Chapter 577
After dinner, Norman washed the dishes with Bet while I went to the yard with Anne to pick some
fruits.
In the midsummer, I had nted a lot of watermelon seeds at the start of spring. I also bought a few
peach trees and nted them next to the fence the year I came to Hovell. They bored fruits almost
every year.
Anne held a basket while picking up peaches that could still be eaten even after dropping on the
ground. She asked, "Mom, do you like Mr. Zelson?"
I chuckled and put the picked fruits into the basket. Then, I touched her nose and said, "What are you
trying to say, honey?"
She pinched her chin and thought for a moment. Then, she said, "I was just thinking...if you could let
Mr. Zelson be my father?"
I was stunned for a moment. I looked at her and asked, "Anne, do you really want a father?"
She tilted her head and thought about it. After a short pause, she said seriously, "Not really, but I like
Bet. If you marry Mr. Zelson, then I can marry Bet in the future." "Even if your mum doesn''t
marry Mr. Zelson, you can also still marry Bet when you grow up!" A maic and melodious voice
sounded from behind them.
Upon hearing that voice, we turned around and Anne was instantly overjoyed. She ran over, yelling at
the top of her lungs, "Uncle Ian!"
Holding Anne in his arms, Ian said with augh, "Anne, since you want a father so much, why don''t you
call me Dad?"
Anne pondered for a moment and said, "My ssmate said that a Dad is someone who will lie in the
same bed with Mom."
I...
Ian curled his lips, looked over at me and said, "Your daughter is marvelous."
I gave him a small smile. Carrying the basket and the freshly picked watermelon in my arms, I walked
over to him ."Why are you here? Didn''t you say that you''d be busy recently?"
He put Anne down, and took the basket from me. "I know that the fruits here are turning ripe, so I made
ns toe over and eat for a few days. Can''t I?"
"Of course you can!"
Ian had set up a psychological counseling center in Ucrebury and it had been doing well these couple
of years.
Property belongs to N?vel(D)r/ama.Org.
During the first few years when I just came to Hovell, he would visit Anne very often. However, in the
past few years, he had been busy with work and would onlye by once or twice a year.
After dinner, we devoured the fruits. The skies got dark much slower in the summer. Anne pestered me
to take her out for a stroll.
Since everyone did not have much to do, we decided to stroll down the alley together.
There were plenty of roses nted on both sides of the alley. In the summer, they bloomed beautifully,
making their surroundings look lush. Anne liked to y along this alley; she especially loved dragging
Norman and Bet here.
It was because every time she came, Norman would buy her ice cream anytime she wanted it.
Norman walked out from the dessert shop with ice cream in hand. He gave one to Anne and Bet,
before handing me one as well.
I involuntarily smiled. I guess he saw me as a child after all.
Norman grinned at her. "Your mother is also a child, just like you."
Puzzled, Anne looked at Ian and said to Norman, "Ian and mom are the same age. So, that means he''s
also a child. Why don''t you buy one for him?"
Anne nodded her head but did not really understand what he meant.
The alley had been filled with blooming roses of various colors. The only difference was there was no
night market or hotpot at the end of the alley.
"What are you thinking about?" Ian asked when he saw that I was lost in thoughts.
