    Chapter 1796 Not Bad.

"Le, hurry up. Pick one of them quickly, and let''s go. It''s gettingte," Charles told Le, his

expressions nonchnt, and his face dreary. Then he headed to the counter, not caring whether Le

    was following him or not.

Le was just too happy to have Charles apany her to be bothered by his attitude. As long as she

could be with him, she had nothing more to ask for.

"Charles, which one do you think is better? I like all of them. I can''t really make up my mind," Le

asked Charles indulgently. Her eyes were sparkling with love and joy, and her hands lingered on a few

cocktail dresses hanging on the clothing stands.

Charles lifted his head and shot a cold nce at Le. He then looked at the salesgirl and gestured for

    her to leave.

The salesgirl stared back at him with a bewildered look on her face. Her expression reminded Charles

that he was not at hispany. And unlike David, the salesgirl was not able to get his hint.

Realizing his fault, Charles said to the salesgirl politely, "Can you give us a moment, please? We will

call you when we are done."

"Sure, Sir." The salesgirl gave Charles a cordial smile and walked away.

After she left, Charles looked at Le from head to toe.

Le could feel butterflies in her stomach. This was the first time Charles wanted to have a private

moment with her! He had asked thedy to leave them alone. Also, it was the first time that he had

stared at Le like that. Her face turned crimson. She lowered her head and said in a soft voice,

"Charles, don''t look at me like that. You''re making me embarrassed."

Charles heaved a sigh. "Le, I know that you are taking really good care of my mother, and that''s why

I havee shopping with you and agreed to spend some time with you. I really want you to

understand that I am doing all this because of my mom. I hope you don''t misunderstand me." Charles

felt it proper to exin his intentions clearly to Le, as he didn''t want Le to think that he had fallen in

love with her. It was better toe clean than being ambiguous regarding rtionships.

"Charles, what do you mean that you don''t want me to misunderstand you? We''ve been through a

lot…" Le''s face became grim at hearing Charles. The excitement vanished from her voice, as well.

She looked at Charles sadly. Her eyes welled up immediately, and she tried her best to hold back her

    tears.

Charles was taken aback by Le''s reaction. He didn''t expect Le would cry. He stopped talking

    immediately.

"Charles, I know you don''t love me, but I love you. Don''t worry. I won''t make things hard for you. I can

leave right now if you want me to," Tears streamed down Le''s face after she finished speaking. She

took a few steps ahead, and it seemed like she was ready to rush out of the shopping mall the very

    next moment.

    "Come back."

There was no way that Charles could let Le leave like this. It wasn''t the time yet. What should he say

to Melissa if Le left right now?

Le stopped immediately after she heard Charles. She lowered her head and kept sobbing.

"Don''t get me wrong. I am not asking you to leave. Just pick your clothes." Charles was rendered

speechless. Le was such a burden to him.

"So, you don''t want me to leave?" Le asked Charles carefully, looking at him from the corner of her

eyes, which were still filled with tears.

"We can leave if you don''t want to buy any dresses," Charles said in a t voice with a stiff frown set on

his face. He didn''t really care whether Le bought a new dress. He was, however, trying to suppress

his anger. If Le continued to bug him, he wouldn''t even mind leaving. Even if it meant that it would

upset Melissa, Charles didn''t care. He could not take it anymore.

"Fine, I will pick one quickly. Why are you so mad?" Le smiled at Charles in an attempt to calm him

    down.

Charles didn''t utter another word. He beckoned for the salesgirl toe to them.

The salesgirl had been watching the two of them from afar. Although she waspletely oblivious to

the words they had exchanged with each other, she could tell they weren''t having a good time. So

when she returned to them, she became very careful.

"Ma''am, do you want any dresses? These are some of ourtest arrivals." Then she showed and

rmended two dresses to Le that she thought would bestpliment her figure.

Le looked at the dresses and then at Charles. But Charles was looking in the opposite direction. Le

felt a little embarrassed to be ignored like that in front of the salesgirl. "Thank you. I will try both of

    them," she said.

"Sure, the fitting room is this way. Let me help you get the dresses first," the salesgirl said as she

helped Le take the dresses from the rack. She then apanied Le to the fitting room.

In the fitting room, as Le looked at herself in the mirror, her smile disappeared. Charles'' attitude

towards her, particrly, in the presence of the salesgirl had wrenched her heart. She was very upset

to see Charles acting like he was forced toe here. ''Is it so difficult to spend time with me, Charles?''

    Le thought, feeling utterly bitter.

Human beings were greedy by nature. The more they got, the more they yearned for. Earlier, Le just

hoped that Charles could pay attention to her. Now that Charles did that, she wished Charles could fall

    in love with her.

But Le had forgotten one thing. Charles had taken her out, not because of her. Rather, the actual

reason behind his changed attitude was Melissa.

"Ma''am? Everything okay?" The salesgirl knocked on the door of the fitting room as Le had spent

    quite a long time inside.

"Just one sec," Le answered, trying to swallow the lump in her throat. She quickly dressed and

walked out of the fitting room.

"Charles, what do you think?" Le turned around in front of Charles, and asked him in an indulging

    manner, hoping to get hispliment.

Charles was sitting on the sofa. He lifted his head to look at Le as he heard her. Honestly, he really

didn''t care what dress Le was wearing. But still, he nodded at Le and said indifferently, "Well, not

    bad."

"Really? Let me try another one on, before we decide which one to buy," Le said to Charles, grinning

from ear to ear. She rushed back to the fitting room, afraid that Charles would stop her from trying on

    another one.

Charles'' patience had reached its zenith by now. He just wanted to get it over with as soon as possible.

He had thought that if he gave hispliment for the dress, Le would buy it, and they could leave

right away. He didn''t expect Le would try another one.

Staring at Le as she walked back to the changing room, Charles could not help remembering Sheryl.

Sheryl was a confident woman. When she went shopping, she was always so prompt in picking out her

favorite clothes. She was not at all fussy and never even needed to try them out. It was so easy to go

shopping with her. Charles could not remember a single incident when he had gotten impatient or felt

    hassled while shopping with Sheryl.

Thinking about Sheryl, Charles felt light for a moment, and then a shadow of gloom settled upon his

heart. However, Charles didn''t get time to drown himself in sorrow, as Le came out in her second

    outfit.

The first outfit Le had worn was grey, while the one she was wearing now was ck. It was more

    dignified than the first one.

Before Le could open her mouth and ask Charles, he nodded at her, "Well, not bad."

Le understood that she was wearing out Charles'' patient since she got the same answer. So she

turned her head and asked the salesgirl, "What do you think?"

The salesgirl looked at Le in surprise and smiled sincerely at her, saying, "Ma''am, both of them look

perfect on you. And all these designs are unique. Therefore, no one would wear the same dress as

you. What kind of banquet are you going to?"Còntens bel0ngs to N?(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
