Chapter 1436 Lillians Death

    Chapter 1436 Lillian''s Death

Felix was met with a gust of cool wind as soon as he stepped out the door. He looked around only to

find darkness surrounding him. He was still trembling with fear. He couldn''t get Lillian''s face off his mind

—her face was distorted with pain. He couldn''t ever forget that.

This horrible image would haunt him forever. The feeling of Lillian''s ghost following him never left him.

He dragged his feet to his car, got in, and closed the door shut. He broke down, crying.

Soon, the engine whirred and the car sped away.

When he got home, he was like a walking zombie. He couldn''t even remember how he got home. He

sat on the sofa knowing for sure that he wouldn''t be getting any sleep tonight.

As foresight, Felix grabbed some sleeping pills from his medicine kit. He downed them in one gulp

because he didn''t want to have a sleepless night. He had lots of work lined up for the next day, and he

didn''t want to wallow in what just happened that night.

The next morning, Sheryl and Charles had already called the police. Soon, the tranquility of the

The police knew where Lillian lived. They figured it out the night before so when morning came, the first

thing they did was head to her home in an attempt to arrest her for the attempted murder.

The neighbors gathered around to discuss what was happening as they heard the sirens.

"Is there a criminal living among us?" a middle-aged woman eximed, tightly hugging her chest.

"Probably! The police seldom show up here, and there are so many police cars here. Must be

    something big!" someone chimed in.

It was an oldmunity so there wasn''t much going on around here. Only a few minor offenses, if

anything. They''d never seen so many police swarming the area before.

There were some who even had the guts to ask the police about what was happening. "Officer, what''s

happening? Should we be concerned as amunity?"

None of the police officers answered their questions. They just wanted to do their job which was arrest

Lillian. They didn''t even so much as look at the crowd surrounding them as they entered Lillian''s home.

Footsteps echoed from the narrow stairway, and soon the police was inside Lillian''s home.

They stopped in front of her door. When everyone was ready, one police knocked on the door.

However, nobody answered. They tried many times but no one was answering, and they couldn''t hear

any sounding from the inside. Suddenly, the atmosphere was so serious.

Could Lillian have found out that they were arresting her and have consequently fled the area?

The police looked at each other as they considered all the possibilities.

The captain nced at his men and decided to break into the house.

The captain leaned sideways to make way for his colleagues. One police came forward, bumping

against the door fiercely. Soon, the door was broken down.

They filed in one after another. However, what they saw shocked them.

Their suspecty on the floor, motionless. They knew something was wrong.

One of the police came forward and squatted down to check on Lillian. He checked her breath and

neck, but there was no pulse. He looked at his colleagues and shook his head gravely.

"The suspect is dead. We don''t know how long she''s been dead. We need to have her checked," he

    said.

The police were shocked and it showed on their faces. They didn''t expect this. They didn''t know why

    Lillian would be dead.

They started to cordon off the area and search in her room. That was where they found the envelope.

They picked it up and unfolded it hoping for any information.

They were pleased to find that the letter was a confession and it contained all the information they were

looking for. It turned out that Lillian hadmitted suicide because of what she did.

The letter wrote, "I havemitted a crime. I havemitted a heinous crime and my heart is ridden

with guilt and remorse. I can''t handle this anymore.

To anyone who finds and reads this letter, please let Sheryl know how deeply sorry I am. I''m so sorry,

Sheryl. I hope this makes up for what I did to her. I just can''t forgive myself and I can''t live in shame

    and guilty any longer.

I have fallen in love with Sheryl''s husband, Charles. I know it isn''t proper of me to covet what is taken

but I cannot control my heart and what it feels. I was so jealous that I wanted her gone. I was so

jealous of her. I envied her. She was my patient and she was a lovely one. I don''t know what I was

thinking. It was a terrible mistake.

When I finally came to my senses, I realized I wouldn''t be able to forgive myself. Ending my life is only

way I could ever atone for the crime I havemitted."

Everyone fell into a thick silence when they read the letter. They went through a range of emotions. The

letter made sense somehow but there was something wrong and they couldn''t quite put their finger at

    it.

The police collected evidence around the room and sent it back to the police station. Lillian''s body was

also sent to forensic experts for further check-up.

Since Lillian''s letter mentioned Charles, the police got in touch with Sheryl and Charles right away,

informed them of the letter, and asked them to cooperate.

Charles was utterly confused by what the police told him. As a matter of fact, he had never met Lillian

before. Even Sheryl didn''t know her that well and she''d only known her for a short while.

How could Lillian say that she was in love with him? It just didn''t make any sense!

Charles and Sheryl thought that Lillian''s exnation was suspicious. They knew Lillian wasn''t being

"Lillian can''t havemitted suicide. It must be someone else. She must have been murdered," Sheryl

    said.

The police had already considered that possibility. However, they didn''t want to postpone closing the

case. They wanted to finish the case right away. Lillian''s suicide was the best exnation for her death

and Sheryl''s case. It solved everything. The letter Lillian left was written in her handwriting so there was

no reason to believe otherwise. Moreover, Sheryl didn''t have any proof that Lillian didn''tmit suicide

    and was instead murdered.

She was only specting. So, the police had no choice but to conclude that the suspect had indeed

Sheryl''s ims were baseless so they couldn''t act on it. Lillian didn''t have any family or other friends so

no one backed Sheryl up on further investigation. The case had been closed.

The hospital released a public statement of apology directed towards Sheryl and her family. The

director himself visited Charles and Sheryl to apologize privately. He also providedpensation for

the stress and damage it caused them. After all, Lillian was only able to do what she did because of the

hospital''s poor management. Sheryl and Charles weren''t exactly weing at first. They hesitated

before finally decided to ept the hospital''s apology and offer ofpensation when they realized

that there was nothing else they could do.

The crisis was over, and they all decided to move on.This content ? N?v/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
