Chapter 265
Maja was hit hard; it felt like she was dreaming.
Just over forty minutes ago, she was on the phone with Wyatt and is now hearing about his death.
The bar was quickly blocked off, but the bar’s surveince equipment just happened to malfunction. On
tape, you could only see Wyatt entering the lobby; all other footage was unviewable.
The cops did their thing, only to conclude that Wyatt drank himself to death. Murder’s off the table for
now.
The hygiene situation in the bar was not great either. Thousands of fingerprints were mixed up in the
private rooms with oveps. Even if you were to check them individually, it would take time, plus many
of the prints were blurred. Other than penalizing the bar for insufficient safety measures, there wasn’t
much else to do.
Maja stood in the hospital corridor, unable to digest the news.
Wyatt’s rtives quickly arrived, and the corridor filled with the sound of crying.
1
Maja had been hanging around hospitals recently and was no stranger to the sound of sobbing.
She rubbed her temples; only Wyatt’s message remained on her phone. But she had already handed
this message over to the police. The police said they would continue investigating, but Wyatt’s death
was a fact.
Maja returned to the hotel, which was now sealed off, and all the guests still inside were persuaded to
leave.
After the murder, it was all locked down.
But no one was investigated by the cops because the doc had already given an apparent cause of
death: alcohol poisoning. From start to finish, it was only Wyatt in the private room. He had asked Maja
to join him, but by the time he stopped breathing, Maja was still on the road.
Now it was midnight, Maja had repeatedly asked the bar owner about the surveince situation, but the
bar owner was also being questioned by the police and seemed very tense.
No answers were forting.
A crowd was forming on the scene; Maja was helpless and could only walk away, nning to leave
first.

Meanwhile, everyone also started leaving the bar wheren was.
Carlene had a few drinks and had been waiting forn’s wife to show up, but she never did or even
replied to any messages. Carlene was quite pleased and couldn’t help but say ton, “Actually, I
already told your wife toe pick you up, but she never showed. Ian, your wife seems to not care
about you; I can now be with you without any burden.”
Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes sparkled as she looked atn, as if she was about to kiss him
any second.
The few people around them were egging them on.
Carlene raised her hand to wrap aroundn’s neck, butn turned to Dana, advising her, “Your car is
outside; you guys can head out first.”
Dana didn’t expectn to speak to her, and her cheeks immediately turned red.
But with Carlene there, she didn’t dare to make it too obvious, so she took hold of Carlene.
“Let’s go.”
Carlene wasn’t really drunk; she was just pretending to be. She grabbedn, using a coquettish tone.
n, you really aren’t going to take me home?”
and then walked to the side, speaking nonchntly, “I understand; send the data over now.”
After hanging up, he turned to Dana, “I have a meeting in half an hour; you take Carlene home and
remember to juice her a cup of fruit to sober up.”
Dana nodded vigorously, watchingn get into the car with puppy–dog eyes.
Getting in the car withn was Tyler.
Tyler sat in the car, watchingn start work as soon as he got in, and couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Your old me suddenly returns home after many years, yet you always deal with overseas
conferences.n, if it weren’t for the fact that you and Ms. Shepard used to have a thing, I’d think she
is just your regr female friend.”
At this point, all ofn’s attention was on theputer screen, clearly processing the data he just
received.
On the other hand, Tyler’s eyes turned to the window, and his eyebrows raised when he saw the
person outside.
“Isn’t that Ms. Penny?”
