Chapter 1680 Who Did This
"Is it because of Josef?" I suddenly became very anxious, worrying that Josef, Aron''s cousin, was
mistreating Phoebe. If that was the case, Sheryl wouldn''t forgive I for introducing Josef to Phoebe.
Of course, I wouldn''t let Josef off the hook that easily.
"President Zhao, I''m fine. It''s because of President Xia…" Phoebe answered as she pointed her finger
towards Sheryl''s office.
"What''s wrong with Sher?" I narrowed her eyes and asked, her face had be concerned.
Phoebe bit her lips, hesitating. After a long moment of silence, Phoebe still hadn''t spoken, only
increasing I''s anxiety.
"I''m going to ask her myself!" I pushed the door open and walked into Sheryl''s office.
The moment I opened the door, she saw what Phoebe was referring to.
Sheryl had thought it was Phoebe, so she was surprised when she lifted her head and saw I.
I red at Sheryl, making Sheryl a little bit ufortable. Suddenly, something urred to Sheryl.
She raised her hand in an attempt to cover the bruise on her face.
"Put your hand down. I''ve already seen it. I''m not blind." I rolled her eyes at Sheryl.
Sheryl was embarrassed. She held her hand in the air, not knowing what to do. I stared at her red
and swollen face, and asked nervously, "Can you tell me what happened?" I looked into Sheryl''s
eyes. Sheryl knew that look, I was being very serious, and Sheryl couldn''t lie to her.
With her mind being muddled, I was furious. All she wanted to know was who did this to Sheryl.
Sheryl put down her hand and walked towards I. She smiled, trying to lighten the mood. "It''s nothing.
It was an ident..."
"An ident? Someone pped you by ident?" I knew that Sheryl was lying to her. She was
angry and sad at the same time. On the one hand, she was pissed that Sheryl was hurt. On the other,
she treated Sheryl as her best friend, and friends were supposed to support and help each other when
they were in trouble. Sheryl lying to her, in I''s eyes, meant that Sheryl didn''t see I as her friend, so
I snapped at Sheryl.
Sheryl could tell I was angry. Biting her lips, Sheryl remained silent and just looked at I.
When Sheryl didn''t say anything, I pushed her and pointed her finger at her. She said in frustration,
"Sheryl, are we friends? Tell me what happened. I''m here to support you. Isn''t that what friends are
for?"
"No, I. I…" Sheryl opened her mouth, but nothing came out. She didn''t know where to start or how to
tell I. Should she tell I that Charles had pped her?
Sheryl didn''t want to say that.
Instead, she lowered her head. I asked carefully, "Was it Charles?"
Sheryl was startled when she heard I. She lifted her head immediately and looked at I sadly.
Their eyes met, and everything fell into a thick silence.
"I knew it!" I knew that Sheryl was a terrible liar. Based on the look on Sheryl''s face, I figured that
she was right.
Sheryl freaked out. She looked around, trying to avoid I''s gaze. She felt self-conscious, and she felt
like I could see right through her.
"I''m going to find Charles now. What kind of man would hit his wife? He''s such an asshole!"
I said furiously as she rolled her sleeves up as if she was going to kill Charles, which scared Sheryl.
Sheryl needed to stop I because she didn''t know what I was going to do. She quickened her pace
and stopped I at the office door.
"What''s the point of confronting him? To ask him why he pped me?" Sheryl''s eyes welled up, and
tears suddenly started falling down her face.
I could feel Sheryl''s pain and sorrow. It made her realized that the most important thing right now
was to stay and support Sheryl. Shaking her head, I sighed. She changed her mind and decided to
stay andfort Sheryl.
Eventually, Sheryl stopped crying.
After Sheryl calmed herself down, I gently asked, "So, can you now tell me what happened? Why
did Charles p you?"
I didn''t say anything more because she didn''t want to trigger Sheryl or identally hurt her.
Sheryl took a deep breath and nodded at I. She told I in detail what had happened at the hospital.
I tried her best to suppress her anger. But the more she heard of the story, the angrier she became.
Finally, she stood up and raised her voice, "Don''t you dare try to stop me, Sheryl. I''m going to Charles
right now!"
She was out the door before Sheryl could even respond. By the time Sheryl got to the parking lot, I
had already driven away.
Sheryl furrowed her brows as she watched I''s car speed off. She immediately got into her car,
hoping that she could catch up with I and stop her before she did anything crazy.
They sped to the hospital.
This was the fastest Sheryl had ever driven. Still, she wasn''t able to catch up with I. When she
arrived at the hospital, I had already gotten into the elevator. Sheryl knew that she couldn''t stop I.
It was toote!
By the time Sheryl got to Charles'' ward, I was already there.
As Sheryl was about to open the door to drag I out of the room, she hesitated with her hand on the
doorknob. She thought, ''What am I going to do when I get there? What do I say to Charles? How am I
supposed to face Le and Melissa?''
As she thought this over, she turned and left in frustration.
Meanwhile in the room, I was ring at Charles. Her eyes were sharp and burning.
No one had expected that they would see I, so they were surprised when she suddenly barged into
the room.
I, meanwhile, couldn''t care less. As her eyes shot daggers at Charles, she said, "Just because
you''re the president of the Shining Company, doesn''t mean you can do whatever you want. You can''t
treat Sheryl like that."
"That''s between my son and my daughter-inw. It''s none of your business."
Melissa had been holding a grudge against I since I had scolded her at the hospitalst time. She
was annoyed to see I suddenly show up here and shout at her son. She couldn''t help herself. She
had to defend Charles.
I turned at the sound of Melissa''s voice. She looked Melissa over from head to toe. She smiled
coldly and sneered, "Your son and your daughter-inw are fighting. What are you doing? You''re not
even helping them; instead, you''re just making it worse for them. What kind of mom are you?"
"You can''t talk to her like that! This is about the Lu family. It''s none of your business!" Le chimed in.
"None of your business?!"
I was already very furious. Thest thing she needed was to deal with Le, who was getting on her
nerves, and Le''s high pitched voice just made it worse. I didn''t hesitate to fight back.

"Le, I can''t believe how much you know about this family. What exactly are you doing here? How are
you rted to this family again? You''re not even a mistress. Is this even any of your business?" I
sneered at Le.
Le was at a loss for words. She couldn''t defend herself because what I said was true and it hurt.
She covered her mouth with her hand and ran out of the ward in tears.
This angered Melissa.
"And you? Who the hell are you? My son is leaving Sheryl, and no one can do anything about it. You''d
better ask that friend of yours to give up custody of the children, or we''ll crush her in court." As Melissa
spoke, she angrily pointed her finger at I.
