Chapter 1038
The shlight shone in my direction, and I squinted at the light. Looking away from the light, I saw
two deep pits not far away. They must be the ones I stepped into just now.
There were some tea trees covered with mud. My guess was correct. This ce had just copsed.
The rain was getting heavier, and I was soaking wet. I was not sure whether the soil under my feet
was solid or not, so I could only try to walk on it. When I saw Sebastian approaching me, I said, "Be
careful, some of the soil are soft!"
"Alright!" He had reached my side. When I heard his familiar voice, I was surprised.
When I looked up in amazement at Hendrix. "Hendrix? It''s you!" My originally tense nerves, for
some reason, suddenly rxed when I met him.
He also breathed a sigh of relief. He pursed his lips, and his handsome eyebrows raised, with a hint
of coldness. "What? Are you disappointed you didn''t get to meet the person you thought me to be?"
I was shocked and ignored his sarcasm. There were more important things at hand. I urged him,
"Let''s go up quickly. We can sink here anytime!"
He understood. He pulled me towards the edge of the pit, ready to leave. He looked up and yelled,
"I''ve found her. Quickly tie the rope to a tree."
Rainie''s voice came from above. "Okay, I understood. Take care!"
Hendrix tied the rope that was on his body around my waist and said, "Let''s escape this hole
together!"
I nodded. When I saw him reaching out to hold my hand, I subconsciously dodged and said, "It''s
okay, I''ll just follow behind you!"
He looked back at me. His eyes were gentle, and I could not tell what he was feeling. He just calmly
averted his eyes and said, "Be careful!"
I nodded and followed him cautiously. It was not easy to climb out of the seven- meter- high pit.
Especially since it was raining.
The people up top did not get close to the mouth of the pit for fear they would fall in too. They could
only support us from above.
I had no strength left in my hands, and it felt impossible for me to drag myself up using the rope.
After several tries, I fell down.
Hendrix was very strong, so it was not difficult for him to climb up. But with me, it became even
more difficult, and I worried I might even drag him down.
He was wet and covered in mud. Even his usual neat hairstyle waspletely disheveled.
I sat down in the mud in despair and said, "You go up first. If it goes on like this, neither of us can go
up. The rain is too heavy and the hole might copse anytime. It''s too dangerous!"
He frowned and looked at me. "If it were Sebastian, would you give up so easily?"
I was dumbfounded and knew that he misunderstood my intentions. I sighed and said, "You think
too much. The most important thing now is to reduce the risk of having both of us dead. If we
continue to stay here, something bad will happen to the both of us."
"I would be okay with that!" he said. Regardless of my struggle, he pulled me up and tried to push
me up.
My heart taunted me. How could it be so easy? I fell again.
A voice came from above. "How are you guys doing? Can you climb out?"

"The soil is too soft. You''ll have to throw down some branches!" Hendrix said as his gaze fell on me.
"Don''t worry, I won''t let you stay here alone."
