Chapter 1; Field of Stars

    ‘Where is this?’ The soul wondered to itself, floating alone in what seems like a field of stars.


    ‘Ah!’ a thought came into the soul and it cried in realization ‘I died!’


    He can’t remember his name, but he knew his gender and that he was an office worker. He died


    peacefully in old age, surrounded by love ones.


    But since he died already, he shouldn’t be aware of things anymore. After thinking about it for a bit, he


    concluded ‘I’m soul right now, about to pass to the afterlife’ Since it was not yet his turn, or so he


    thought, he decided to explore around. He then discovered that he was not restricted in the constraint


    of space. He could travel wherever he want in a thought. ‘Cool’


    He spent an unknown amount of time wandering around the field of stars. Sometimes he would


    encounter a strange phenomenon and he would stop to watch. One time, he saw a golden lightning


    flash forth from a golden star. It arced around the cosmos before exploding into a cloud of shiny dust


    and he watched the beautiful scene dumbfounded. He would also occasionally encounter other souls


    like him, but they seem to be in trance as they wander around cluelessly. At first he was lively and tried


    to wake them up, but he realized his attempts were futile so he gave up.


    One day, he met another soul. But it was not like him or the others who were formless. The soul has a


    humanoid glowing form. It looked at him in wonder.


    ‘Another one!’ a voice exclaimed in his mind.This novel''s true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.


    ‘Huh!?’ shocked by the voice he couldn’t help but release his thoughts outward.


    ‘As I thought, you really are conscious!’ The same voice spoke.


    ‘Err… can you please explain?’ Confused by the sudden turn of events, he couldn’t help but ask.


    The humanoid soul seems to have regained its composure and begun explaining things to him.


    ‘In other words, only people who died without regret could be conscious within this place.’ He


    Concluded


    ‘Exactly!’ said the humanoid soul ‘Because of this, we could enjoy the benefits of this place!’


    ‘Benefits?’ He asked ‘What benefits?’


    ‘You don’t know? Don’t tell me you did not get to watch those awesome things?’


    ‘Ah!’ He suddenly realized what it meant ‘Those exploding stars and black hole things?’


    ‘Yup, this place is unpredictable. A galaxy could collide with another one in an instant, for no reason at


    all’


    ‘You’re right’ The soul nodded, recalling a galaxy that suddenly spun to fast, causing nearby things to be


    absorbed into it as it turns into a black star with a powerful gravitational pull. Fortunately he had no


    weight, since he’s a soul.


    The two of them travelled together since then. After a long journey, a huge crystal gate suddenly


    emerged from a colorful cloud. Seeing this, the humanoid soul spoke ‘I guess it’s time.’


    ‘Time for what?’ He asked


    ‘Why? Rebirth, of course!’ The humanoid soul replied.


    ‘Oh, there’s that.’ He looked at the majestic gate and wondered what’s beyond. ‘I guess you’ll be leaving


    then’ He said feeling lonely.


    ‘Yup, But well meet again if destiny wills it. Now then, I’ll be going first!’ Suddenly, a strong pull came


    from the gate, sucking the humanoid soul inside. Then the gate disappeared as if it were never there.


    He remained in the field of stars for a long time, waiting for the moment of rebirth. At this time, His


    form already resembled that of a human.


    He continued searching for other conscious souls ever since the humanoid soul left him, but he found no


    one no matter how much he tried. Apparently, conscious souls were extremely rare.


    During one of his travel, he saw a lonely star sitting in the space. There were no other celestial bodies


    visible in Its perimeter, meaning it was too far and isolated. It shone with violet light and everything


    seem to be moving away from it and yet at the same time, he gets the feeling that it will draw all


    creation to itself one day. When he gazed at it too long, he got dizzy because of the illusion that he was


    revolving around it like a planet, helpless and unable to resist.


    He left after watching it for a while to continue his journey. After that encounter, the surface of his soul


    transformed, reflecting the entire field of stars.


    One day, He looked ahead and found a gigantic mass of cloud approaching from a distant. From within,


    a majestic gate emerged. Its surface was suspiciously similar to that of his soul, reflecting the cosmos.


    He was not surprised since he knew that the attribute of soul gained in the field of stars would reflect in


    his rebirth gate. In addition, his nameless friend also told him that only conscious soul would have this


    kind of grand rebirth. The other souls would be all drawn towards the River of Purity and would then be


    lead into a large Rebirth Gate.


    ‘My time has come huh’ He muttered then the massive gate begun to rumble and a strong suction force


    pulled his soul without chance of resistance. The moment he entered the gate, he travelled forward in


    the speed of light. The whole world was spinning in his sight, and then only darkness remained and his


    consciousness left him.
