C28 – Bamboo


    The moment Jiaang Lin spoke, Qiu Xiya took the opportunity to unt her figure right in front of him.


    By the end of it, Jiaang Lin couldn’t even recall hisst words; his mind was overrun with visions of plump rabbits frolicking across the meadows of his heart.


    “You really are a libertine!”


    Qiu Xiya looked at Jiaang Lin with an amused expression. Snapping back to reality, Jiaang Lin retorted, “My deardy, tempting a gentleman in such a manner is quite improper. I am a man of pure intentions. My noble character is pristine, like jade—I am utterly immune to temptations from the likes of you!”


    “You call yourself pure and noble, you libertine? That’s revolting!”


    Stunned, Jiaang Lin watched as Qiu Xiya spat at him with disdain, then red and snapped, “Narcissist!”


    After her remark, Qiu Xiya sent a flirtatious wink his way, leaving Jiaang Lin feeling utterly ted and his spirits swaying.


    “By the way, today is the day the young men from our vige go hunting in the mountains. Would you like to join them, Immortal Master?”


    Jiaang Lin had been living quite the leisurely life these past few days, his routine filled with nothing but eating and sleeping. Qiu Xiya had been diligently bringing him meals thrice a day. Though the fare was simple, Jiaang Lin was anything but fussy.


    He felt indebted to Qiu Xiya for saving him and caring for him daily. He couldn’t justify indulging in the vige’s hospitality without contributing. So, Jiaang Lin nodded and said, “Then I shall apany them into the mountains. Should theye across any formidable beasts, or even demonic beasts, my presence will offer them some measure of safety. At the very least, I can ensure their safe return!”


    “Great, I’ll walk you to the vige entrance!” Qiu Xiya replied, her enchanting smile captivating and irresistible.


    ?As they strolled along the vige’s narrow path, Jiaang Lin inquired, “Does your vige only hunt once a month?”


    “How could that be?” Qiu Xiya replied, her face tinged with sorrow. “On the tenth, twentieth, and thirtieth of each month, the young adults gather to hunt in the mountains. But we usually only manage to catch a few small creatures; it’s quite a challenge. No one dares to venture too deep into the mountains, for a powerful demonic beast is said to dwell there, reigning supreme over its domain.”


    “Oh? Does that mean there’s a Beast King lurking deep within the mountains?”


    Jiaang Lin hadn’t anticipated that, beyond the me Beast in, there would actually be demonic beasts dwelling in themon mountains of the secr world!


    But then he thought, maybe the demonic beasts from the outskirts of the me Beast in had ventured out into the mortal world’s mountain ranges. And perhaps, with no natural predators around, one of these beasts had imed the mountain as its own, ruling over all the wild animals!


    “Indeed, it’s an old tale passed down from the previous generation. Whether it’s true or not is uncertain, but sometimes at night, the ferocious roars of wild beasts can be heard echoing through the forest, which is quite frightening!”


    “Alright, in that case, when I join them on their venture into the mountains, we’ll see if we can encounter this legendary demonic beast and perhaps capture somerger wild animals for the vigers to feast on!”


    As Jiaang Lin was saying this, they reached the entrance of the vige.


    At that moment, the vige chief was advising ten sturdy young men to be careful. Spotting Jiaang Lin, the chief’s eyes immediately brightened with recognition.
