Chapter 1652 Cassie Remembered Everything

    Chapter 1652 Cassie Remembered Everything

It didn''t take long for Cassie to wake up. Nick was busy looking at her, and he was excited to see that

she opened her eyes. "Hey, how are you doing?" he asked in a low voice.

"I''m doing great," Cassie replied with a smile and lifted her hand to touch his cheek.

Nick leaned forward so Cassie could reach him. Cassie had juste out of the operating room, and

he could see that she was too weak to hold anything.

"Oh, thank goodness you''re awake, Cassie! This is all my brother''s fault. You wouldn''t have passed out

if he didn''t say that to you!" Cora said with both relief and guilt. It took her all of her strength to finally

speak out because it was so embarrassing. If something happened to Cassie, she would never have

    forgiven Jordan for this.

"What? Are you serious? What did he say? I''m going to kill him!" Nick shouted as he got up and stared

    at Cora.

Cora was taken aback by his sudden outrage. She stepped back and avoided his gaze.

Cassie hurriedly sat up and tugged Nick''s shirt, as if to make him calm down. Nick then sat down, still

holding Cassie''s hand. She took a deep breath andy back on the bed again. "It''s alright, Nick. If it

weren''t for him, then I wouldn''t have regained my memory. I remember everything now. It was Le

who pushed me down the stairs from the rooftop after she told me something terrible. It was she who

had plotted Charles''s ident! But her target was Sheryl, not Charles. It was Sheryl, Nick!"

Cassie spoke so fast that she had run out of breath. She gasped for air as her head started spinning

again. She closed her eyes to rx.

"I''m afraid you two need to go out now. It''s not good for Cassie to get too excited or too overwhelmed.

She needs some rest for now. You can visit herter," the nurse said. She had juste in and

immediately saw the pallor in Cassie''s face.

Nick squeezed Cassie''s hands and stroked her hair before leaving with Cora. He waited outside

Cassie''s room as he thought about what she''d just told him.

As they had expected, it was Le who was behind all these idents.

Nick felt a chill run down his spine. He called Sheryl right away to tell her.

When Sheryl heard this, she wasn''t surprised at all. She had been suspicious of Le from the start,

and now that Cassie had told them the truth, she knew she was right. She also couldn''t help but me

herself for getting Cassie involved in this whole mess.

"Nick, please, take care of Cassie. Don''t leave her alone. I''m afraid Le won''t stop if she finds out. I

promise you I''ll make her pay for all of this!" Sheryl clenched her hand into fists out of anger. Suddenly,

she felt a sharp pain shoot through her palm. Her fingernails had dug into her flesh so deeply that she

    had started bleeding.

As soon as Sheryl hung up the phone with Nick, she called the police right away as she didn''t want to

    waste any more time.

Meanwhile, Le had just returned to Dream Garden after being confronted by Sheryl.

Instead of going upstairs to find Melissa, she took a seat on the sofa in the living room and nkly

    stared off into space.

As soon as she entered the room, Nancy noticed her swollen face so naturally she kept her distance

    from Le.

Le wasn''t normally one to back down from a fight, but it seemed as if with Sheryl, she had no choice.

Only Sheryl could do that to Le.

Not long after, Melissa woke up from her nap. She had been tired from spending the day shopping with

her friends. She felt her throat was a bit dry, so she decided to go downstairs for a ss of water. It

didn''t take long for her to see Le.

When Le heard the footsteps, she immediately started crying harder. Nancy couldn''t help but wonder

why Le didn''t choose to have a career in acting—she was so good at it!

Melissa intended to chat with Le when she saw her, but when she heard the sobs, she quickened her

pace. She walked towards Le,pletely forgetting the exhaustion she felt. She asked, "My dear,

why are you crying? Are you okay? Who did this to you? I can''t believe it!"

Le pretended as if she had only just seen Melissa. She sniffed and stopped crying before looking up

    at Melissa.

"What''s wrong with your face? Oh, my God! Did someone hit you? What happened?" Melissa shouted.

Her eyes were widened in disbelief.

Le''s face was delicate, and it angered Melissa to see it swollen. Melissa was shaking in anger now.

"It''s nothing, Aunt Melissa. I''ll be fine. I shouldn''t have stayed in Charles'' house and gone to the

hospital every day to try to attend to his needs. It''s fine. I don''t care if his wife pped me in the face.

It''s my fault anyway," Le blurted out, still choking from her tears.

"It was that woman, wasn''t it? How dare she? I''m going to teach her a lesson!" Melissa yelled. She was

    so pissed off.

