Chapter 1427 Getting Drunk

    Chapter 1427 Getting Drunk

"You don''t have to worry about anything. I''m here for you. I can do everything for you." Charles grabbed

Sheryl''s hand. He noticed the fear in her eyes so he tried his best tofort her.

"I know. I know, Charles. I''m so lucky that you''re here with me," Sheryl said lovingly. She looked at

Charles and felt her heart warming up.

"Baby, I''m so sorry that you have to go through all of this. I know that I wronged you. But it''s all over

now. Le''s gone and we''ll never see her again. No one will ever speak ill of you in front of my mother

again. From now on, we''ll live happily as a family. Isn''t that great?" Charles said.

Sheryl smiled in response, but in her mind, she thought, ''I''d love to live happily ever after with my

family, but I''m just not sure that day will evere.''

"Charles, does Le really have to go?" Sheryl asked him softly.

"Of course she has to go. We''ll never feel safe as long as she''s here. Besides, it''s not like she''s family

or anything," Charles said, his voice turning cold suddenly.

Sheryl knew the things that Le did to her—nning her kidnapping and ruining her rtionship with

Charles'' mother. ''I think Charles knows all the things that Le did to me and my children, and that''s

probably why he wants Le to leave, '' Sheryl thought to herself.

"But... How does Mom feel about that?" Sheryl knew it wasn''t easy as it looked like. That was why she

sounded anxious as she brought up the topic of Melissa to Charles.

"Of course she just wanted Le out," Charles answered though untruthfully. He couldn''t tell Sheryl the

truth. He wouldn''t tell her about how Melissa told him to let Le stay and forgive her.

All he wanted was to live a happy and harmonious life with Sheryl and Melissa like a family. He only

hoped that Sheryl and Melissa would get along.

Sheryl found Charles avoiding eye contact with her. She figured that Charles was hiding something

from her which made her understand that Melissa didn''t want Le to go. But she didn''t point this out. If

Charles told her that Melissa was happy about the whole situation, then Sheryl would believe if only to

    make things easier for Charles.

''It doesn''t matter what she feels now because we have time. With time, we''ll know if everything really is

for the best, '' Sheryl thought to herself.

    At Tarsan Corporation

After going through tons of files, Holley realized that it was gettingte. Two hours had passed and she

    hadn''t even noticed.

After pausing for a moment, she reached for her phone and looked up ck''s phone number.

At this point in her life, she was trying her best to live a normal life. She tried to do everything right so

she wouldn''t get into trouble or bother Sheryl anymore. Moreover, she was developing a rtionship

with ck, and it was going well. But the night she spent in the vi of Hu family left a scar in her heart.

It was something she didn''t ever want to remember again. And when she was woken up by nightmares

in the middle of the night, she felt so helpless and lost.

After that night, Holley set fewer meetings with clients. She also tried to meet her clients in public

ces. Normally, small cases were handled by the business manager or her assistant. If she really had

to attend these kinds of meetings, she was very careful so as to not get caught by Rex''s people. And if

she did get caught, ck would be so disappointed. Without ck and the Hu family''s support, she

    would lose everything.

After losing the support of the Hu family, Holley would lose everything to the stockholders of Tarsan

corporation. They never did like her and that was their best shot at taking over the corporation.

Soon, Holley''s call hade through and ck''s voice suddenly came to her ear.

"Baby, are you calling me because you miss me?" ck asked.

Holley''s face was stoic, but when she spoke, she used a sweet voice. "Baby, are you free tonight? Do

you want to have dinner together?"

"Dinner? I have to have dinner with a client. You cane with me if you like," ck offered.

Holley thought it over in her mind. ''It is the type of dinner where those people talk about business and

numbers the entire time. I don''t want to have dinner with them after a long day at work, '' Holley thought

    to herself.

"Darling, if you have a dinner party, I don''t think I should be bothering you. It''s okay, I''ll find something

else to do," Holley said. "Besides, I don''t know your guest tonight, so I think it''s better if I not go. I also

don''t feel like drinking alcohol today," Holley added.

ck also said he didn''t want Holley dressing up so nicely just for other men to see her. "All right,

    baby," ck said.

"Darling, you''re the best. You''re so good to me," Holley said as if she meant every word.

"Yes, your boyfriend is the best. Baby, can youe home right after you get off work? I don''t want to

worry about you all night long," ck said in a soft voice before hanging up the phone.

After he hung up, Holley stared at the phone for a moment. She realized how good of a boyfriend ck

really was. But Holley didn''t love him.

Holley was already in love with another man, so however good ck was, she wouldn''t fall for him.

She felt that he was a good and sweet man but she would never fall in love with him.

After she cleaned up her table, she stared at her phone and looked at the phone numbers in her mobile

phone, looking for someone to talk with after she got off her work. She suddenly felt that she didn''t

even have someone to talk with.

Suddenly, a name came into sight.

    It was Rachel.

''How could I have her phone number?'' Holley thought to herself.

''Rachel is lost. No one knows where she is right now. Maybe she''s dead, who knows? So why am I

keeping her phone number and name in my phone?'' Holley thought.

She felt anger stirring in her heart.

She hovered her finger over Rachel''s name feeling her whole body freeze. Finally, she decided to

delete the number once and for all.

Holley felt much better after she deleted the number. She found herself breathing easier after.

She stood up and walked out of her office.

A couple of momentster, her white car pulled out of parking lot.

At the Blue Bird bar, women and men alike moved their bodies to the rhythm of the music and the

    glimmer of the light.

By the bar counter, a woman in heavy makeup stood there holding a ss of wine.

Soon, the ss was drained empty.

"Hit me!" the woman said to the bartender. Her face was red from the wine—this flush only made her

    look more beautiful.

The bartender stared at the woman, ining to himself in his mind.

''She''s been here for like an hour. She''s had dozens of sses of wine and she still wants more? She''s

obviously drunk! When will she stop? Does she want to drink until she drops dead?'' he thought to

    himself.

The bartender had seen a lot of drunk women at the bar. But he had never seen anyone like this

    woman before.

He poured her another ss right away.

    "Here," he said.

"That''s...that''s great!" the woman said in a strange tone. She held the ss and put it between her lips.

She lowered her nose to smell the wine before smiling with satisfaction and downing the ss in one

    gulp.

    "More!" she yelled again.

The bartender was speechless. While it was his job to pour drinks for his customers, he also preferred

it when his customers actually enjoyed themselves. He couldn''t believe he was watching this woman

drink until she dropped dead. He certainly didn''t want anything bad to happen to this woman.

"Miss, you''re drunk. Do you live nearby? I can call a taxi to take you home," he offered.

The woman just stared at him for a few moments before bursting intoughter. "Home? What home? I

don''t have a home! I don''t have a home to go back to!"
