Chapter 1440 Her Bottom Line

    Chapter 1440 Her Bottom Line

However, Cora wanted to get to the bottom of this. She kept asking Cassie who it was.

After beating around the bushes for too long, Cassie ran out of excuses and had to tell Cora the truth.

    "Well, I''m seeing Nick tonight."

"Whoa, I see. It''s that mysterious Nick. When am I going to meet him?"

Cassie answered shyly, "He''s a little introvert. So he doesn''t know how to interact with people."

"Well, I am your best friend. It''s only right for me to meet your boyfriend. Come on, Cassie. I want to

meet him," Cora teased Cassie. She was excited that Cassie seemed happy with Nick, although she

felt sorry for her brother, knowing that Jordan was out of the game.

"Okay, I will let you two meet when he''s not so busy." Cassie finally gave in. She knew that Cora

wouldn''t just stop until she said yes anyway.

Actually, Cassie herself wasn''t sure whether Nick would agree to meet Cora. After all, she couldn''t see

    Nick now.

After leaving the hospital, Cassie decided to drop by the supermarket to buy some fresh vegetables for

    tonight''s soup.

Although she was exhausted from all day''s work, Cassie didn''t bother about buying ingredients and

cooking when she got home. She was happy that she could see Nick soon and they might even resolve

all conflicts between them. She wanted to continuously practice on her cooking skills so that she could

prepare a wonderful meal for Nick when that day came.

Therefore, no matter how tired she was, it would be worth it.

On the other hand, Cora went straight home after work. Pushing the door open, Cora found it odd.

She was confused to find the living room so dark. Reaching out to the switch, she flicked it on. Cora

almost had a heart attack when she saw a person seated on the sofa.

''What the heck? Someone is at home!'' she thought. She was not expecting to see anyone. She thought

that her parents were out and her brother hadn''te home yet.

"Jordan, why didn''t you turn on the light? What were you doing sitting in the dark? You scared me."

Cora immediately recognized her brother, Jordan. She ced her bag on top of the table, walked

towards him, and then sat down right beside him.

    Jordan remained silent, unmoving.

Cora looked at him with confusion, noticing that his face was gloomy.

''Is it about work?'' Cora wondered. He appeared low-spirited.

"Jordan, at least say something. You''re scaring me. Is there anything wrong at work?" Cora couldn''t

hide the concern in her voice.

"Nothing," Jordan answered a few secondster. His voice sounded hoarse.

Hearing the harshness in his voice, Cora thought that he was sick. "Jordan, if you''re not feeling well,

you should go see a doctor," she reminded him. "Please don''t act like Cassie. Whenever I ask how

she''s feeling, she says she''s okay. But I know she''s not. She looks very pale."

"What happened to Cassie?" Jordan asked with concern. The name of Cassie was enough to get his

    attention. Something passed his eyes.

But Cora didn''t notice that. "When we got off work today, I noticed that she didn''t look so well. I asked

her to see a doctor, but she insisted that she was just tired from work. She said that she would be fine

after she took some rest. So I invited her to dinner, but she declined, saying that she has a date..."

"Who is she dating?" Jordan interrupted Cora.

Without thinking too much, Cora answered, "The guy that Cassie likes. What''s his name?" She paused

while she worked it out. "Ah, Nick! You and I haven''t met him yet." Cora took a nce at her brother

while she was talking, and his face appeared more dreary.

It was toote for her to realize that she should have kept her mouth shut. Jordan had always taken

care of Cassie because he liked Cassie. Now that he learned that Cassie had a crush on another man,

Cora wondered if Jordan would be upset.

She worried on how he would react. All of sudden, Jordan stood up and headed towards the door.

"Wait, Jordan! Where are you going? It''ste now. Why don''t you just stay home?" Cora wanted to

catch up with him but Jordan was already at the door.

"Dad and Mom are out to visit a friend. They''ll be home soon. You stay at home and don''t follow me,"

Jordan warned Cora as he stepped out, shutting the door behind him.

    Cora was dumbfounded.

''Is Jordan mad? Is he going to find Cassie?''

Cora''s random thoughts startled her. She quickly took out her phone and dialed Cassie''s number,

wanting to give her a heads-up.

The phone started ringing. Cora waited patiently, hoping Cassie would pick up. But her phone just rang

    out.

Cora suddenly understood that Cassie might be too busy to take her call. Being on a date with Nick,

Cassie probably wanted no distractions so her phone was put on silent mode.

Cora smiled and shook her head, although she was afraid that Jordan would really go out to find

    Cassie.

It was a busy night at the night club. The two bouncers at the main entrance were busy screening

    prospective clubbers for entry.

After Le left the Dream Garden, she had to tighten her belt. Life was getting harder for her each day

and she had to find a job.

Unfortunately, she couldn''tnd any decent jobs. She didn''t have any source of ie, other than the

allowance she was getting from Melissa, and it was not even enough tost for a month. Therefore,

Le had to rent a shabby single room. Every night, she would put on her sexy dress and wear heavy

makeup to work in the night club.

Tonight, she went to the night club on time. The moment she walked inside in her short dress, men

were catcalling at her. She was like a diamond sparkling in the dark. Everyone in the room couldn''t

    resist looking at her.

Le was an expert on men and had a gift of gab. She knew how to please those wealthy bosses

enough to get them to spend their money on her. Besides, she looked extremely hot in her tight outfits.

Her hourss figure never failed to capture the whole club''s attention each night. She was also a good

dancer, having a goodmand ofp dances. She had high tolerance in alcohol and would be happy

to drink with guests when necessary. Men loved to spend time with Le.

But Le had her bottom line. She wouldn''t go out and spend the night with any guest. She had

numerous offers but declined them all. The more adamant she was, the more assertive the guests

were to get herid. Perhaps it was because she appeared as a challenge and men always loved to

    conquer challenges.

No matter how much money they gave her or what they said, Le would reject them. Every time a

guest wanted to ask her out, she could always find an excuse and get away with it.

Like any other ces, the dressing room was a ce of gossips.

It was not the first time that the other women working in the night club kept gossiping about Le. "Le

is such a bitch. We all know what kind of person she is. Otherwise, she won''t be working here. Now

she is ying hard to get, acting all ssy. She really makes me sick."

No one could deny that since Le started working in the night club, her service was noted as the

highest which made other women jealous. Her poprity rose high like a rocket, and women would

vent their spleen by gossiping about her whenever they got the chance.

"Tell me about it. She really disgusts me, especially when I see her rejecting all those men. Come on, I

know how much she wants their money," another womanmented.

It was fair to say that what Le did would surely cause jealousy and rumors. Whenever there were

people, there would surely be gossip. A night club was no exception.
