Chapter 1602 Dispute
Standing to the side, Nick felt confused when he saw the police officerse in. ''Was what had
happened to Charles more than just a simple ident?'' he wondered.
"Yes, here I am," Sheryl answered the police as she stood up. The presence of the police reminded her
of the gruesome scene of the ident.
"Please describe to us how the ident happened. What caused the car to hit your husband? Did you
see the car''s license te number?" one of the police officers asked. The series of questions from the
police officers made Sheryl''s head ache and her heart break. She shook her head in grief.
After a while Sheryl managed to recover a bit. Then she disjointedly said, "He was in my car in the
beginning, but then he got out of the car after a quarrel with me. Then..."
Sheryl couldn''t continue because the image of Charles covered in blood popped up in her mind again.
Her brain reeled in terror, and for a moment, she felt like she was going to explode.
"All right, stop with the questions, officers! She can''t answer anything under such circumstances! Can''t
you wait until she has had some time to recover?" Iined angrily. She then pulled Sheryl away
to the side and hugged her tofort her.
I didn''t want to see them pushing Sheryl around like that. Sheryl was still in shock and grieving, so
she couldn''t possibly make a witness statement at that moment.
The police were also perplexed since they couldn''t do anything without the witness statement.
Seeing that I was trying to protect her, Sheryl couldn''t help but feel touched. At the same time, she
was also worried that I would cause conflict with the police. So, she tugged on I''s arm and said,
"I, I''m fine. Could you take Nick outside and wait for me there? I have to tell the police everything
that I know."
She sent them away on purpose.
I also understood what Sheryl was afraid of, so she sighed and prepared to take her leave.
"Fine then. We''re leaving now. If you have a problem, just call me." Then, I left the room reluctantly.
Melissa and Le arrived at the hospital at the same time, right after I had left. I and Nick went
out to buy Sheryl something to eat, so they missed them by ident.
One hour ago at Dream Garden things had been different. Before Melissa and Le knew about the
ident, they had been gloating over thements on the website that abused Sheryl for her
immorality.
Le said, "Aunt Melissa, you can rest assured. Last night I already showed Charles the pictures that
my friend gave me. I''m sure Charles isn''t going to stay with Sheryl anymore after seeing those!"
Le said with absolute certainty, whichpletely convinced Melissa as well.
Melissa was very satisfied, so she nodded to Le as she said, "Le, you did a great job! If it weren''t
for you, I would still be racking my brain, and trying to get rid of that bitch, Sheryl. God only knows
when she would have left Charles on her own. Thanks for your help!"
Le was ted when she heard Melissa''spliment.
She didn''t show any sign of it on her face though. She shook her head and said gently, "Aunt Melissa,
don''t say that. That''s what I should say. We are family, aren''t we?"
"Yes, yes! We are family!"
As soon as Melissa finished speaking, her cellphone buzzed.
The call was from an unknown number. Melissa picked it up, but before she could say anything, a voice
on the other end of the line asked, "Excuse me, are you Melissa Shen?"
Somehow Melissa had a feeling that something bad might have happened as soon as she heard the
unknown person speak.
"Yes, I am. Who are you?" Melissa asked in confusion.
"I''m a police officer. Is Charles Lu your son? He had a car ident, and he is in the First People''s
Hospital now."
"What''s going on?" Melissa asked the caller in total shock.
She had still managed to keep calm when she heard that the speaker was a police officer, but as soon
as she was told that Charles had been involved in a car ident, she lost her head.
The sentence "He had a car ident" kept swirling in Melissa''s head.
Before she could figure out more, the police hung up immediately.
Seeing Melissa''s aghast expression, Le knew that something bad must have happened. She asked
anxiously, "Aunt Melissa, what''s wrong?"
"Charles had a car ident!" Melissa repeated the sentence numbly. She was still in shock because of
the bad news.
"What?" Le screamed. She wasn''t any less shocked than Melissa was.
Unwilling to waste any time, they both rushed to the hospital as soon as possible. To their disgust, they
came across Sheryl when they arrived.
"Why are you here? Did you set up that ident to kill my son?" Melissa snapped as soon as she saw
Sheryl, without even considering any other scenario first.
Totally caught off guard, Sheryl was stupefied by Melissa''s reproach. Before she could react, Melissa
immediately charged at her. She shouted at Sheryl and grabbed at her hair like an angry beast.
Le sneered as she watched the chaos break out. She didn''t do anything to stop them. Instead, she
walked to a safe corner to enjoy the show.
The police present were all shocked by the unexpected incident. After they came to their senses, they
restrained Melissa and Sheryl from hurting each other and pulled them apart. One police officer
snapped angrily, "What are you doing here? This is a hospital! If you want a fight, get out!"
Of course the police knew who Charles was—he was a sessful businessman.
The old woman must then be Charles'' mother. ''The Lu family is a distinguished n. Isn''t thedy
supposed to be noble and elegant? Why is she acting like a barbarian and a shrew?'' they wondered.
Melissaposed herself after the police stopped her. Even though she had stopped attacking Sheryl,
that didn''t mean that she would shut her mouth.
"Listen up, Sheryl! You''re such a bitch! You have brought a curse onto Charles! If anything happens to
him, I swear that I''ll kill you!" she threatened in great fury. She forgot that the police were there as she
threatened Sheryl with death.
Sheryl had the right to sue Melissa for what she had done with the police as witnesses of the incident.

"Aunt Melissa, calm down," Le said immediately. She came towards Melissa and pulled her to the
side because she was afraid that things might get out of control.
Melissa was displeased that Le had stopped her. While she was so annoyed that she was ready to
get rid of Le, Le leaned close and whispered, "Aunt Melissa, the police are here. Be mindful of
what you say!"
Le really thought, from the bottom of her heart, that Melissa was a dumb woman.
How could she say that she would kill someone right in front of the police? Did she have any reason in
her mind? Couldn''t she think it over before she said that sort of thing?
Le was d to see that Melissa had given Sheryl a good beating, but if she went too far in front of
the police, she might get herself in trouble. Le herself couldn''t do anything without Melissa''s help,
and she needed her help.
Melissa came to her senses after Le reminded her of that. She patted her head and said, "Damn it! I
was just too angry when I saw that bitch. What would I do if anything happened to Charles?"
Melissa couldn''t even bear to think about her situation if anything bad ever happened to Charles.
She had not been set free from prison that long ago. She hadn''t gotten to enjoy enough of her beautiful
life as a richdy yet. Was it all going to end again because of her outburst?
Melissa was concerned for Charles, of course, but she was also worried about her own destiny. She
was afraid that her wealthy life would end forever in the very near future.
Sometimes, Melissa couldn''t tell what she loved more, her well off life as Mrs. Lu, or her son, Charles,
who gave her everything.
"Aunt Melissa?" Le called softly. She noticed that Melissa was in a trance after she muttered those
words, so she called her name to wake her up.
"What?" Melissa was pulled back to reality after Le called out to her. She looked at Le and asked,
"How can I bear to keep quiet after all that has happened?"
"Aunt Melissa, it''s not the right time to do anything. After the police leave, nobody will care what you do
to Sheryl, even if you decide to beat her up!" Le said in a low voice. After hearing that, Melissa
nodded and went along with her.
The police also felt relieved after the chaos had calmed down. They couldn''t help but think that conflicts
between the members of big families were indeed as dramatic as the TV shows made them look. They
hadn''t seen anything that dramatic before today.
