    Valerie was there just as the elevator door closed. As Pedro was nowhere to be seen, she asked


    anxiously, "Where''s your father? Why didn''t you stop him? Something bad could happen."


    "He said he''s going to look for a doctor. He told me not to follow him."

    Valerie anxiously pushed the elevator buttons, and she almost broke into tears. "He could have


    called up the doctor. Why would he have to go personally? He is definitely not just meeting a doctor.
