept talking

about it, she might remember something.

"Izabe, my memory isn''t the best, so I''ve forgotten a lot of things from the past. But from now on, I

will treat you right. You should stop dwelling on the past too. Let the past be the past..."

"What right do you have to talk about the future with me, Brett? There are many things that can''t be

left behind just by simply saying ''let it go!''"

If one apology could solve everything, then what was the point of havingws? Brett was the least

    qualified to say such things.

She was grateful for their encounter sixteen years ago, but now she regretted it deeply. She

regretted ever meeting him and couldn''t understand why loving someone could be that dreadful, or

why she even had to experience this.

At most, she was stubborn, and she forced Brett to marry her. She didn''t control his freedom, nor

did she force him to break up with Kaley.

Their agreement was supposedly equal, and she had given blood to Kaley several times without

    even being thanked.

She was fine with that. Since there was no love, they should just divorce, but somehow, he didn''t

want to let her go, and he even slowly destroyed her life in the process.

What did she ever do wrong to him? Why did he keep pushing her?

"How can you say things can be left behind? Dead people can''te back to life!"

Brett suddenly fell silent and opened the car window, letting the cold wind pour in as if that could

    help him catch his breath.

He drove to a pedestrian street, parked the car, and then took Izabe in.

The pedestrian street was famous in R City, it has lots of stores and street food stands, it also has

great scenery. Many tourists came here every day.

Brett let go of Izabe''s hand and instead crossed their fingers.

Feeling lost, Izabe wondered what Brett was up to.

The two walked close together like an ordinary couple. The sun at noon was at its highest, and the

dappled sunlight filtered down through the leaves, casting a motley of light and shadow on the

    ground.

The pedestrian street was located in an old town, with stone walls and arches, and willows nted

by the side of the road. They held hands and walked in peace.

Whenever they saw something delicious, they joined the queue. In a short time, Izabe had

    collected various snacks.

Garlic butter baguette, grilled squid, fried potato wedges, and even a ss of juice.

Brett, too, had his hands full of snacks. Watching Izabe drinking juice was just too cute.

They passed by a restaurant, and Brett thought it looked decent so he led Izabe in. There were

no private rooms, but each table had a wooden board dividers. They choose a table by the window.

Izabe ced everything she was holding on the table, her eyes calm as she looked at the man

    sitting opposite her.

Perhaps because of the sun, Brett seemed warmer and gentler than ever, especially his eyes, his

tender gaze was something she never dared to imagine in the past.

After looking around, Brett asked, "What would you like?"

Izabe shook her head. "I''m not hungry."

Brett frowned, "You have a stomach problem, you can''t just skip meals."

The waiter brought the menu, and Brett ordered two specialty dishes and a pot of soup ording to

    his taste, not hers.

The food came quickly, and as usual, Brett served Izabe half a bowl of soup first.

Finally, Izabe found the courage to ask what she''d been wanting to ask all along, "What are you

    doing?"

Brett was caught off guard and answered without thinking, "We''re having a date. Can''t you tell?"

Izabe shook her head, "Brett, you don''t have to pretend to be nice to me." It only disgusted her

    more.

"Don''t act like I never treated you well before."

The sarcasm in Izabe''s eyes couldn''t be more obvious. As horrible as Brett was, he still thought

of himself as some romantic husband.

Brett felt uneasy under her gaze, realizing his mistake and losing even more confidence. "I said I''d

    make it up to you."Content (C) N?v/elDra/ma.Org.

It seemed like he hadn''t been paying attention to what she said in the car earlier, she didn''t even

    bother to make eye contact.

"Why don''t we watch a movie after we eat, okay?"

Izabe raised her eyes and said, "No." She, too, had once longed to go on dates and watch

movies with Brett like an ordinary couple, but how had he responded? He said she was naive.

She didn''t care for those things anymore. Yet here he was, dragging her into it. How ridiculous.

Surprisingly, Brett kept his cool, continuing, "We have a long day ahead. I''ll go wherever you want to

go, but let''s eat first. I don''t have any stomach medication in the car."

"I don''t have an appetite. I can''t eat." Izabe stared out the window, chin resting on her hand.

Brett followed her gaze and saw someone buying a donut.

"Wait here, I''ll be right back." He ran out of the restaurant to buy her donuts.

He returned and handed her the donuts. "Here, try it."

It was a sweet-smelling, golden donut covered in chocte icing. She took it coldly, asking, "Why

did you suddenly want to buy this?"

"Don''t you like it?" His asked.

Six years ago, at a party, Izabe had been holding a donut in her hand. If she didn''t like them, he

assumed that she wouldn''t have had it.

"I''ve never said I liked donuts." She threw the donut in the trash and her once calm face suddenly

    turned annoyed.

Brett, too, was not happy. It was rare for him to please a woman like this, and yet she didn''t even

give him a chance. What more was he supposed to do?

He didn''t understand why Izabe would throw a tantrum. She didn''t even take a bite before

throwing the donut away. Wasn''t she just staring at the donuts outside earlier?

Not wanting the date to end on a bad note, Brett swallowed his pride. "Izabe, good girl, please

    stop making a fuss."
