Keegan understood what Carter meant and said, “I’ll call you backter.”
After the call ended, Lena looked at Carter and asked, “What is it about?”
“Nothing much. He just wants to have a drink with me because it’s been a while since we met.”
“Go ahead then. I’ll get something to eat around here and get a cab back myself,” Lena said.
“No way.” Carter immediately rejected her suggestion. “I’ll stay with you for a while first.”
Lena felt helpless. There was nothing she could do to change how clingy Carter was, but she kind of
liked it too.
Carter leaned in and kissed her on the lips. “Lena, why don’t you switch to another less demanding
position? You’ve been working overtime so frequently; it isn’t good for your health. Look, you’ve lost
weight again.”
Lena lowered her gaze and said, “This is my field of expertise. What else can I do other than this?”
“You could work in the management department. It’s less tiring.”
In that way, not only that Lena would not have to put herself in danger on the front lines, but it was also
the easiest path to get a promotion.

“If we have children in the future, and the job is still as busy as now, I’ll consider switching to
management.”
Carter was taken aback by her response. A faint smile appeared, and he said, “Okay.”
After eating and sending Lena back home, Carter called Keegan. He asked directly, “Are you a friend of
the victim of this case?”
“I’m not, but I know who he is and how he was murdered.”
The case had been widely spread. Keegan figured that Hylda would definitely start escaping, judging
by how clever she was.
Although Keegan knew about the truth behind Walter’s death, he could not provide the police with the
audio recording he heard earlier. The case would be much moreplicated if he was involved.
The police had limited efficiency, and Keegan was worried that Hylda might already be gone before
they sorted out the facts.
So, he needed Carter to do what he did best and present the evidence to solve the case as soon as
possible.

something legal for me to do next time?”
“Hackers are meant to break thew. That’s how they showcase their skills.” Keegan said indifferently.
Carter pointed a middle finger at him.

Carter paused and swept his gaze across him. “I only did that because I respected you back then.
However, it seems like you’re not a respectable person, so I won’t do that anymore.”
Keegan stood up and buttoned his suit. Then, he looked at Carter and said, “Both of you are the same.”
Carter ignored what he said. “I’ll help you again for your wife -because your ex-wife helped Lena
before. However, you’ll have to pay me the next time you ask for my help again.”
Keegan was speechless.
“Hmph.” Keegan scoffed and corrected him. “She’s my fiancee, not my ex-wife.”
He then showed the engagement ring on his finger to the camera and spoke somewhat proudly. “Ste
