Chapter 1240

    Chapter 1240

Gary''s heart was burning with anxiety.

Celeste came all the way here, for Ernest''s sake. Had she regarded him as something she could

    trample on as she wished?

What was even more exasperating was that she said he couldn''t survive on his own; he needed to

    rely on Ernest.

Plus, she was going to leave after she finished what she wanted to say.

Gary was fuming. However, at the veryst moment, he couldn''t hold himself back and pulled her

into his arms, seeing that she was about to leave.

    Celeste was also taken aback.

    ? 2024 N?v/el/Dram/a.Org.

At that very moment, she could pick up the fresh and refreshing scent of his fragrance. It was most

likely the scent of mint soap mixed with his own scent. It was particrly fragrant.

Her heart was pounding wildly, and she was at a loss as to what to do.

However, in the next second, she was released from his embrace.

He took a step back and stared at her; a trace of embarrassment shed across his handsome

    face.

He stared at Celeste and uttered in a rough voice, "Do you think you can juste here anytime

you want and leave whenever you wish?"

Celeste pursed her lips and thought that the hug was probably just him identally pulling too hard.

    It was an ident.

He didn''t do it on purpose.

Celeste also controlled herself from flushing as she lowered her eyes slightly and whispered, "I am

the one to me, and I sincerely apologize. I should have respected your choice. If you really have

decided, then I won''t continue to force you. At least I won''t regret now that I''ve tried."

"Celeste." Gary saw that Celeste had lowered her head, and she didn''t dare to look at him. After

saying so many words in one breath, she refused to look him in the eye. Meanwhile, Gary''s heart

    was surging with emotions.

There was a hint of disappointment in his eyes.

His breathing became heavier due to the fluctuation in his emotions.

"Yes?" Celeste raised her head and looked at Gary.

She saw the turbulence deep down in his eyes. The surface was calm as a stagnant pond, but deep

    down, it was turbulent.

She couldn''t quite understand why Gary always looked like he had all the worries in the world at

    such a young age.

"Is there something you want to say?" Celeste mustered up her courage again. "Can you just say it

out loud? I don''t understand what is going on in your mind. Can you just spit it out?"

Some emotions were fierce and indomitable.

However, Gary wasn''t the kind of person who would say his thoughts out loud, especially when it

    concerned his emotions.

It seemed that Celeste waspletely unaware.

    It made sense.

He understood everything at the age of sixteen, but this girl in front of him was probably still

    clueless.

Gary restrained himself. Even if he said it out loud, he felt that Celeste would not be able to

    comprehend.

However, he felt that he would regret it if he continued to keep it in his heart.

"What I want to say is follow me to the United States. Ignore Ernest." He finally forced himself to say

    it out loud.

    This was his sincere request.

Celeste was startled and stared at him with wide eyes. After a long while, she shook her head. "I''m

sorry, Gary. I have already made up my mind that if you''re willing to ask Ernest to go to the United

States with us, then the three of us will go together. If you''re not willing to do that, then I''ll go to

    Ennd with Ernest."

    This was her decision.

It was as if a sharp dagger had stabbed into Gary''s heart.

He stood frozen, expecting that this would happen.

He suddenly smirked. His eyes were filled with disappointment, and there was a tinge of coldness in

    his grin.

    "You should leave."

Celeste was dumbfounded. For a moment, she felt a little regretful and wanted to say that she still

wanted to go to the United States.

But she had spoken out loud; she didn''t want to go back on her words.

"Goodbye, then," Celeste muttered and went out.

This time, Gary did not stop her.

    Celeste left just like that.

Then, his room fell intoplete silence.

He heard the sound of the door closing.

Outside the room, Celeste wiped away the tears in her eyes and left only after the redness in her

    eyes subsided.

As she reached the ground floor, she saw Grace was still waiting there. She walked over and said,

"Auntie, sorry for disturbing you. I''ll be leaving first."

"Celeste, how is it?" Grace looked at Celeste with concern and asked, "Has Gary agreed? Are the

three of you going to the United States together?"

Celeste shook her head and answered, "No, he has made up his mind. Auntie, I''ll be going."

She didn''t know what to say. The atmosphere was tense, and she felt that she was going to tear up

    if she continued to stay.

She didn''t know why she felt this way, but she was depressed.

Gary was someone she really couldn''t figure out at all.

Seeing that Celeste looked a little upset, Grace also felt a little anxious. "Celeste, where are you

going? Are you going back to school?"

"Yes, auntie." "Butler, send Celeste back to school." Grace immediately ordered.

    "No, it''s fine. Thank you."

"It''s better if we drive you there." Grace insisted.

After personally sending Celeste off to the car, she nced up.

As soon as she lifted her head, she was shocked to see a figure standing by the window on the

    third floor.

Gary was standing there, looking down indifferently.

Grace was puzzled for a moment, then she strode into the house.

Meanwhile, Gary watched as Celeste left. It was only when the car was out of his sight that he

withdrew his gaze with a gloomy expression on his face. He went back to the bed and sat down

    before hey down again.

When Grace pushed the door open and entered the room, she saw her son lying on the bed, long

legs touching the ground. He looked fatigued.

    "Gary?" Grace called out.

Gary sat up immediately and looked at his mother as he regained hisposure. "Mommy, what is

    it?"

Seeing that he schooled his emotions in an instant, Grace sighed in her heart. When had he

started to hide his feelings from her?

"Celeste has left." Grace said, "It''s the first time a girl hase to our house. Won''t you see her

    off?"

"There''s no need." Gary opened his mouth quickly and replied, "She''s just a ssmate."

"Just a ssmate?" She teased him yfully.

Gary could tell from his mother''s tone that she was teasing him. So, he didn''t take it seriously and

answered, "What else? Mom, you can''t possibly think that I like her, do you?"

    Grace nodded.

Gary was a smart kid, and his lies sounded very much like the truth. However, he failed to realize

that he was Grace''s son. No matter how old he got, he would never be able to escape Grace''s

    discerning gaze.

She could tell that he liked the young girl.

Gary sneered. "Mommy, you''re wrong. She''s the girl Ernest likes."

Grace was taken aback for a moment.

At the mention of Ernest and paired with what Celeste said before, it was obvious that the twins

liked her, but the young girl had no idea.

Celeste probably didn''t treat them as someone she fancied but solely as ssmates.

At the age of sixteen, they were only beginning to learn of romantic rtionships. It was just that

    some people werete bloomers.

As a mother, she didn''t expose her son openly. Instead, she was just puzzled and asked, "The girl

that Ernest likes? How do you know that he likes Celeste?"
