Chapter 1366
Perhaps it was by chance that Este picked up that time...
I was perplexed to learn that Anne and Josiah''s bone marrow could not match. Valerie and Pedro
could be seen sitting outside the ward when I arrived at the hospital. They looked a little exhausted.
When she saw me, Valerie sighed and said, "The doctor said that their bone marrows are not a
match. We need to get someone else..."
Bewildered, I asked, "Why though? Anne is his daughter. Why was it not a match?"
"It'' s immaterial whether or not Anne is his biological daughter. It has more to do with the fact that
their blood types are not a match. There could be a transnt rejection if the operation is carried
out despite the difference in blood type. This would put Anne''s life in jeopardy."
Valerie grabbed hold of my arm, trying her best to exin.
My mind went nk, and I was dumbfounded. I did not expect that there would be a problem. After
all, Josiah was Anne''s biological father. Even if the bone marrow transnt could not work, a kidney
transnt should be possible. s, that was not the case.
I copsed on a sofa as I waspletely drained. It took me quite a while before I regained my
composure.
As the doctor walked out of Anne''s ward, he took off his surgical mask and told us, "Pleasee
over to my office."
Valerie held me as she led me to the doctor''s office. Pedro''s mood darkened. He looked solemn, as
though something was bothering him.
At the doctor''s office.
Valerie was agitated. She looked at the doctor and asked, "Doctor, we have yet to find a matching
bone marrow. What are we supposed to do now?"
The doctor looked at us and exined, "Bone marrow transnt is not a simple medical procedure.
We must find the right bone marrow. Otherwise, it would be difficult to rectify the situation in the
event that the patient develops post- surgeryplications. The number of patients with acute
leukemia has increased rapidly over the past two years. Not many patients managed to find a
matching bone marrow. I understand what you''re going through... The next best course of action
would be to resume chemotherapy treatment. We’ll try our best to look for a matching bone marrow
so that the girl can recover as soon as possible."
Pedro raised his head and asked, "How much longer can she hang on for?"
The doctor was taken aback by Pedro’s solemn demeanor. He replied to Pedro, "Judging from the
current progress of the treatment, her condition is rtively good. She should be able to make it for
another three years."
"Alright, got it," Pedro said while nodding. Then, he left the office.
Valerie was flustered when she saw Pedro leaving the office. She looked at me and said, "Arianna,
quick. Stop him from doing anything reckless."
Though I was a little puzzled, I tailed after Pedro. I saw him make a phone call while waiting for the
elevator.

I called after him, "Dad, what''s wrong? Where are you going?"
He looked at me. There was a sense of remorse in his gaze. "Arianna, I know that you me us for
the loss of your child back then. Don''t worry, I’ll go all out to find a way to ensure Anne''s recovery."
I did not know what he was up to. Stern and unrelenting, he remained resolute to leave.
I stopped him and said, "Dad, hold your horses.
Hendrix is sorting this out. Don''t worry, Anne will be fine!"
It seemed that my words had fallen on deaf ears. He made his way into the elevator. I wanted to tag
along, but he stopped me. "Don''t follow me," he said. "Look after Anne. No worries, I''m merely
looking for a doctor. I''ll be back in a bit."
