Chapter 1622 Cora Got Irritated
What Le was suggesting was no different from Holley''s idea. Setting up Sheryl had been Holley''s
goal for so long.
Instead of wasting time listening to Le''s unoriginal proposal, Holley directed her attention to
something more important.
She thought about Ferry''s call. Ferry had asked whether she could help him steal some confidential
documents from Shining Company. He promised her that if she was able to do it, he''d write off all
scores between them. However, Holley didn''t really believe Ferry.
"Holley, are you even listening to me?" Le asked angrily. She''d been talking for so long, and Holley
hadn''t said a word, not even an ''um'' to acknowledge what she was saying!
She couldn''t help but feel annoyed.
"I heard you. Going with cyber-bullying Sheryl again? Do you think this is going to work again?" Despite
her mind being far off, Holley still knew what Le had said to her.
"Just help me with this n! Help me look for hackers. I need to defeat Sheryl once and for all!" Le
swore. She clenched her fists to show how determined she was.
"All right! I get it! Is there anything else you want to say? Because I have to go." Holley hung up before
Le could even respond. She figured ck must have gone to his office to wait for her.
Heading to ck''s office, Holley found that he had already eaten dinner. When Holley got there, his
face lit up, and he asked if she would stay.
ck looked excited; however, to his dismay, Holley didn''t seem to feel the same. She forced an
awkward smile when she replied, "I already made ns with Le for tonight. We''re going shopping
together and you really don''t have toe!"
"I think I should go with you! Why not? I''d like to do some shopping myself," ck insisted.
Holley didn''t know what to say. She was a bit annoyed at ck''s persistence.
She just wanted ck to take the hint that she was giving him, just this once. She was pretty clear on
what she wanted, but he still didn''t seem to understand.
She forced a smallugh. "Le and I will be fine! Besides, I don''t think it looks good for two girls to be
shopping, while some man follows them from behind. It''s fine, you can go home and rest. I''ll call you
when I get home, okay?" This was the only way Holley could think of that would both reject ck and
at the same time, not anger him. It worked because ck gave in.
Holley was able to reject ck''s request sweetly.
Thoughtful as ck ever was, he didn''t leave until he''d dropped Holley off at her meeting ce with
Le.
She watched as ck got into his car, and waited until the car had disappeared into the distance. Only
then did she rx. She didn''t waste another moment and hailed a taxi right away. She lied to ck
because she spoke to Le before she went to ck''s office. She just wanted to get away from him so
she could rest.
Le snuck inside Cassie''s room. Today was her lucky day, as no one was watching Cassie.
She knew that she had to be extra careful because she was the reason why Cassie was here in the
first ce—she had pushed Cassie down the stairs, which had caused hera. If Cassie woke up,
Le would suffer because Cassie would certainly tell on her and expose her evil deed.
While Cassie still wasn''t showing any signs of waking soon, Le knew that it would happen sooner or
mind. Thus, she grew more anxious as each day passed.
Le cautiously approached the door to Cassie''s room. First, she pressed her ear against the door,
listening for any noise that would indicate someone being inside. She only heard silence; hence,
Cassie was alone. She gently pushed the door open.
When she got inside, she studied Cassie as malicious thoughts crossed her mind. Cassiey quietly in
her bed, still in aa. She looked so weak and fragile. Right now, her life was dependent on a
machine, and she was connected to an oxygen tube, that helped her breathe. Le then decided to
remove the oxygen tube, which was helping Cassie to breathe.
"What are you doing?" Cora shrieked. She had been watching over Cassie in ce of Nick. She''d just
stepped out for a while, so she was surprised to find Le when she returned.
Taken by surprise, Le stumbled a few steps back. Her body was shaking as she turned. Le was
confused when she saw Cora, who was a stranger to her.
Cora didn''t know Le either. However, she had just caught her about to practically kill Cassie, so she
guessed her intentions to be bad.
"Who are you yelling at? I''m here to see Cassie. She''s my friend!" Le yelled back. The idea to y
innocent had just urred to her. Cautiously, she acted calm and avoided seeming guilty.
Uncertain now, Cora looked back at Le for a moment before asking, "Well, then, who are you?"
Cora eyed Le suspiciously, and suddenly a notion came to her. Le reminded her of someone she
knew, though her memory was not clear on this. She tried her best to try and recall, but couldn''t.
"It''s none of your business. And who are you? How dare you talk to me like that?" Le wouldn''t be so
stupid as identify herself.
As she spoke, she slowly headed for the door.
Le knew she had to leave before Cora became even more suspicious. When Le left, Cora called
Nick right away because she had a bad feeling about Le.
Cora tried her best to describe the woman she''d seen to Nick. Nick immediately knew who Cora was
talking about. Who else could it be but Le?
"Did you see what she did to Cassie?" Nick asked, sounding concerned.
This didn''t slip by Cora, so sheforted him, "Don''t worry! Nothing''s going to happen to Cassie as
long as I''m here. I just thought that the woman was strange."
"All right, can you please stay with her? I''m heading there right now." Nick was just about to fall asleep
when he received the call from Cora. Suddenly, he wasn''t sleepy at all.
Cora then stayed with Cassie. Everything was quiet in the room. The silence was suddenly broken
when Nick pushed the door open, rushing in. Cora was taken by surprise as she didn''t expect Nick to
arrive so soon. She thought, ''What? Can he fly now? How did he get here so fast?''
"Who was that woman?" Cora asked Nick immediately. She couldn''t help but be curious because the
woman also reminded her of someone she''d seen before.
Nick didn''t respond to her right away. He was busy fussing over Cassie; checking Cassie''s vitals, the
machine she was plugged to, everything. When he was sure that Cassie was fine, he heaved a sigh of
relief.
Only then did he snapped out of his bubble. It was only then that he realized that Cora had asked him a
question. Frowning, he responded, "Her name''s Le." His voice was as firm and cold as his face.

"What? Le?" Cora eximed in shock.
She remembered the woman from the surveince camera. That exined why Le had seemed so
familiar when she first saw her.
Cora then started to feel guilty. She thought she should have stopped Le from leaving.
"I''m going to look for her right now! We need to settle this. How dare shee in here, threatening
Cassie''s life? Didn''t she know that I''m here?" Cora was infuriated. She rolled up her sleeves as she
spoke. She was preparing for a fight as she headed to the ICU.
Nick didn''t n on stopping her because he felt the same way. If he could, he''d lock Le up in jail!
Shortly after, Nick and Cora looked for Le so they could confront her.
Le wasn''t surprised. Earlier when she got caught in Cassie''s room, she''d already prepared herself for
this confrontation. She braced herself as she''d already nned on what to say so she didn''t need to
worry anymore.
Seeing the anger on both Nick and Cora''s faces, Le managed to remain calm. She folded her arms
across her chest as she asked, "So what are you doing here? Are you here for Charles? He''s doing
fine."
"Le, you''re a horrible person! Why would you sneak inside Cassie''s room when you knew I wasn''t
there? What were you going to do?" Cora blurted out.
Cora trembled in fear as she recalled the moment she caught Le. If she''d been just a secondte,
she didn''t even want to think what would have happened to Cassie. She cursed herself for being so
careless, but she also despised Le even more for being so cunning.
"Weren''t you at Cassie''s room earlier? Didn''t I already tell you what I was doing?" Le sneered.
Cora didn''t know what to say upon hearing how arrogant Le was. She was taken aback by her
confidence.
"Le, stop acting like we''re fools! We know what you were going to do! I''m warning you, stay the hell
away from Cassie. If you go anywhere near her again, I''ll make your life a living hell," Nick barked. He
was running out of patience with Le.
