Chapter 2076 A Person Sheryl Didn''t Want To See

Sheryl hadn''t been able to contact him since the incident, not really knowing if he had wanted her to

call him or if he didn''t.

Charles was at the hospital now. He looked at the darkening sky before asking David to drive him

    home.

When Charles had finally arrived at Dream Garden, he saw that Melissa was standing in the yard. His

mother had her arms crossed, waiting for him to get out of the car.

"Mom, what are you doing here?" Charles asked. The worry in his voice was concealed as he tried to

ster a small smile on his face. If his mother knew what had happened during the day...He silenced

his thoughts. It would just worry her.

"I was waiting for you. Did you go to the hospital? How''s Sher doing?" Melissa hadn''t seen Sheryl since

she''d been chased away by I. And she could tell from the news headlines that Sheryl''s past few

days had been very hectic. She couldn''t help but fret over her daughter-inw.

"Didn''t you and Nancy go to the hospital? You didn''t see her?" Charles furrowed his eyebrows,

remembering how his mother had updated him of where she would be going.

"I didn''t let us in, so I didn''t get to. You''ve seen her, haven''t you?" Melissa asked, rubbing her

    manicured hands together anxiously.

Charles hadn''t seen Sheryl either. All he did was check the surroundings and check in with the guards

to make sure the incident wouldn''t happen again. However, his mother didn''t need to know that. He

gave a reassuring smile, assisting his mother back to the house. "Don''t worry. Sher is fine."

"Are you sure? I''ve seen the news. They were saying horrible things."

Melissa cringed as she remembered them. If she had reacted like this, then how would Sheryl have

reacted if she''d seen them herself?

"I have everything under control. Sher will have no knowledge of the news; she''ll leave the hospital as if

nothing had happened." Charlesforted Melissa. He had already arranged things with David and his

men. The news would be gone in a few hours.

Seeing the confident look on his face, Melissa quieted down.

"Okay, then. I''ll go upstairs to rest, and you should too! You''ve been getting thinner these days. Have

you gotten enough sleep?" Though she knew Charles could take care of himself, Melissa couldn''t help

but worry about him. Work had been exhausting enough, and with everything happening with Sheryl,

she thought her son might not be able to pay attention to his own well-being.

"I''m fine, Mom, really," Charles emphasized.

"Okay, okay." Melissa smiled before going up the steps, leaving Charles alone in the living room.

He decided to stay back a bit, nning to do a bit of digging on who was behind the whole scheme.

He had already asked David to investigate what had happened, knowing fully well that if David had set

his mind on something, that person would be discovered.

    At the prison

Ferry had one visitor today. Ferry had been behaving well recently, receiving high praise from the

guards. So the prison allowed him to see the visitor.

    Ferry stared at Rob.

Rob was the only man that Ferry could trust to get things done. Before he was sentenced to prison,

Rob was his go-to guy, and, till now, he still was.

"How''s it going?" Ferry''s eyes shed, revealing cruelty that contrasted with how well he had behaved

    in front of the guards.

"Boss, I got the message that Sheryl had already divorced Charles, but the public still doesn''t know

about it yet." Rob lowered his voice to a whisper, ncing around to make sure no one was

    eavesdropping on their conversation.

Ferry smirked, leaning back. It seemed that all the cards were in his favor now.

"What else happened?" Since Ferry was in prison, the only one who could update him on the outside

world was Rob. Technically, Rob was like his newspaper.

Rob was still being very cautious. He pressed his face up against the ss and said in a low tone,

"There''s a recent scandal about Sheryl being with another man circting. The guy''s name is Damian."

Rob continued, telling him in full detail about the events that had transpired recently.

Ferry tilted his head. "Damian, huh?"

"He''s a returned overseas Chinese. He''s from a powerful family, but his family business is based

overseas." That was all Rob had found about him. The rest was kept in a tight lock.

Ferry gazed at him thoughtfully, processing the information. A secondter, he smiled viciously as a

thought crossed his mind. He tapped the table incessantly.

"Seems like this is going be fun." His smile widened.

Rob smiled back too at seeing his boss happy.

However, he had no idea what ''fun'' his boss was talking about. After all, the only job he had was

collecting and rying the information back to him.

Ferry chatted with Rob for a while about different things. When his time was almost up, he gave him

the next set of instructions as a farewell.

"Okay. Boss, take care of yourself." Rob nodded in confirmation before leaving to deal with the new set

of tasks he had been assigned with.

Ferry returned back to his cell. Soon, the vicious man that snarled at the slightest jeer became nothing

more than a meek bystander in the prison cell. He found that staying silent no matter what could get

    the job done.

"You''ve changed, man. When''d you be a coward?"

    "Yeah, a coward!" another echoed.

"See what I mean, Boys? He pretends that he''s so high up there, but in the end, he''s rotting here like

    the rest of us."

Ferry ignored all the jeers, letting them be as he immersed himself in his thoughts.

No matter how much they talked, they never did try toy a finger on him, aware of his background and

what he could do against them.

    Next day

I came to the hospital early when Sheryl was still asleep.

"I, I''m sick," she groaned out. "Can''t you at least give me a bit of peace here?" Sheryl red at I.

"Don''t y that card with me!" I scoffed. "We both know you don''t need that much sleep. Get up.

These contracts need your signatures, and I don''t understand a single one of these documents." Unlike

Sheryl, I had woken up much earlier in the morning as she was contacted by Phoebe to handle

    these documents.

Given that Sheryl was in the hospital, Phoebe had thought that the next best person to contact would

    be I.

However, Phoebe might have forgotten the fact that Sheryl was the one in charge of these contracts,

so I couldn''t understand what was happening with them.

"Miss Zhao, please. I can''t do everything on my own," Phoebe pleaded.

And that was the reason I had to stalk her way back to the hospital to get some signatures straight,

knowing well that Phoebe''s signature wouldn''t render them valid.

Seeing that I was in a hurry, Sheryl grabbed the papers that were ced at the edge of her bed. She

started to look at them, spending the whole morning reading and analyzing every paragraph before

    signing the contracts.

After Sheryl had finished, I sighed in relief. "What would I do without you?"

I snorted. "Cut it out. As director of thispany, shouldn''t you at least be aware of what''s

happening around here?" Sheryl rolled her eyes.

"You know I can''t do all of this by myself, Sher," I said, shaking her arm.

Sheryl rolled her eyes, surrendering in the end.

"Fine, fine. I''ll stop. Now, can you buy me some breakfast, Miss Zhao? I haven''t eaten anything since I

woke up in the morning." Sheryl nudged her friend, pouting.

"Oh, crap, my fault!" I realized, pping a hand on her forehead. "Give me a second. I''ll be back

    soon."

I ran out of the ward.

Seeing that, Sheryl shook her head with a resigned smile.

Feeling a bit bored, she got off the bed, heading outside of the ward. ''Maybe some fresh air can do me

good, '' she thought. However, as she was on her way out of her room, she bumped into someone she

    didn''t want to see.