"Don''t get mad anymore, Aunt Melissa. It was my fault. I shouldn''t have visited Charles. She was right.

I''m not crying because I''m mad at her; I''m crying because I won''t see Charles anymore. It''s going to be

so hard for me!" Le sobbed. Le had run out of breath from crying. Tears were gushing out of her

    eyes.

It killed Melissa to see Le like this. She balled her hands into fists trying to restrain herself. She hated

    Sheryl so much!

There was no way she was going to just let this go. She swore to herself that she would make Sheryl

pay. As she thought of this, she headed for the door right away. Her face was determined.

Le didn''t get up from the sofa until Melissa was out the door.

She then hastily ran to the door and shouted tearfully, "Where are you going, Aunt Melissa? Just let it

go! You don''t understand. She won''t listen to you! Besides, she''s your daughter-inw. Let''s not make

things worse. Let''s just wait for Charles to wake up!"

Melissa stopped in her tracks, turned to Le, and said, "Le, don''t try to defend that woman to me. I

know what you''re thinking, but that doesn''t mean we''re just going to let her do this. Sometimes, we

need to stand up for ourselves!"

Melissa couldn''t tell that Le was just saying this to get more of her sympathy. She genuinely thought

that Le was defending Sheryl. Sometimes, one might know a person''s face but not her heart.

Melissa wanted to confront Sheryl right away and tell her off. She needed to let Sheryl know that she

wasn''t the queen of this family and that she just couldn''t go on doing stuff like that. Maybe, it was Le

who suffered this time, but next time it would be Melissa, and she wouldn''t stand for that.

Melissa wasted no time. She got into her car and headed to the hospital.

Le pretended to run after the car as if she wanted to stop Melissa. But as soon as the car had

disappeared, a triumphant smile broke onto Le''s face.

"Sheryl, let''s see how you''re going to deal with Charles'' mother. I doubt whether you can p her

across the face. But if you can, then I''ll move out of the house right away," she murmured to herself.

Then she wiped the tears off her cheeks, stalked off to her car, and also headed to the hospital. Since

there was going to be a show, she wanted to be there for it.

The police had arrived at the hospital.

They went to Cassie''s ward first and asked her a few questions before going to the rooftop to

investigate the scene of the crime.

Sheryl asked Nick to go with the police while she stayed with Cassie in her room. She felt bad for all

the things Cassie was going through.

"Cassie, I''m sorry for all of this. This is all my fault. I promise to make this right. Please, forgive me,"

Sheryl said apologetically as she held Cassie''s hands.

If it weren''t for her, Cassie would never have followed Le to the rooftop, and she wouldn''t have been

pushed down the stairs. Cassie even got brain damage from the fall.

Sheryl didn''t mind if other people hurt her, but she hated being the reason why other people got hurt.

People close to her had been running into some bad lucktely, one after another, and she couldn''t

help but think it was her fault. She needed to make it up to them, but she had no idea how. She could

only hope that nothing else would happen to any of the people close to her.

However, Cassie shook her head and looked into Sheryl''s eyes. "No, please, don''t say that, Sher. You

have nothing to do with this. It''s not your fault. Please, don''t me yourself. Look, I''m alive and kicking.

I''ve never been better! You must take care of yourself. Le is a beast in human form. Promise me

you''ll watch yourself around her. I''m afraid she won''t stop until she''s got Charles," she said, sounding

    worried.

Cassie thought that things like this only happened on TV, but now, more than ever, she knew how

possible it was for stuff like this to happen in real life. What was more, she''d seen it with her own two

eyes. A woman was hurting innocent people just to get the man she loved.

She didn''t know whether Le loved Charles, but what she had done was ruthless and inconsiderate.

Cassie might be too young to know what True Love was, but she was sure that love wouldn''t ever want

    to hurt anyone.

Cassie and Sheryl chatted for a while before Cassie fell asleep. Now that everything was clear, she

    could finally sleep well.

When Cora had finished her rounds, she visited Cassie''s ward and found that Cassie was sleeping.

"Sheryl, I talked to my brother. He''s realized that it was his fault, and he said he''d never do anything to

hurt Cassie ever again. I can watch him too--just to make sure. We don''t have to get the police involved

this time. If he does something again, I''ll take him to the police myself," Cora said sincerely. While she

knew she was being unreasonable, she had no choice, and she needed to watch out for her brother.

Sheryl put her finger over her lips as if to tell Cora to keep it down. Then she quickly nced at Cassie

before grabbing Cora''s hand and leading her outside.
