Chapter 1370
He chuckled and said, "Sounds like a good deal. But I''m not in a hurry to get it. The Milton family is
not that desperate too. All I want now is you."
I got up to leave. I reckoned it would not be a fruitful meeting.
He stopped me. "Hold on. I’m not done talking. How could we have a nice rtionship in the future
if you''re always so impatient?" His words sounded loving, but in truth were cold to behold.
I remained tight-lipped as I looked at him.
He finally came to his senses that I would never reciprocate his feelings. "Forget about it," he said.
"I guess our attempt to strike a deal would go futile. Let me put it this way. Do me a favor. Then, HI
tell you how to safely get what your daughter needs. Deal?"
"What''s the catch?"
Striking a deal with a devil like him meant that I would likely be short-changed.
He stared at me and did not say anything. Just as I was about to lose my cool, he said, "Apany
us for dinnerter. Be sure to carry yourself well."
I furrowed my brow and asked, "What do you
mean ''us''?"
At this moment, there was a knock on the door. A middle- ageddy walked in. Though she was
elegant and beautiful, there was a tinge of haggardness about herplexion, suggesting that she
suffered some long-term ailment. Her current state resembled that of Wendy''s.
"Sebastian, the receptionist told me that you have a guest," thedy said while beaming with
delight. "Is she the one?"
Sebastian’s gloomy expression had dissipated. At this moment, he looked exceptionally gentle and
amiable. He got up and respectfully walked towards her. As he looked at her, he said, "Mom, you''re
really so well-informed. Indeed, she''s just arrived, and you''re already here."
She smiled. There was a sense of warm kindness in her look. "I need to know whenever you bring
guests here so I can help entertain them. What’s more, this is the first time you brought a girl here."
Then, she walked towards me. She said smilingly, "Are you hungry? What do you feel like eating?
Feel free to let me know. I''ll have it prepared for you. Don’t be shy."
I was stunned. As I saw Sebastian looking at me, I could not help but say, "Oh, I''m not picky when it
comes to food. Anything''s fine!"
She smiled and grabbed hold of my arm to exchange pleasantries. Before she busied herself with
the meal preparation, she told Sebastian to keep me entertained.

As soon as she left, Sebastian''s face darkened. He looked at me and said, "y along well and I''ll
tell you what you want to know."
I pursed my lips and asked, "She''s your mother?"
He nodded. "She''s been looking forward to me settling down in life," he said. "Let her say whatever
she wants to sayter. Please do not upset her."
"Okay," I replied. "No worries. As much as I hate you, I won''t go so far as to upset an illdy!"
He raised his eyebrows. "How do you know that she''s ill?" he asked.
"Her face''s unusually pallid. I''m not blind. I can tell."
He snorted. "Alright then," he said. "Watch your words when she’s around."
As I looked at the hypocritical Sebastian, I was at a loss for words. The more wicked a man was,
the more noticeable were his weaknesses. After all, there were no exclusively good or bad people
in this world. They could only be ssified contingent on their intentions. Some were after money.
Some were after love. Some wanted to serve others... Whatever people did, there was something
that drove them to behave a certain way.
